Disney's Contemporary Resort Lake Buena Vista Reviews from The Last Year
Bucket list resort did not disappoint!
What an amazing stay! We were able to check in early, drop off our luggage and walk to Magic Kingdom. It was awesome to be able to hop on the monorail or walk to Magic Kingdom. Every cast member we encountered was top notch. To watch the fireworks from our balcony and lay in bed and see Cinderella's Castle from the window was simply magical. It was such a blessing to stay here!
Cleaning issues
First time going to Disney as a family so really excited. We arrived at hotel and room was amazing - pool view in main tower. Few issues but staff always on hand to help. We did have issues - toilet door wouldn't lock so had to make sure all knew not to enter. Red ants - I actual was bitten took 3 attempts to get sorted and finally one manager just took over to deal with. My main issue was cleaning of rooms - what they call a deep clean is what I expect daily. And just a standard clean I would call. Thick dust on bed sides and work tops and floor not vacuumed ? How is this deep clean to expected this done ? The price you pay for hotel I would expect a clean room daily especially when issue with red ants ? I get bedding changed every 3 daily but I want a clean room. We are going back in Sept 2025 - kids want to stay here but I am put off by cleaning of rooms only. Location amazing and staff but a clean room is more important.
Nostalgic Disney
My fiancé and I have been dreaming of staying here, the hotel the monorail goes through, for a while now. Since we made it a split stay with a value resort, we were able to make it happen this past trip. This place just screams Disney nostalgia, which we loved! Our room was ready before the typical 3pm check-in. We didn't know exactly how to get to our room, so we talked with front desk, and they were helpful and friendly! From then on, we explored the whole resort. We were in the South Garden Wing, so not the main hub where the monorail drives through, but it was actually really great. Just a short walk from the shops, restaurants, and pool/activities. Our room was on the third floor and faced the pool. This room was well insulated, as we never heard much throughout the rest of the hotel or from the pool area. The room itself was amazing, lots of updated Disney 'Incredibles' touches. The bathroom was amazing. The walk-in shower/sink area were separate from the toilet which is the perfect set-up. Everything was super bright and clean! We utilized the pool area the day we arrived. It was easy to get pool chairs and towels, although it did fill up pretty fast after we set up our stuff. There was a cm playing music and games with the guests which was really fun. It was the perfect place for some relaxation. The pool bar was just footsteps away from the pool, as well. While we loved the Contemporary itself for its modern, yet nostalgic feel, we were influenced by the monorail, which we ended up not liking as much. I am happy we tried it!
We just returned from our vacation, we stayed at The
We just returned from our vacation, we stayed at The Contemporary Garden Wing. This is a very old & dated resort, somewhat dirty (cockroach in the room) & it's just o.k. not the wow factor I expected for the amount of money it costs to stay there. We stayed at Saratoga Springs resort in 2018, everything from the time we booked our trip to the end of our trip everything was 5 stars. It's really sad how everything was not that this trip, even staffing is not the previous Disney experience. We always have a great time just the standards really have gone down & the costs gone up. (Like everything else)
Our new favorite!
We just returned from our trip and LOVED THE CONTEMPORARY! We have been to both DisneyLand (Grand Californian and Paradise Pier) and DisneyWorld (Caribbean Beach and the Cabins at Fort Wilderness) before, and this is now my new favorite. I read some other reviews discussing that the theming was not as strong here, but I honestly think it's perfect. I think everyone has "a hotel" that is theirs for one reason or another, and this one is just ours. The room is incredibly clean, simple, and for that it allows us to RELAX during our breaks. We go early and stay late, so we always take breaks in the afternoon. And our room was just wonderful to come back to each day. It is easy to get to and from the parks, I LOVE the built in closets because it allows us to fully unpack and stow our suitcases, the bathroom is huge and very comfortable for a family, and most importantly the beds are COMFORTABLE! I am picky due to my neck and slept really well here. My kids thought it was great because there are about 300 plugs to use for electronic charging. We ate at Steakhouse 71 and really enjoyed it. We did eat at a few other monorail hotels to experience them, but I think the Contemporary is just our kind of place and will book more reservations within our own hotel next time. I will absolutely come back not only because of the proximity to MK and the convenience of the monorail, but because the hotel itself was perfection. Our room was clean every day when we came back, the kids enjoyed having all their stuffed animals arranged in a fun manner, and I truly appreciate that the theming was modern and clean so I could mentally relax during our breaks. If you want heavier theming, there are great options on the monorail, but if you- like me- need a little mental break in the middle of the day then I highly recommend the Contemporary. It is clean, nicely sized, comfortable, and most importantly: total access winner for MK, which is where we spent most of our evenings. Thank you so much to the Contemporary staff for all that you do!
Bucket List Magic Kingdom Experience
Bucket list Disney experience! If you have a Magic Kingdom loving kid you can’t beat this hotel’s location. Stay in the main building, the extra bucks are worth it to be in the main hub to walk right out of your room and look down on Mickey, Minnie and all the friends. Beds were very comfortable, and the hotel was quieter both in and out of the room than we expected. Having the monorail access inside hotel cannot be under-emphasized, especially if you are a big MK park-goer. It’s not cheap, but we did not regret the expense. Also, big shout out to the Contempo take- out spot for their excellent GF flatbread!!! Last note, book at the California Grill for the firework’s experience.
Not safe
Initially our stay was good. However a fire alarm went off around 6 am , we were confused, were not sure what to do or where to go. My other family members were 4 floors above us and didn’t realize they needed to evacuate until I called them. They did not hear the same alarms as us. They only had a short alarm go off while ours went off continuously. No staff called on the phones or banged on doors to tell people to exit. All the staff were outside but not very many people staying in the resort (at least for the first 25 minutes). A staff member told me there was a fire in the kitchen, and when we exited it smelled like an electrical fire. Very disappointed there was an actual fire in the building and they did not safely make sure guests got out of the building. Glad I called my mom on the 8th floor to evacuate . They also did not tell guests when to go back inside the building. It was about 47 degrees out side and ppl had to stand in pajamas. No communication at all. We checked out as soon as possible with our 4 kids because we did not feel safe .
Not recommended for families
Paid for water front rm and got garden view room. Manager not helpful and lost Lu luggage after repeatedly calling after going to the bell service finally found my luggage. Room mediocre beds. OK some damage on walls and cupboards not mine for entered and discovered probably not gonna come back here again don’t recommend it either to family or friends.
Next door to Magic Kingdom!
I just got back from our stay at the Contemp and it was awesome, with some problems that didn't detract from our enjoyment. The best thing about the Contemp is the short walk to Magic Kingdom. That makes the hotel feel so special and privileged! I can just pop in Magic Kingdom any time I wanted. I requested an earlier room check in, and was sent my room number at 12pm, which is fantastic because 2 of my kids were sick. So we arrived at the room, and I let the kids rest in the hotel while I took off to MK for a quick hour, then got back and took my healthy kid to the pool. For other Disney hotels, it takes at least half hour just to reach Magic Kingdom. We got take out food from the food court as well as Steakhouse 71 and ate in the room (very nice with sick kids). Apparently, you have to stay at the Contemp to be allowed to order takeout from Steakhouse 71, so we enjoyed the privilege, though not the food (terrible, tastes like stuff I make, I will never eat there again.) The food court's food is far better, not to mention cheaper. The room looks OK, probably the ugliest deluxe Disney hotel room there is with its Incredibles theming. I am OK with the Incredibles movie but don't feel that it needs to be slapped onto the Contemporary. It wasn't even that popular of a movie. It does provide a sofa that turns into a bed, which I appreciate. The old room decor looked far better and I loved it, but for some reason Disney decided to change it. The glowing closet door does look very good, I must admit. If I ever need to buy closet doors I'll be sure to get such glowing ones. Another thing that's neat is the indirect ceiling light, looks awesome. What's really odd is that the two bed frames are joined together as a single piece. I can't imagine what the purpose is. As a result, when my kids move on their bed, it shakes my bed! I've never seen that before. The shower looks very beautiful has very weak water pressure even though it is brand new from the remodeling. The heater didn't work very well, so I was cold all night (46 out) and didn't sleep well enough. At night, the toilet stopped working and won't flush. So I took the lid off and fixed it! Wow, I've never fixed a toilet before, and it was different from my home toilet, but I saw what the problem was, and I fixed it! The hallway in the Garden Wing was narrow and bland, even after the Incredibles refurbishment, unlike other deluxe hotels such as Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is cheaper than the Contemp but has much fancier hallways. But you can't walk to a park from there! We booked the Garden Wing, though the main building is nicer with better hallways. We were upgraded to there once, and we appreciated the upgrade, but I don't want to ever stay there again because I'm impatient, and the elevators there is a pain during busy hours. It took me 9 minutes to go from my room to the ground floor amidst large crowds of people all fighting for the elevator, many of them aren't hotel guests but merely eating at Chef Mickey's. After dinner, I walked to the Grand Floridian and back during fireworks time, and it was such a beautiful and magical walk. At 9 pm, we went to Magic Kingdom again and took advantage of the low crowds after fireworks. We didn't have to worry about getting back too late or the bus being too crowded! It was just amazing.
An excellent stay! Though spendy, it is worth it to stay
An excellent stay! Though spendy, it is worth it to stay here at least once. The convenience of being able to walk to the Magic Kingdom Park or even to catch the monorail is unmatched. What we love is that it's kind of a one-stop shop in that everything is located in one place and there is so much good food downstairs and especially on the 15th floor at the California Grill. The water view was great because you could step outside your balcony and catch the water parade. At night, the kids could run to the end of the hall and outside the stairwell to watch the fireworks and Monorails passing through. Our room was comfortable, and we thought they made great use of the space. The beds have so much space under them that you can place your luggage under there, and the bathrooms were spacious. I personally found the beds to be comfortable, and I slept so well. We also enjoyed their pool and water slide. Overall, it was a great stay and highly recommend! The only thing that I found tricky were the elevators. You got 6 elevators and a whole bunch of people trying to go up to different floors and then people trying to get down. It can get congested and more wait time for an elevator to take you up.
Days Inn is better than this place
I cannot believe Disney is not ashamed of calling this awful place a luxury resort. It’s ugly, old, cheap looking. Just horrible all around. It’s like you step into the 1980s. I have never stayed at a place that called itself a “luxury” resort and then didn’t even put a bottle of water in your room. It’s all part of the Disney scam. We are Florida residents and definitely will never stay at a Disney property again. They think just putting Disney on it makes it worth all the money they charge even if the hotel is a dump. We also paid for a package through Disney for the hotel stay plus tickets. It put all our information and date of birth for all of us. Then I got a price for stay plus tickets. Then when we got there they made us pay another $300 saying our son needed a ticket even though he was on the reservation. We explained this 1000 times and they didn’t care one bit. All they want is more money no matter how miserable they make your experience. The food at this place is also disgusting. After eating at Chef Mickey we were horrified and went off property to eat in Winter Garden at a nice restaurant for half the price. Do yourself a favor and stay at a real hotel and not this horrible place.
Good stay
We stayed 3 nights in a double queen room with 2 little kids, ages 9 and 6. The room was comfortable but I was dismayed that there was no real comforter blanket at this price point. The blanket was like a thin towel, and we had to bump up the room temp instead because we stayed during the winter when nights were in the 50s. Another interesting thing about this hotel is that our room was like 15 minutes away from the front entrance by foot. I mean, it was a real hike down 3 super long corridors in the lake view building then you get outside then into the main lobby then through to the shuttle bus station to the parks. This is something to keep in mind if you have difficulty walking. At some point the peephole on our hotel room door completely fell out but we were too tired to care. Housekeeping must have noticed and had it fixed because we came back from a day out and it was fixed. Overall service was very good. The location is only super convenient if you want to go to Magic kingdom since the hotel is a stop on the monorail. Otherwise you are at the mercy of the shuttle buses which aren't always on time as the app had stated. Our stay was nice but I think for the price point I'd stay outside Disneyworld next time.
Stayed here on a work related trip, so the rating is a bit
Stayed here on a work related trip, so the rating is a bit skewed as the amenities were set up for us, but we still got to use the resorts features nonetheless, and overall I was impressed. Employees or cast members as they're called here, we're all very good. Every one of them said hi to you as you walked the hallway, even if they were not servicing your room. The hallways are long and the sequencing doesn't always make sense, but it's clean and well maintained. The vending machines are a bit hidden away, and things such as shops are a bit different than your standard hotel, but they've got everything you need at the resort, and tons of space to spare. The rooms are clean and well appointed (although there was an odd absence of water cups in the room. The blankets are thin but warm, and there is a large sized TV with all the channels you'd need. Front desk, concierge and bell staff were helpful and friendly. I'd definitely suggest more soda machines around the lot and maybe even bikes to get around for rent, plus there isn't a ton to do if you're not riding the monorail to the other resorts or The Magic Kingdom. Restaurant wise there was the California Cafe which was delicious. Again, catered so I can't really speak to the menu. The other dining spot I used was The Contemporary Cafe. Food is so-so but here you'll find the friendliest of all the staff. They were all incredibly helpful and smiling, always willing to give a hand. The food was quick and surprisingly not too expensive. It's a nice reprieve from the business of the rest of the resort, although during our stay it was never very crowded. The shops were fun. I'm not a big Disney person, but still found the place pretty fun to be around. I can see how people find it magical. It's a pretty positive place to visit. Wry little to complain about. I picked up a Storm Trooper figurine to bring back and a bag for a friend. And the monorail was an easy way to get around the resorts and Kingdom. Our team of trainers for the Leadership course were amazing. No small technical glitch could derail them, they were outstanding. The food was really good. Some of it outstanding as well. Beef tenderloin was tender, and the au jus flavorful and tasty. All in all, an amazing trip. Thanks Disney for keeping us comfortable!
Disappointed
Would have given a higher score had we had housekeeping service, which we did not. We were out of the room for over 6 hours and housekeeping service never came to our room. Considering the amount of money we paid for concierge level, I would have expected better service. Also there was a large chipped piece of threshold material which was at the doorway of our room. This was the second time we were on the concierge level... the first time, over 4 years ago, was better and more memorable.
More Like a Convention Hotel
We paid for a garden room with water views. We were given a beaten up accessible tower room. When we asked for the room we had purchased, we were given a garden room with no water view. We gave up and accepted it. The room has been updated with rather tacky Incredibles theming. The walkways look hard used. There was little or no Disney atmosphere. The hotel resembles a value resort or a rather lifeless convention hotel. We have previously stayed at the Polynesian, the Yacht and Beach clubs, the Animal Kingdom lodge and the Dolphin and Swan. Those are much better choices, in some cases, at much cheaper prices. The only real advantage in staying here is the fact that you can walk to the Magic Kingdom. If you are looking for Disney Magic, you will not find it here.
Get a fireworks view room
We booked a theme park view room for our stay so we could watch the 30th December fireworks from our balcony. It was amazing. The view was perfect and we loved our stay. The room was really nice and we can't wait to return.

I just love our resort, the view from our room, the facilities that were provided. Me and my husband we had a great experience :)
I've stayed in countless Disney properties over the past 30
I've stayed in countless Disney properties over the past 30 years and this is by far my favorite one. I stayed at the villas at the vacation club area and the room was phenomenal. The views were amazing, the balcony was huge (and a great way to see the musical boats at night) and the bed/pullouts were super comfortable. Everything here was superior IMO. The dining options were fun (Chef Mickey is my favorite character dining place for the kids), the easy access to the monorail is so key, and just being able to walk to the Magic Kingdom in 7 minutes is a huge plus too. The gift shops here were nice and even the arcade/game room was better than most resorts. Bear in mind it's pretty expensive to stay here so it's definitely a splurge for most people. But it's worth every dollar spent 100% for sure. I absolutely enjoyed every minute I spent here and also really liked the two pool options they have here (although the private/vacation club pool was a big small). All in I'd absolutely recommend this property. In our last visit we were at the villas in the adjacent Wilderness Lodge but I must confess I really missed this property whenever we passed by it (and visited once for dinner again at Chef Mickey's).
Comfy beds & decent room but SO LOUD.
At 11pm, there's a very loud parade outside the window. Walls are paper thin also. Not a good place to stay if you like sleep.
Very disappointed in service at hotel this year.
Arrived and our door key didn't work, had to tromp back to desk to get one. (Big hotel). Then paid for waterview and received basic view. Has to move next day, no offer to adjust fee or anything. Just overall wondering where Disney magic has gone, guess it woke up. Ha
Although this resort is the closest to Walt Disney World it
Although this resort is the closest to Walt Disney World it seems to lack lustre and and life. The resort is outdated , dirty in appearance and really needs a facelift. We had a great vegetarian flatbread along with a nice wine here but I wouldn't bother going back. Pick a more updated resort with better amenities if this is your annual Disney vacation. The other resorts in the area offer much nicer surroundings and are worth driving or travelling a few extra minutes.
We didn't stay at the resort.
We only took now I forget what kind of transit to it so we could explore it for a moment and then ride the Monorail to the Magic Kingdom. We saw the cafeteria area, browsed some shops that didn't sell a single ballcap that won us both over, looked out the windows, and then we headed to the monorail. The monorail system has a security checkpoint and that made me more comfortable.
This place fell off a cliff in terms of quality.
We stayed one night in a theme park view room and the USB outlets didn't work, the coffee machine didn't work, and the toilet paper roll holder was falling off the wall. To add insult to injury we left a small makeup bag in the room with some earrings and things in it and surprise surprise nobody found it. It's the first time I felt regret tipping housekeeping because what's the point if they are going to just steal your stuff or do a bad enough job they don't see your bag on the counter of an empty bathroom. This used to be my favorite but right now even thinking about it makes me not just dislike the hotel but Disney as a whole. Save your money and stay somewhere else. Oh, and the rooms all stink like they spray some scent to try to cover up some other scent. It gives me a headache, they never used to do that.
The Contemporary has been a bucket-list hotel for me for
The Contemporary has been a bucket-list hotel for me for many years because of its iconic design with the monorail passing through its middle. It's one of the original 1971 Disney resorts, along with the Polynesian. As a Disney Deluxe Resort (the highest category), it's quite pricey. Fortunately, it was on our convention's hotel list, which gave us a reduced (but still high) rate. There are many perks to staying at a Disney resort as long as you're planning on doing a lot of Disney things. Disney resort guests have Early Access to Genie+ park and dining reservations, Early Entry to the parks in the morning, free parking at the resorts and parks, no resort fees, and Extended Evening hours (for Deluxe resort guests only). The Contemporary has the added advantage of being within walking distance (about 10 minutes) to the Magic Kingdom, with a separate smaller and less crowded security station. Being on the monorail line allows access to other Magic Kingdom resorts (Polynesian and Grand Floridian) and to EPCOT. The resort is comprised of the original A-frame structure, a 3-story South Garden Wing, and the Bay Lake Tower (one of Disney's Deluxe Villa/Vacation Club resorts). The hotel was recently refurbished to incorporate a Incredibles theme. Our room was in the Garden Wing, which is much quieter than the main building but only has 2 small elevators. Ground floor rooms have patios, 2nd and 3rd floor rooms have a sliding door but not a real balcony. Most rooms have water and/or pool views; those that face the parking lot I think get a glimpse of the fireworks. The room was fairly large with 2 queen beds plus a long sofa that held a single bed. There was a fridge and coffeemaker, no robes or slippers. The closet was a decent size. Towels are configured like Mickey when you first arrive. The bathroom was extremely well lit with 2 sinks, a large shower with 2 nozzles and a separate WC. I liked both the Incredibles and Monorail touches. Even with many child guests, the wing was fairly quiet, with any noise coming from the hall and not adjacent rooms. The Garden Wing had its own convenient parking lot that was never completely full. The hotel's pool area is not really themed but has a slide and play area for kids, a separate pool extending into the lake, plus a beach and a snack bar. Bay Lake Tower has its own pool. All the dining and shopping options are within the main building. The options are not extensive for a resort of this size. Three of the restaurants require reservations and are on the pricey side: California Grill and Lounge on the 15th (top) floor, Steakhouse 71 and Lounge, and Chef Mickey's (a buffet with Character interactions). Contempo Cafe is a fast-casual eatery which also has a "market" with numerous grab-and-go items. Hot food can be ordered to go. There's a small bar/lounge called Outer Rim and a coffee place near the entrance. We only had a few meals to go from Contempo, and they were quite good, especially the hot turkey sandwich. Overall a nice stay, if a bit overpriced. One must weigh the cost vs. the convenience of a stay here.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?

Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
