We booked ahead based on a friends recommendation, and arrived early on opening at 6:45pm. The restaurant is a little tricky to find as it is not particularly obvious from the outside that it's a restaurant. We found 89B though, rang the buzzer, and true to it's name were directed 'upstairs' to a narrow landing where the host took our coats and bags before guiding us into a small bar on the 1st floor. As we were the first to arrive, and had some time to spare, we had a drink at the bar and indulged in a small bowl of olives. The interior is small yet cozy, and the restaurant on the top floor is equally warm and romantic. Open fireplaces, candle lit tables, and a view of Big Ben from the windows should wow even the most hard to please of dates. The food didn't let us down either. We started with a small plate of pistachio stuffed arrincini served with broccoli and boccincini and a dish of poached salmon with red cabbage gazpacho. The arrincini while beautifully presented was a little on the bland side. Better was the Salmon and red cabbage gazpacho which left us wanting more. For Mains I tried the barbary duck served with blood orange, while my partner ordered the Brill with grilled Salsify and bok Choi. Both were excellent. My duck was perfectly cooked, pink in the middle and served with little cubes of fennel candy. We ended the night with a dark chocolate mousse, and left agreeing that we would soon return. It's worth noting one can only order from the set menus here (Either 2 courses £27 or 3 courses for £33), while we knew this ahead of our visit, a couple who sat down half way through our meal clearly did not, after a few giggles we heard them make their excuses and walk out. It's not easy to eat here on a budget, Our meal for two, with 5 Glasses (should've been a bottle and would have saved about 8 quid), olives, one 2 course meal, and one 3 course meal came in at £101.
