TIP: Location is a bit hard to find as it's in the basement of an office building--keep your eyes peeled for an unassuming menu stand outside said office building, as I completely walked by it while looking for this place.Cozy yet upscale izakaya that's perfect for a light dinner with friends after work. It's definitely expensive and the portions are tiny but I thought it was well worth it considering the quality of everything we ate and the excellent service. Four of us shared 7 dishes + a free red bean birthday ice cream and our combined total post tax and tip came out to $157.From favorite to least favorite (but still good!):Age dashi tofu ($12) - A must get IMO. The flash fried tofu creates a nice contrast between the crispy exterior but soft inside, and pairs so well with the strong umami from the dashi broth and mushroom.Saba Shioyaki ($13) - This grilled mackerel dish came at a very close second. The fish was cooked just the right amount--lot of times it can be too dry but that wasn't the case here. Great textureUni Soba ($38) - I've never had uni and soba combined, and it was quite a good pair! There wasn't too much uni but it was clearly very fresh and not at all bitter.Kanikama Salad ($9) - Wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did, but it was great! There was a good balance between the imitation crab and cucumber. Not bad and we appreciated the relative affordability compared to the other dishes.(The following items are ones I probably wouldn't get again:)Hot Inaniwa Udon ($18) - I was expecting thicker noodles but the udon noodles were quite thin. I also didn't taste much yuzu flavor.Karaage ($17) - Appreciated that the chicken wasn't dry, but it was a little salty and nothing really stood out considering the elevated price point for 4 pcs.Tori Tsukune ($16) - These chicken meatballs also didn't really stand out and felt expensive for 4pcs.
