Plumeria Vegetarian Restaurant San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
Food was absolutely delicious.
Definitely recommend their little flower cups! They were small but so filling!
Nice find.
Really good service, the ambience is lovely. Always on the lookout for good plant based options, Plumeria fits the bill! Great food.

Recently met up with some friends visiting who are vegetarian and wanted to eat at Plumeria. Took my teen aged sons. The service was fine. The food tasted average at best but that's not my problem. The next morning both my sons threw up from their meals. I also woke up feeling awful. I contacted Plumeria and spoke to someone I assume is the manager, I told her what happened, she said we take this seriously, thank you, goodbye. Oh wow. Okay. Well, won't ever be going back. I have a feeling their use of oils and cooking cleanliness is not top notch. Looking at other negative reviews of this restaurant I see others complaining of stomach aches and feeling sick, so just beware.

Nestled in the heart of the city, Plumeria Vegetarian is a true gem for those seeking a burst of flavor in every bite. My recent visit left me enamored with their dedication to fresh, vibrant ingredients and a menu teeming with creativity. The star of the show? Their Spicy Noodles. Imagine a dish where tender vegan chicken dances around with crunchy onions, bell peppers, and carrots, all intermingled with fresh basil. The famous chili garlic sauce they toss it in isn't just spicy--it's a masterful stroke of culinary artistry, adding a heat that's as exhilarating as it is divine. Moving on to the Broccoli Delight, which is a love letter to broccoli enthusiasts. The vegan beef is so skillfully seasoned and cooked that it could easily fool the staunchest meat lovers. The broccoli itself was the highlight for me, cooked to a tender yet crisp perfection that paired beautifully with the rich, savory sauce enveloping it. No meal at Plumeria Vegetarian would be complete without a sip of their Sake Nigori. This creamy, dreamy drink was the perfect counterbalance to the spices of the meal--a cool, smooth finish to a dining experience that was as delightful as it was satisfying. In summary, Plumeria Vegetarian doesn't just serve food; they master the art of vegetarian cuisine with a flair that's both modern and wonderfully indulgent. Whether you're a vegetarian or just a lover of all things deliciously prepared, this place is a must-visit. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!
Me and two friends came here a few weeks ago for dinner
Me and two friends came here a few weeks ago for dinner around 6:30 on a Saturday. There was a little line so we ended up having to wait about 20 minutes to get seated. The restaurant isn't too big but they have plenty of seats. Once seated we were immediately greeted by our friendly server who quickly took our order. I got the basil chicken and Tom yum soup. The soup was honestly lacking in flavor (I think some of the key elements must be non-vegan) but it was still good. I really liked the basil chicken it was so delicious and bursting with flavor. I would definitely come back here again - esp if I have a vegetarian/vegan friend with me!

Showed up with a party of 3 at 7:15 on a Monday, restaurant was 3/4 full but we were seated right away. Service was very friendly and very efficient. I've also been in on a Saturday evening with a group of 6, and service was just as good in that case. (they do take reservations for parties of 6 or more). THey brought us waters and took our orders. Got the Tom Yum soup and it was sooo delicious, we finished that pretty quickly. I went with the green curry, but pretty sure I've had a couple of the noodle dishes and stir fries in the past. I love all of the vegetarian meat options, the mock duck was really good. I will note that 1 time I've ordered takeout from here and the noodle dish was not up to their normal standard, but i'll assume that was a fluke since i've eaten here so many other times and always enjoyed the food.

Pls take the long stems of cilantro out of the fresh spring rolls. You can't eat them so you have to stop and pull them out while eating. I have ate these for yrs and the last several orders this has made it unenjoyable.
Pad thai is unfortunately mid but this is one of the only
Pad thai is unfortunately mid but this is one of the only places to get it vegetarian, so I'll take what I can get. I don't like their tangerine "chicken", it tastes like fake orange. The satay mock chicken with peanut sauce is amazing though; crispy and tender with delicious sauce. They cook the satay mock chicken well, but when I ordered my pad thai with mock chicken, the texture was so different. It had no color, no crisp, and was just wet and flavorless. It was really gross, so order tofu on your dishes or risk uncooked mock chicken. But I appreciate the wide variety on the menu, the different options for proteins and rice, and I will say I haven't tried a bad dessert here yet! As for ambiance, it's too loud in there for me because it's small inside. If you don't mind noise it's cute.
I go here often and I love their food.
It's so healthy and the portion sizes are perfect!! The staff are so nice and I come here way too often!! 10/10 I highly recommend
Amazing vegan food! My friend & I went there before a show
Amazing vegan food! My friend & I went there before a show & I went back with my daughter 2 weeks later. The flavors popped! I had the Thai Basil with jackfruit both times. Absolutely delicious. My daughter had the Ka Pow & it was as good (maybe even a little better). We also shared the spring rolls and Tom Yum soup - lovely lemongrass flavoring. I live just over an hour away, but will definitely be back!
Great food! Fast services and great and helpful staff.

Amazing flavors and good selection of dishes even for
Amazing flavors and good selection of dishes even for someone who is not used to eating vegetarian or vegan food. I had the pad thai which was one of the best I've ever had. Great seasoning, great spice level. The fried tofu was an acceptable substitute for meat and went nicely with the sweet sauce. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. It's a cozy atmosphere and pretty roomy inside with multiple rooms for tables. As someone who wouldn't think to try a vegetarian restaurant on their own, I'm convinced it's worth trying now. Well worth the experience.

Came here on a Wednesday afternoon for a late lunch with my husband. We did street parking across the street and walked over. It wasn't busy at all so we were seated right away and we sat in their outdoor seating area. We ordered the appetizer sampler, which I highly recommend if you just can't decide and want to try a little bit of (almost) everything. I can't make up my mind on which one was my favorite. We also ordered the eggplant dish with fried tofu, tangerine with vegan crispy chicken, and spicy basil fried rice with vegan duck. My husband and I were both so impressed with the food. Every single dish we ordered was soo good! We didn't feel that anything was lacking in flavor, in fact quite the opposite. And the serving sizes are huge, definitely a great value for the price. Our server checked on us a few times throughout our meal and was very friendly. Such a good find in San Diego. We will be back! :)

As someone who has been always loved meat I was hesitant to try a vegetarian Thai place; however I had heard such wonderful reviews. It did not disappoint! The flavors were wonderful - I've tried the pad Thai, spicy noodles, and drunken noodles as well with veggies, tofu and vegan chicken. The flavors were great and what impressed me the most was by how good the vegan chicken tasted. It didn't taste like chicken, but still was a great dish and did not take away from the flavor. Service is fast and everyone is kind! Will be back again
I've been wanting to get Thai food as well as take a friend
I've been wanting to get Thai food as well as take a friend out for a casual dinner. My friend is vegetarian so I chose Plumeria to accommodate. Little did I know this was a very popular destination for your go to vegetarian authentic Thai food needs. We split the Flower Cups, Tom Yum soup, and Cashew Nut with mock chicken (vegan) as the protein. I've had some mock meats before and their chicken was not too far off the real thing in terms of texture. The Flower Cups were great appetizers and have a filling of tofu, peas and carrots served with a cucumber salad/ vinaigrette. The salad was really sweet so I didn't use much of it. The Tom Yum soup was a bit bland, but included a generous portion of beech mushroom, carrots, and tofu. My friend in addition to being vegetarian, could also not eat garlic or onion and they were able to accommodate even further with us to provide everything to us! To end we got their Cheesecake Eggrolls which I was a little surprised to see such a combination, but it was a good combination. We added coconut ice cream to it and it did help with the sweetness. It was a busy Saturday night as our wait was 30-40 minutes, but I enjoyed my meal even though vegetarian is not my standard diet.
Wonderful!
Four friends visited Plumeria and we all were so impressed the service wasGREAT! and the food was amazing. Two of us had the ginger sautéed dish. I had mine with mixed beans and it was delicious. Two had the Rama and raved about it. All the meals came with rice and were sooo flavorful. The portions are huge so be prepared to take some home. We highly recommend Plumeria.
Plumeria is great for veggies and non veggies alike
First only one of our four are vegetarians. We all really enjoyed our dishes. Service was great and fast. Place nice but small, has outside seating. I had the spicy noodles with “duck”, veggie daughter duck, not real duck, LARB, another had the tangerine “duck” which was outrageously good, a finally “beef” Rama, all great. Large portions, very fair prices.
