Love & Salt Manhattan Beach Reviews from The Last Year
Californian Italian cuisine in Manhattan Beach
Californian-Italian restaurant with fresh ingredients and shareable plates. Came here for a private party in their back room (holds up to 20 people) and it was a very pleasant meal. We had the arugula salad as well as the fennel salad to start in addition to charcuterie boards. The arugula salad was a bit bitter but the fennel was surprisingly tasty. The candied walnuts were my favorite on the charcuterie board. We got the delicata squash as well as margherita pizzas - the crust was Neapolitan style and I especially enjoyed the delicata (which you can get without pork). For the pastas, we had the cacio e pepe and another cheese bow tie one - the texture of the pasta was on point and the sauces were creamy. The mains were the beef as well the brick chicken - the brick chicken comes with a jus that soaks a slice of thick cut bread underneath, and it was a crowd favorite. The beef was tender and came with polenta - a hearty option. For dessert, we ended with a trio of tiramisu, lemon merengue, and a cake. The tiramisu was one of the best I’ve had in LA. Our waitress was so attentive and nice. They do have mocktails and vegetarian options. There was a private restroom available outside of the room. Overall, a lovely meal with cozy vibes.
Excellent service, Food too salty.
Love & Salt is located at the old Cafe Pierre location. We were seated at a nice table for two. The chair was uncomfortable for my wife’s bad back, and the GM Rod immediately sprang into action, and switched chairs. He was very kind. Liz was our very nice Server, and the service was very attentive. The noise level was high, but everyone was having a nice time. The cocktails were very good ~ Crime of Passion with mezcal and passion fruit, and the Manhattan Sour. We were honestly underwhelmed with the food. The fennel salad was pure shaved fennel, but it was bland and did not have the strong flavor of licorice we were expecting. The Parmesan cheese did its best to bring out the flavor but it fell short. The Ricotta Gnocchi had a generous portion of pork ragu, but it was extremely salty although the gnocchi had a nice texture. The Emigh Farms Lamb Shank was tender, but also was salty. The glasses of wine we ordered were a highlight. The Barbera D’Asti Piemonte was superb, and the Bordeaux Blend also very good. For dessert we had their Summer Crostata with wild blueberries which was tasty, but would have been better if it were warmed. We have heard many good things about Love & Salt, and will return to work our way through the menu. The service was excellent, and I look forward to reviewing after we try some other creative sounding dishes.
You have to like the noise!!
Things were off to a bad start when the 20 something hostess chastised us for being a few minutes late and there were several tables empty. The noise was so loud it was difficult to hear all of what she said which was a blessing. The food was good but everyone was served at different times based on their style but 10 minutes between plates seemed odd particularly when three were pasta. Overpriced wine list. Got a kick out of 2 over $1000. They actually have one bottle of each. Finally having to retain cutlery between courses in a high priced spot does not sit well with me. But the bar and room were packed, so what do I know. Just this there are better spot with in a blocks walk.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
