Kiyosuzu Arcadia Reviews from The Last Year
disappointing that their policies keep changing
disappointing that their policies keep changing randomly they do not pick up the phones no to-go / take out orders, they simple do not offer it anymore despite people having ordered to go from them for years prior to whenever the policy change happened only 2-3 tables on saturday night really says something about the place imo
Always good food and very good price.
Go early for dinner as it does get filled up fast. I like the fresh sashimi , sushi rolls and their combination plate. Highly recommend this place!
Very good and fresh fish/sushi at very reasonable price.
Nice mom and pop restaurant with an Olympian ice skating daughter.
I've cherished Kiyosuzu for over 15 years, a testament to
I've cherished Kiyosuzu for over 15 years, a testament to its enduring charm and exceptional hospitality. Run by a delightful Japanese couple, their warmth and genuine care have made every visit a treasured memory. I still remember seeing their daughter who is an Olympic figure skater doing homework in the back room when I was a little boy. And just always laughing with my family and the staff while eating their great food. The sushi, crafted by the talented head chef, is not only delicious but also served with the freshest ingredients and like I said before with a side of laughter. The options are abundant, ensuring there's something for every palate, and the quality of handcrafted sushi is unparalleled made by the masterful head sushi chef who is also the owner. The atmosphere exudes simplicity and cleanliness, reminiscent of Japan in the early 2000s, a sentiment that resonates deeply with me. Kiyosuzu isn't just a restaurant; it's a home away from home where every bite feels like a warm embrace. Highly recommend experiencing its authentic charm. Lastly, I feel the need to defend this establishment from some of the negative reviews it has been receiving. My family has also been in the restaurant business all their life, so I know personally how hard it is. My Japanese uncle would always love to casually talk with the head sushi chef about family, golf, and just about how their business is going. From these conversations, I was able to achieve great insight how they run their business behind closed doors and this is what I learned. The wife and husband do absolutely everything. They are a two person show and have been doing it for over 20 years, so I understand why they are very strict with their closing times. Also, the husband who is the head sushi chef wakes up every morning at 4:00am to pick up the fresh fish from the market. So overall, I am not surprised with their strict closing times. I mean wouldn't you also be too if you were in their same position?
People need to calm the heck down when they rant about this
People need to calm the heck down when they rant about this little family-run place. Can't you see it's literally a mom-and-pop shop with the owners working there every day? Sure, it's annoying they don't offer to-go. But they must have their reasons.
Not offer to go when first the restaurant is not busy.
Secondly the chef is not busy, plenty of empty tables. Third I was physically there walk in to try order something to go. This is unacceptable in my point of view. Because I don't see any reason for the restaurant not allowing to order food to go. If this is how you treat your repeat customer I will never eat here ever again! Good luck on running your business like this, I know you guys have been here long, let's see how much longer you can last when you keep treating customers like this. You are not the only sushi restaurant in town.
worst japanese restaurant i have ever been to.
tempura was too thick and cold and greasy. the sashimi was terrible and i left it. the sake was not hot enough. will never go back.
I entered and was greeted by a lovely lady.
Their lunch time is kind of tight so make sure you're there well before 2pm, they start taking last orders around 1:30pm. Their lunch special order is a really good deal with large selection and I also some nigiri sushi. The sushi was actually price per piece so getting another order of the lunch special would've been a better deal. I had the cold soba noodle with tempura and it was really good. I would prefer some more garnish but no complains for their non changing price after many years. Make sure no credit cards under $20, which usually isn't a problem, but their lunch special is such a good deal!
Cosy Japanese restaurant with good food at good prices.
Service is friendly and warm. Ingredients are fresh and you can see and taste the quality.
A very homie sushi spot in Arcadia! Everything is very
A very homie sushi spot in Arcadia! Everything is very reasonably priced and the fish quality is on point! Everyone is very friendly, helpful and lovely. The interior is very cozy and traditional. I got the chirashi bowl and was really surprised by the tamago. It was very fluffy and sweet and did not expect that to be one of my favorites since there were so many yummy fish surrounding it.
Poor Customer Service
I had a highly unpleasant experience at the restaurant. To my surprise, they stop all sittings at 1:15 pm for their 2 pm closing time. It would have been helpful if this information was mentioned on their website. I arrived around 1:17 pm with my two young kids, but despite the restaurant being quite empty, they refused to seat us. While I understand the need to adhere to their rules, I found the staff's attitude dismissive and rude. I will definitely not consider dining at this restaurant again. On a positive note, I went to another Japanese restaurant down the street called Sushi Kizen, and the customer experience there was so much better.
