Jasmine Seafood Restaurant & Express San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
Fire fire food was so good.
We will be coming back. Had the wings and brócoli with noodles and everything was fire
Customer service could really use some improvement.
We weren't familiar with the restaurant. When we sat down, we were immediately asked if we wanted this or that dim sum. We weren't presented with a menu or provided any explanation of how things work. Instead we were pressured to think that dim sum was all they had. I guess they assumed we were regulars. Wonton soup was delicious. Unfortunately, they only had one cup that we had to share. Didn't understand why they couldn't make anymore. Dumplings and Chinese broccoli tasted good; however, they were over priced and not really what we wanted to have. It was a shock when we got the bill. Would have appreciated it if the servers were more forthcoming by providing a menu like every other restaurant.
I was really disappointed with my food order from this
I was really disappointed with my food order from this place. Spent over $30 for pork and shrimp siu mai, har gow (shrimp dumplings) and the steamed pork buns. The pork buns were completely cold and did not taste good. The other dishes were so small I couldn't really believe this place gets business. Felt like a complete waste of money. I'm sorry but you guys need to change your portions for the dumpling menu.
This is our go to for yum cha/dim sum.
Growing up in Sydney where we're spoilt for choices for yum cha, this comes the closest in SD. We always get the chicken feet, gailan, steamed buns, pork spare ribs, steamed tofu roll, seared turnip cake, rice rolls, har gow, and tofu fa. Absolutely delicious!
Food is much more expensive here but the quality is much
Food is much more expensive here but the quality is much worse compared to some years ago. There was hardly any air conditioning or air movement inside the restaurant, and a $22 plate of fried rice came out with chewy rice. I cook better fried rice than they. Maybe we arrived a bit late in the lunch run, and their dim sum had been sitting around for a while. The soup dumplings were chewy too.
4/25/24.
Overall, the food here is decent, but the variety is where it's at! September 2022: Shrimp dumpling $7.19: succulent and plentiful skrimps 4.5/5 stars. Pork ribs $6.19: savory & tender 4/5. Seasame balls $5.19: average 3/5. Chicken egg rolls $5.19: bland, dry, and room temp 2/5. Bbq pork steamed bun $5.19: skip this dryness & saltiness 2/5. Baked coconut bun $5.19: these sweet pillows were the best item of the day 4.5/5. 4/06/24: Sweet Rice Shrimp Balls ($8.19): was not bad, but I wouldn't get this again. Plenty of shrimp, but the texture was firm, 3/5 stars. Roast Duck Plate ($16.99): better than ones I've had, but prefer chicken, 3.5/5 stars. Baked Pork Bun ($5.39): simply the best! It's sweet and savory with soft buttery bread and tender but slightly sweet pork, 5/5 stars! Soy Crispy Noodles ($11.59): simple but enjoyable, 4/5 stars. Wonton Soup ($9.89): typical broth, but the shrimp wontons are huge, 4/5 stars! Young Chow Fried Rice ($22.99): slightly underseasoned, but rice was fluffy and a big portion, 3.5/5 stars. 2.5 lbs live lobster @ $40/lb. Prep options: 1. Salt & pepper. 2. Ginger & scallions sauté 3. In lobster sauce. 4. Black peppered. We opted for the lobster sautéed with ginger and scallions sauce ($100.00): flavorful and succulent, 5/5 stars! The service here is quick, and the restaurant layout is spacious. The dim sum is conveniently carted within the restaurant, and the servers are always close by to assist as well. A line forms quickly on the weekends; therefore, be prepared to wait to be seated, and the parking can be challenging.
The restaurant was almost empty last night and the service
The restaurant was almost empty last night and the service was terrible. In the past it has been packed so I was shocked. The food was good, however.
We have been going to Jasmine for years, but have recently
We have been going to Jasmine for years, but have recently read about their change in management woes. Undeterred, we went there for a weekday lunch a few days ago, and were really disappointed. First off, finding a place to park was horrendous as they are repairing virtually all the streets in the area. We finally squeezed our car into a spot and looked forward to a great lunch. As we had read on Yelp, we saw that all of the dim sum prices had been raised significantly (xiao long bao more expensive than at Din Tai Fung). But the food has always been worth the price. However, as carts immediately came around en masse, it seemed that all the food was already prepared and on the carts, including deep fried items, bbq items, and specialty dishes. Only the steamed dishes looked hot, and meatballs and shumai were not what we had in mind. We picked the deep fried shrimp balls and shrimp seaweed rolls to start off but saw that both dishes were room temperature - not hot and crispy -- so they were taken to "be warmed" - a microwave I suppose - and they came back hot but very greasy and overly chewy. What a disappointment. We decided to stop there and cut our meal short. Believe me, I hate writing a negative review, I was taught that if you cannot say something nice don't say anything. So sorry, but I doubt we will return. Very disappointing after so many years of wonderful dim sum lunches. We have always loved Jasmine, but no longer.
We sought perfection. Mission accomplished.
Authentic and delicious dim sum as expected— almost every item we chose was among the best we’ve experienced in over 30 years of enjoying dim sum. The service was simply impeccable. Great conversation with one of the staff and the owner, both of whom set the tone for the West Coast / Hong Kong style dining experience we had hoped for, and received. Should we return to the area for future USMC-related activities, we will absolutely revisit. Note that they have a takeaway service site (Jasmine Express) next door — the main restaurant does dine-in only.
Easter brunch dim sum!
Came for the dim sum brunch on Easter. Only reason I came was the rolling carts. Boy do they have lots of cars with variety! Glad we got there around 10:30am as it got full fast with a long line when we left. Typical dim sum fare but some nice choices like shrimp rolls, char siu bao, etc. My favorite was the crab roll with the leg sticking out. For the most part everything was tasty and authentic, huge variety with lots of carts going back and forth. Unfortunately for us we grab things and then get full fast. My suggestion is to wait a wait and let carts go by until you see the full spread then call them back. It is a bit pricey I thought with a few dim sum places being $9!!! I guess I'm old skool where the plates need to be between $3-4 dollars. Some where but the more exotic stuff was much more expensive. Still a nice traditional experience with the rolling carts and we would definitely come back; we just need to control ourselves hahahaha. Definitly worth a try!

The chicken and eggplant in the clay pot was very good! The side cucumber salad was good. The rice was okay. Felt like it was uncle Bens one minute rice, warmed up in the microwave. The coconut bread was good, after I asked them to warm it up because they served it cold. The service was okay, my friend ask for hot tea and our server slammed her empty cup when putting it on our table. I found it rude. Ambiance was okay, not what I expected it. However, they did have a flowering background where you can take pictures. Overall, I had better Chinese food!
Exceptional, true Chinese celebration-quality food - like
Exceptional, true Chinese celebration-quality food - like the kind of food that we would all share for special events like Grandparent's birthdays, Mother's or Father's Day, Graduations or Weddings. Four reasons to eat at Jasmine: If you know real Chinese food and appreciate authentic flavor and quality - you need eat here! You'll an outstanding and truly delicious meal! If you have a parent, uncle or aunt, grandparent, and want to treat them to a special meal, they will enjoy their meal here. If you're adventurous and want to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine, not trendy Asian-fusion/Pafic Rim creations If you're tired of Chinese take-out or Western-Style chain food, give you and your family a chance to enjoy a new taste treat! One caveat, this is a 20 year-old restaurant, designed in the 80's style Chinese Banquet Hall - so it lacks the aesthetic of the many trendy restaurants in San Diego. And unless you have a very enlightened, open-minded date, this may not be 'the' place with the curb appeal that wins them over. But if you value substance over style, the food will win you over!!
Nice restaurant to get dim sum
This is a great place to get dim sum, which I think is above average in terms of selection and quality. The restaurant is spacious and has a nice ambiance. The dim sum price is reasonable.
Beautiful Chinese food
We ended up here as couldn't get into Kura Sushi around the corner.... but what a great surprise it was. Food was delicious. Service was great. Decor is super average but we loved the food!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice

I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
