Creole House Restaurant & Oyster Bar New Orleans Reviews from The Last Year
Food was good, very small portions over priced! Servers
Food was good, very small portions over priced! Servers were friendly and efficient. Have no desire to go back. S
Delicious food and courteous staff!
Dinner first night in town. Introducing my son to New Orleans cuisine. He wasn't sure about seafood so settled on a taste of the city; red beans and rice, gumbo and jambalaya. My favorites at Creole House (repeat visitor) are to double up on appetizers (Crab Claws and Shrimp YaYa with an extra order of bread to sop up the sauces). My mistake-I encouraged my son to just have a couple of bites off my plates...that's the last I saw of my supper.. lol
If I could this place 0 stars, I would.
Is this like a tourist trap? You get the NOLA vibes without the good Cajun food to back it up. They were literally out of everything! Including any soft drinks. It took us over an hour to get our food and it was barely warm! Worst étouffée I have ever had. The waiter was not a good one and was a little scam artist. One of the girls in our group picked her tip on the Toast machine and when she got back to the hotel she noticed it was changed to 20%. This place is a joke. Don't waste your time or money.
The place was packed and I ended up sitting at the bar
The place was packed and I ended up sitting at the bar because the wait for a table was almost an hour. Not a problem. The bartender with the locks and the server working the bar area with him were absolutely phenomenal. They made me feel right at home. The food was good but I've had better in the area. I don't regret stopping here, but it won't be a priority to return. Again the people were amazing.
We had a great meal today and an even better server, Tish!
We had a great meal today and an even better server, Tish! The food was delicious and we enjoyed the neat building ! Tish was a great server who went over and above to make sure we had everything we needed! Highly recommend!
Great place to eat! I absolutely loved the shrimp and grits.
The portion size is small for the price but overall great tasting food.
Poor
Ugh poor…blackened shrimp was cold basically frozen thawed shrimp no taste thrown on tasteless place had bad atmosphere with too many tables in the space to enjoy dinner.
I will start with the food, then the service.
There were a lot of good selections to choose from. I ordered the Blackened Redfish which was so well seasoned and cooked exceptionally well. The Brussels sprouts were also good. As an appetizer, I ordered the fried alligator which was good and worth a try when you are in New Orleans. I also ordered a dip with crab I can't remember the name but was good. Service was okay. However they will do one check, I was at a conference and it was not the most convenient to share a check and then have to divide bill separately and reimburse.
Our service was awesome!! Our waitress made our experience
Our service was awesome!! Our waitress made our experience enjoyable. Location was great
This placed came highly recommended.
I don't know what I expected but I expected more. Especially since earlier in the day it was a line of people waiting to enter the establishment. Once we made it inside, it felt crowded. Our servers were amazing! Food especially the chicken alfredo was a 5 out of 5. The charboiled oysters AMAZING! The reason for the 3 rating is due to the ambience. For such a popular establishment and location, the bathroom needed some tender love and care. Especially the men's restroom on the second level. No paper towel or a worker hand dryer.
Food didn't arrive.
Cockroaches failing from ceiling.dont go. Too expensive. Waiter didn't check up on us.
This may well go down as the best meal I end up having
This may well go down as the best meal I end up having during my New Orleans trip. I'm not a huge seafood person but I can appreciate a good meal. I will say you should expect a bit of a wait to get into this place. Even as a party of 1 it was a 30 minute wait. But the wait was well worth it. I was stuck between the redfish and the stuffed fish so I leaned on the waitress for her perspective. She told me both were really good but she liked the garlic sauce on the redfish a bit more. It's been four days in New Orleans and I have tasted anything better.
Best Gumbo Ever
We all agreed. It was unanimous...this was our favorite dinner restaurant while we were in New Orleans. No wonder the security guard at our hotel recommended it. The gumbo was delicious and the caramel bread pudding was to die for. The oysters were good too. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal.
Exceptional space to enjoy a great atmosphere, community, and a hometown meal.
This is an exceptional space to enjoy a great atmosphere, community, and a hometown meal. This was the first stop in NOLA for dinner. This was a great presentation of NOLA and traditional food. The fried calamari fresh and crisp. The shrimp po-boy was exceptional. Lightly fried shrimp served with pickles, tomatoes, lettuce and seasoning. The french bread crisp out crust and soft inside. Generous amount of shrimp. The cocktails are refreshing. Enjoyed the cucumber cooler.
Disappointing!
Pretty disappointed with our dinner here. Girls out the front were pretty unfriendly. On receiving our serve of onion rings, we found them to be lukewarm, so we sent them back after trying one each to establish that they weren’t hot enough. The plate came back with the exact same number of onion rings which we sent back (5 of them, 7 before we ate one each) had been re cooked and were overdone. When a roaming more senior staff member enquired about how we enjoyed our food, we told him about the onion rings, and really, he couldn’t have cared less. If this occurred in Australia, the item would have been freshly replaced or removed from the bill with an apology. Waiter service was ordinary at best. Overall, a disappointing experience for our first meal in New Orleans.
Delicious
Wonderful food! The portions were large, the food delicious and the desserts were WAY TOO MUCh - in a good way. The only problem was the loudness of the room.
Good Food Generally
Had great oysters here, bacon and garlic, delicious. We both had the taste of three which is three small portions of local cuisine. Great option to taste all. Food was great, service was a bit lacking, general vibe only okay do skipped dessert and went elsewhere for it.
Must go best food
Absolutely loved it the atmosphere was so nice the waitress was awesome and the food omg the food I can’t remember last time I ate something that good well worth the price
Outstanding Food
We had lunch here on April 15, 2024. We enjoyed it so much we had breakfast here on April 16,2024. This will be a two-meal review. First lunch. We were greeted and promptly seated. We had an excellent server name Stephan. We had a couple of mixed drinks, a meal and desert. Erik had the Taste of New Orleans 4 for lunch and the Strawberry Short Cake for desert. Cheryl had the sautéed vegetables for lunch and the Chocolate Mousse Cake for desert. The food arrived in a reasonable time period and was well presented. Everything was delicious and the portions were good. Stephen provided excellent service. A truly great lunch. The next day for breakfast we were greeted and promptly seated. Our server was friendly and helpful. We had a couple of Bloody Mary's and breakfast. Erik had the Bayou Bowl and Cheryl had the Garden Omelet. The food arrived in a reasonable time and was well presented. Like lunch it was delicious and filling. We enjoyed our visits here. We give the place our highest recommendation.
