Adam Reid at The French Manchester Reviews from The Last Year
Wow!
What a fantastic experience! 12 courses of wonderfully crafted Northern cuisine. You must go there hungry, because the amount and quality of food is worth every minute of the at least three hours of time it will take to complete the menu. How this restaurant does not have a Michelin Star I’ll never know!
Something very special
Outstanding food and service. We had the 12 course taster menu which was one of the best we’ve had. The food and service for spot on
Awesome
What an amazing restaurant this is. We had the 12 course signature menu. The food was the best I’ve ever had. Adam Reid should really be awarded a Michelin star for the french. The staff are great. Very friendly and attentive and knowledgeable on what they are serving. I’m lucky I’m from Manchester and can easily revisit for a repeat. It’s definitely worth £130 per head for the amazing courses. Well done team!!
Should be Michelin
A great evening the staff were very attentive and the food absolutely delicious We are frequent visitors but the place just gets better how it missed out on a Michelin star this week I’ll never know
Truly memorable
Never tried a tasting menu before so why not try what is perceived to be the best in Manchester? A fantastic idea….let’s go for New Year’s Eve…….it was truly memorable. This is top notch service, food, ambience…..the lot. Not cheap but if price is you’re concern, this isn’t for you….if value is, this is definitely for you. Has to be the best dining experience I’ve ever had. 12 courses, wine flight……tastes that I want to taste again. Some of the combinations of flavours/ingredients were stunning. Hopefully we can book again for next New Year’s Eve…….
Brilliant
What a fantastic treat this place was. Amazing food and service. Relaxed but attentive. We were visiting the hotel for the weekend and booked the French based on convenience and reviews. It gave so much more. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area who loves food and is looking for a treat. Will definitely return when next in Manchester.
Some of the best food in the city centre
We first ate at the French in 2008. That was the old French – the “grande dame” of Manchester restaurants, in the “grande dame” of the city’s hotels. We’ve been back every year since then - through its time under Simon Rogan, with Adam Reid as his head chef to recent years where Adam has been the gaffer on his own account. Truth be told, I know it’s better now than it was under the multi- Michelin starred Rogan. More relaxed, the food more focused on folk having a good time. We’ve come away from meals in recent years wondering how on earth the Michelin accolade hasn’t yet been awarded to Adam. What more could he do to improve? Well, maybe this could finally be the year. Michelin are holding their awards ceremony at the Midland in February. Is it an omen? Maybe so. And, if my guess is right, the restaurant is going to be jammed for months, so we got our annual visit in early. Just in case, you know. And not to tempt fate. And, speaking of it being jammed, it definitely wasn’t on a midweek January evening. Only us and two other tables. It meant there was zilch atmosphere, worsened by the fact all three groups were seated in one of their booths, grouped in the middle of the room, so you felt you were cut off in your own little bubble. Such a shame – the oval shaped room is lovely and is actually “listed” for its architectural significance, but you don’t get to really see it from your booth. Service remains warm and friendly, with everything happening just as it should. Dishes are brought to you and explained by chefs, while the two front of house staff clear dirty crockery, keep the drinks topped up, etc. Their tasting menu format is now well established, although individual dishes change with the seasons or are tweaked. And you’ll not be left in any doubt that this is a restaurant in the North. Not least in the “Warm Northern Welcome” – Pollen Bakery’s “malt loaf”, with beer butter and a powerful onion broth. That’s followed by a series of snacky things, including a two bite crispy “chicken and scallop butty”, that culminates in Adam Reid’s take on family leftovers. First up, house smoked salmon and then lovely sticky glazed slices of ham with house made mustard and bread. And then on to a trio of more substantial dishes – Firstly, a deep cup with a broccoli custard in the bottom, topped with a little duck offal stew, Tunworth cheese and crispy kale. Then a small fillet of cod, perfectly grilled, so the flesh just flaked apart, sat on some squash puree There was also a cream curry sauce that was described by the chef as something in between what you’d get with butter chicken and a Goan fish curry sauce but it really needed to be more assertive in the curry spicing. And, finally, a couple of slices of duck breast. Perfectly crispy skin. Parsnip puree, more of the kale and a cherry pickle. My companion in life isn’t too keen on duck, so I did quite well for “seconds” here. They serve what I suppose might be called a cheese course next. Just Stichelton, served from a wheel of it. But this is no ordinary cheese course. Although all the elements of a traditional cheese board are there, everything is combined to make it something a dessert dish. So, there’s fruit in the form of an apple sorbet. Candied walnuts for crunch and sweetness. Traditional dried fruits in the form of a prune and booze puree. And the scattering of the salty, creamy blue cheese. It’s an inspired preparation and utterly delish. A baked custard is the first of the proper desserts. It’s well spiced with ginger and decorated with a crisp tuile, flavoured with the citrus from sea buckthorn. Then the restaurant’s signature “tipsy cake” a light sponge, infused with rum, with a drizzle of more rum spooned over it. That’s served with cream and a little cup of tea. Espresso rounds off the meal. It comes with a really good two bite chocolate tart.
Well worth every penny and a most magical experience for not only the palette but for the whole body and mind!
This was one the best culinary experiences of my life. The ambience, customer service and the food was incredible from start to finish. Lets start with the food....The bread at the start was a magical way to start and set the tone - who would have thought bread and a beef infused butter with a little broth would be special - but it was. The starters were a little bit of magic for the palette - each having its own theme and individual taste but all complimenting each other. I loved how the chef came out to explain the dishes and add a little personal touch at the table. The cured salmon and cold cuts were so melt in the mouth and gave a little break before the mains. Each main was thought out so beautifully and felt like a work of art. I felt like I was going through earths elements with the earthy flavours of the offal/kale and truffle, then sea and air with the cod and curried foam (light and delicate) then finishing with the slightly charred tasting and bitter but perfectly balanced duck. I found myself excited for the next courses to arrive and what not just my palette but my whole mind and body would experience. It wasnt just food...it was a taste experience. Ok...so sweets are my vice...I was worried three courses of sweet would be too much but it wasnt. the Baked English custard With Cheshire berries & nutmeg was so delicate and creamy with crispy elements to balance it. The tipsy sponge was a highlight for me. melt in the mouth - and I made such a big deal to the server how good it was the chef came out and gave me an extra slice....so sweet! The final dessert with espresso was the perfect end to the evening and the wine that was suggested (we didnt do the pairing menu but just had one wine for the starter section, one for main and one for dessert and that was perfect for us) was so great with every dish. The customer service was spot on and what you would expect for a high end dining experience. The chefs who presented the food looked to genuinely love what they were cooking and the atmosphere was calming and magical. I would recommend everyone does this once in their life. It was expensive but it was a treat that was well worth every penny. Thank you.
Special experience.
Delicious progressive food in beautiful historic dining room with charming, helpful knowledgable staff. One of the best dining experiences in the North West great chef a must do experience.
A totally memorable experience!
Totally memorable! One delightful taste experience after another. I tasted food I would never have chosen from a menu, but was blown away by each culinary delight. The service was excellent and the staff were professional and friendly. I LOVED it!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
