Can't go wrong with Mexican in Houston - fun atmosphere -
Can't go wrong with Mexican in Houston - fun atmosphere - good tacos. Easy to walk too
Beautiful Ambience.
Food wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked. Not too many options. service was exceptional!
I love this place.
I typically get my old fashioned drink with mezcal and bourbon and it's pretty good. My wife and I have a tradition of always getting caracoles en mole Amarillo, and tlayuda de res (filling). Molotes de queso are also pretty good, and even though the ostiones are delicious, we don't always get them because it gets pretty expensive expensive and not filling enough for my standards haha
Coming here had been a long time want.
I ended up on a random Sunday after church.... and the buffet was fabulous. Sunday brunch buffets in houston so far have been good, but Xochi takes the cake so far. The salads, main dishes. And sweets are so wonderfully curated they make a Sunday that much more perfect. The service was superb, and the buffet was so good. I truly enjoyed all the healthy options. Xochi is a great place for family or friends to gather.
My first time at Xochi was about 5 years ago (for dinner)
My first time at Xochi was about 5 years ago (for dinner) and I was left slightly unimpressed. I've tried all of chef Hugo's restaurant and like them all. Today I decided to give xochi a second chance and I thought their brunch buffet was decent. Not bad but nothing impressive like the buffet at caracol. The restaurant itself is very nice. Our waitress did an amazing job checking up on our party of 8. Parking USE TO BE complimentary and now it's $11.50 which sucks, but it's downtown so I guess that's expected. Probably wouldn't come back or recommend. I think you're better off going to urbe, hugos, or caracol!
Great location and great food.
The Marriott Marquis isn't going to have a lame restaurant inside! They also have a great tequila selection.
Happened to be staying at the Marriott Marquis and decided
Happened to be staying at the Marriott Marquis and decided to eat here since it was adjacent to the hotel. It was a great decision. It is always a plus when patio seating is available. The drinks were amazing and the food was on point. Xochi is an authentic Mexican gem! The vibe, food, and drinks are amazing. The ambiance is vibrant, the dishes are bursting with flavor, and the handcrafted cocktails are a must-try. I highly recommend this restaurant while visiting Houston and, of course, even for locals, for an unforgettable Mexican dining.
Horrible experience.
I ordered what was described as a large tortilla with Mets on top. What I got was a burnt, hard/crunchy flat bread with pieces of meat on top (literally a pizza). After a couple bites I realized this wasn't right... called the waitress over and she said it shouldn't be like that. They asked what I wanted to order instead. I ordered another steak dish. It was a 4/10 to day the least. The bill arrived, and instead of charging me for the original cheaper dish they charged me for the newer expensive dish. Usually restaurants try to make it right and compensate you a bit for the hassle. Whatever, I paid it. Then she brings me the receipt to sign and she swiped the card for a higher amount (with BOTH dishes on there). She said that was a mistake, but I know they were trying to pull a fast one on my hoping I wouldn't notice. Food was horrible and the staff were horrible.
Service 10/10, food 10/10, manger 10/10.
Loved the place and it was just a fantastic experience
Spectacular in every way.
Service, drinks food all amazing. We over did it and ordered too much but sooooo worth it. Try the moles, great deep flavors. The ribs with ants were also a huge hit. Nothing disappointing will definitely go back.
Slightly pricey but good food and extremely convenient
Great and convenient spot for dinner if you're staying at the hotel or are at the convention center across the street. Friendly staff, busy but got us a table quickly, delicious food. Slightly pricey, but prices definitely hiked due to the area/being a part of the hotel. Worth it for the convenience alone.
Holy Mole this place is yummy.
My family and I ate here 3 times in a 4 day trip to Houston. Iโd never really had authentic Oaxaca food, and this place really delivered. Iโll definitely go back.
A Wonderful Eating Experience!
We happened to be staying at the Marriott Marquis and decided to eat here since it was adjacent to the hotel. It was a great decision. It is always a plus when patio seating is available. The drinks were amazing and the food was on point. We started with a Memela, I will simply attach a picture because I would not do it justice with my description of this delectable appetizer. I was brave and ordered the Barbacoa De Res De Zaac and let me tell you it was beautifully presented and was far more than I expected. The way the meat was prepared was tasty and tender and the vegetables, well, I really would like to know exactly what they were. I thought they were peppers but tasted more like potatoes. You are probably wondering why I did not ask our wonderful Waiter, Juan C, but I couldn't finish my meal and ate the leftovers for lunch the next day and he was not there to ask. My son and daughter opted for the enchiladas and they both devoured their entire dinners so I am considering that as they were pleased with their exceptional meal choice. We had no room for dessert even though the description of the offerings were enticing. That's okay though because that just means we will have to go back to Xochi the next time we visit Houston.
for a Mexican evening
to savor Mexican cuisine, definitely a very pleasant restaurant. Nice and fresh environment, service not very fast, but suitable for us to relax on an evening with friends. It's certainly not cheap but we are in America. However, very generous dishes.
Flavor explosion
This restaurant is amazing! The flavors are explosive and the Cacoa dessert was the Best dessert I have ever had. 5 stars!โญ๏ธ
Delicious, Elevated Mexican Food with Excellent, Thoughtful Service
We enjoyed celebrating New Year's Eve at Xochi, and the four course meal they served was absolutely fantastic. I had the crispy potato tacos with salsa roja, cotija cheese, and crema fresca to start. They were delicious. In fact this may have been my favorite course of the evening. For the salad course, I had the spinach salad that came topped with a hibiscus vinaigrette, apple, and pear. It was excellent, a salad I was actually excited to eat. For my entree, I ordered the costilla de res - a beef short rib in a pasilla mole; it was flavorful and fork tender. Dessert was an elote cake with rompope cremeux, candied guava, vanilla cream, and pecan ice cream. Not as sweet as American desserts, the flavors blended together so nicely, and it was rich and comforting. The only miss of the night for me was the Xochi Rita that was described as having orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, and citrus syrup. I was looking forward to something fruity and refreshing, but the smoke of the mezcal overwhelmed the drink for me. Our wonderful server, Cesar, noticed I wasn't drinking it and offered to bring me something else. I thought that was so kind. This is the type of restaurant that wants to delight their customers. Tremendous thought and effort seem to go into everything they do, and yet they make it look effortless. If you're a foodie looking for elevated Mexican food with excellent service, Xochi is hard to beat.
An excellent and authentic Mexican restaurant
Truly one of the best Mexican restaurants in the United States. It is hard for me to pick a favorite because everything I had there was incredibly good. The service was exemplary and the ambience was ideal. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.
Wonderful food and Service
We reserved a table at Xochi to eat dinner before a concert. It was really a perfect location, with great staff and amazing food. We were early enough to order off of the Happy Hour menu. I loved everything we tried, but the potato tacos were my favorites. The drinks were tasty and strong. I canโt wait to go back and eat there again! We did enjoy sitting outside as it was quieter than inside.
Great food, very good service
One of the best Mexican restaurants I eat at. I was promptly seated despite the place being busy and me not having any reservation. Service was quick, professional, attentive. My waiter (William), was very patient and answered my questions and provided very good and helpful advices. Food was nicely presented, tasted great. I highly recommend this place.
