Hostesses were sweet but the server we had was sassy and rude. Also outrageous they wouldn't make a simple liquor switch. They only have mezcal cocktails on their specialty cocktail menu so I asked to just swap it with tequila and they would not. Not doing such a simple switch is so dumb when you're paying 20$ a cocktail. Wouldn't recommend. Not even as cute in person as the pictures online.

This place is lovely- from the service, vibes, and plenty of vegetarian options, my boyfriend and I were super happy! Highly recommend the beets and citrus appetizer, along with the oyster mushroom comfort food, and pepperoni pizza.

1 star I had a reservation for one person at the community table and the hostess and staff refused to honor it because I was alone. They said I could only sit at the bar or at a hightop or outside because I was alone. I am a senior citizen. The community table I reserved was completely empty. This discriminatory policy seems illegal and is hurtful to single diners.
Be the first to ReplyThe space and atmosphere is amazing.
The salads are delicious and the waitstaff is great. Be aware of the bartender. After ordering a mixed drink, he pushed more expensive booze, without us realizing that it was an expensive upgrade. The salmon is a bit flavorless and scant -- leaving us hungry after eating. The portions are smaller than Workshop in Palm Springs and the main courses we ordered needed sides to make a meal.
Be the first to ReplyNice vibe.
The staffs are really friendly. Too bad that not much customers when we came on a weekday. The appetizers are great. We ordered flat iron stakes and scallops...... but they were salty.....it seems like they did not taste the sauce before push out from the kitchen....
Be the first to ReplyWe landed at Workshop Kitchen + Bar for my birthday dinner
We landed at Workshop Kitchen + Bar for my birthday dinner and it was perfect for our intimate group of 4. We specifically booked a pod to sit in and it was great. A restaurant like this could easily be so loud you can't hear yourself think let alone the person next you, but the pods created a nice environment where you could have a great conversation on a busy night. It was quite packed on the Saturday evening that we went and our waitress gave us the heads up that she was dealing with a few bigger parties but not to worry because she would check up on us regularly and she followed through on that promise. The food was top notch and the cocktails were even better. I recommend the pork chop - noting that my husband and I split it and we still couldn't finish all of it. For appetizers we ordered the asparagus (A+ but small portion) the goat cheese and beets (delicious) and fried mushrooms (a little too salty). The staff was excellent. Attentive and friendly. The lights went out towards the end of our dinner and so many of the staff including the manager checked on us to make sure we were okay. We even had one last parting conversation with the manager outside the restaurant while we were waiting for our Uber. Pro tip: if you save room for dessert order the chocolate soufflé. They need a 20 mins heads up to prepare it.

Just recently hosted a business dinner for 30 at Workshop Kitchen and bar LA. It was an incredible evening, Gabrielle, Autumn, and all the servers were extremely accommodating to our guests, providing vegetarian options to their delicious duck fat fries without making anyone uncomfortable. The food was amazing, not one course was bad. The duck fat fries, baba ganoush, smoked Japanese sweet potato and deserts were insane. They even paused the music for us so we could say a few words. What a gem of a restaurant. Highly recommend for anything from a business dinner to a romantic night out. Thank you Workshop LA!

If we are talking design, it's good, and it's a big area; we sat at regular tables, but the space looks nice If talking about food- good presentation, ok taste, whatever we taste was just ok If we are talking about service - my server was terrific, friendly, understanding, and always there for all requests and questions, our waiter was Chriss, and we had waiters like that at every restaurant; I would have a great experience regardless of the food bc some places food is amazing, but service sucks, thank you for making my night so much better Chris.
Be the first to ReplyI'd previously had dinner and drinks at the Palm Springs
I'd previously had dinner and drinks at the Palm Springs location, so I was excited to try the new Workshop in L.A., where I actually live. I'd had a slice of pizza not too long before arriving, so I just had drinks at the bar this time. I started with the Kitchen Sink Martini because I love olive juice and pickled vegetables, and it did not disappoint. It's an incredibly well-balanced martini, whose olive-washed gin and orange bitters give it a sweet citrusyness without tartness, and a slippery mouth feel. Although my bartender, Nick, was good at checking to make sure I didn't need any food, I was really just there for drinks, so I finished my time there with a cold brew martini. Their martini puts most espresso martinis to shame, with cold brew concentrate and a bit of espresso dust on top and a nice foamy head. A great, coffee-forward drink that's not too desserty and very well-balanced. I was flying solo, so I enjoyed my time at the bar chatting with Nick the bartender and will definitely be back to try more.

This place is so hype in the Chinese community where my friend originally found articles about this and made her wish to have her birthday dinner here. so I made reservation and left a note of the occasion. On the day before we arrives, I called to confirm and remind the birthday occasion. Upon arrival, I remind and introduce who's the birthday to the host, he made his greeting wishes and mentioned will do something special. The interior is the attraction. Food was good, nothing wow. We finished dinner and proceed to order all 3 desserts. I thought that's our signal to do the special thing, but then the 3 desserts bought out, just desserts. Then, another party singing birthday song. Our server came and left the bill, so I stepped out of our pod and ask our server. She said that the table were singing within their own group. That's how I found out they wasn't going to do anything. I came home and saw another picture on here by someone else posted has a 'happy birthday' on the plate when they ordered the same dessert? It just really really sucks for her to watch others getting birthday treatment but not her. The whole purpose of the visit is to celebrate birthday vs if we just dine here it could've been totally different experience. If it is the new normal to not help guests to celebrate birthday, could've let us know during reservation, tell me to bring your own cake or something. Servers we encountered seems nice. I don't know who's fault or what's wrong in between but I know where i won't go for my birthday.

Stunning interior with very friendly and helpful service with incredible and delicious dishes. Came on an impromptu Thursday evening. Had been when they first opened w the fixed menu and was great to be back w the a la carte menu. Delicious wine, the mushrooms and babaghanouj starters were perfect and hanger steak was perfection. Amazing chefs married with a beautiful space is such a treat. Keep up the great work to all!

From the beautiful interior design to the delicious thoughtfully crafted menu, the workshop LA exceed my dining experience.Let's first start with hospitality. Our lovely server Autumn was so knowledgeable about the menu and the ingredients that Chef-owner Michael Beckman thoughtfully curated with each dish. Gabriel, the host was so welcoming and warm as well.Moving onto the food, wow wow wow. Each plate was so delicious. What I love about the menu is how chef and his team focus on the current, fresh and in season items making the menu taste intentional and special with every bite. The ambience in this space is straight to the point -- instagram worthy with an inviting touch. From the center dining tables, to the private-like rounded cocoon areas to the private long 18 seat table upstair, there are plenty of seating options to choose from to enjoy your experience with any guest.I absolutely look forward to coming back.

Live in the Neighborhood, have been a frequent patron since they opened, love the craft cocktails the food had always been hit and miss, apparently now and I guess since Covid, you cannot and I mean cannot have a drink at the bar or even meet friends, you must eat at the bar only, the bar used to be fun, oh well there are plenty of other great restaurant bars in Town, the owners should get a Clue, they clearly are not experienced restraunteurs.
Be the first to ReplyFor $600 this was place was an absolute ripoff.
I wish someone would have asked how the food was or gave us a second thought. But besides the AC giving off helicopter vibes in the alien pod and then having to move seats, we had a merry go round of wait staff forgetting who ordered what and the most mediocre food one could imagine. Really embarrassed me to the friends I brought on a long awaited double date. Save your money - go anywhere else. Try Black Market in Studio City and thank me later.

We love the Palm Springs version so when we saw this we had to stop in. Prior to sitting I checked Yelp and thought maybe the low score was due to teething issues. We had the butter salad and hanger steak which we enjoyed. The duck fat fries seemed more like standard fried from any cafe. Our soufflé was way under cooked which was really disappointing. Overall we would go back back preferably Palm Springs.

I know it was Valentines & the Busiest day of the year for the Restaurant industry. We did have to wait outside in the COLD WEATHER before we got called & get seated. Me & my Partner were very glad to finally get out of the cold. When we sat the Hostess had no apologies for the wait. Ya know that was OK! Its expected on Valentine's We had to wait for any kind of service No one approached us when the waiter finally came to our table his instruction was ARE YOU READY TO ORDER ? WoW no explication of anything me & my partner were confused as we purchased the Pre-set menu. Were so frustrated at this point! The meal was adequate & service was awful. I guess since the Restaurant is somewhat new there still trying to figure things out. I wish at one point a Manager would of come to us & Table Touch! Anything Even as we left the Host said NOTHING! Not a Thank you WOW

The absolute worst service I've ever received in a restaurant. My man & I made reservations for Valentine's Day and when we walked in, the manager told us he couldn't find our reservation. Then he realized that he sat a different couple at our table under our reservation instead of theirs. We had to wait 45 minutes for another table to open up. After sitting at our table for an hour and a half, all we got was our first course (there's supposed to be 4). The kitchen was so backed up, the waiters were no where to be found, and everyone was looking around confused as to why no food was coming out of the kitchen. After sitting at our table for 2 hours and only being served an appetizer, we got up and left. The only nice thing is that the manager didn't make us pay for the appetizer. Don't even waste your time going to this restaurant, complete waste of time and money.

I love Workshop in Palm Springs so I had been waiting with anticipation for the new location on La Brea. Unfortunately, my experience here didn't mirror the experience I had both with taste and service, that I experienced in their desert location. The restaurant was only half full during our reservation and they're a new location so I expected service to be very attentive. Our server (won't name out of respect) had really really bad breath. It was really hard to enjoy our food given that every time he'd come to check on us we would smell some awful stench. We also felt like service was rushed a bit. Maybe it's because we were so mindful of his breath and we didn't want him to come by so frequently, but it really stuck to us as a bad experience. The food was 4 out of 5, but it lagged Palm Springs. Hope they work out their kinks before they close since they spent so much money to renovate.

Dined in Sep $100 tasting menu for 5 courses with different upgrades.Excellent service, okay food. Great cocktails.I was most impressed with the beautiful architecture and design of the restaurant. Unfortunately, if you want to sit in the alien pod, you need a party of at least 3.
