Thank you, Les, for a wonderful dining experience. The menu is a little eclectic so there is something for everyone. I had never had Shutome and quite enjoyed it. The hamachi shashimi was delectable. The restaurant has such nice ambiance and lighting. It feels very cozy and romantic

Tidepools is an excellent choice in the Koloa & Poipu Point area for dinner. We had an open table reservation 3 weeks in advance and yet the earliest we could eat was 8:15pm. We Had tried in the past via open table; yet after all, ,the restaurant was not full! Obvious conclusion is they cater to their Grand Hyatt clientele. The dinner was superb. Juan the waiter was excellent and knowledgeable. Service was 5 star. Food was 5 star. I settled on the decision to try the pork chop dinner which came with rice, asparagus and a special kimchee. Since my diet is low carb, Juan easily switched the rice to a Sweet potato mash The pork chop was cooked to perfection and was NOT dry, It had a glaze paired with it that made it very delicious. Rarely do I find sweet potatoes as a menu choice on Kauai. Asparagus was tender and tasteful. Kimchee was a delight. I realized that as a side dish it complimented the whole dinner; Onions and a touch of heat. Best kimchee I have eaten. Sweet potatoes were perfect. I have no complaint about the ambiance, food, and service which was 5 star excellent. Expect to deal with Valet parking and a journey to find the restaurant on the property; but one has only to ask and they are friendly. Most of the main dishes start at $54 to $61. This is a $$$$ restaurant and only the ala cart is $$$. If you want a superb meal and are willing to pay for it, the whole experience is worth the extra $$$$ price.

The hostess at this restaurant is undoubtedly the rudest I’ve run across in a long time. The hotel made the reservation but didn’t show on her screen. So no soup for you. Even after showing the hotel’s printout…it made her worse. Manager bought us cocktails. Guessing she is related to someone or there is a shortage of workers.

Tidepools provided a wonderful beginning to our time on Kauai. It’s a beautiful restaurant that has a dining area surrounded by water with fish and waterfalls. We ordered the crab cakes appetizer, Hawaiian Catch (mahi-mahi) and Shutome from our excellent server Robert, and each dish was immaculately prepared. Tidepools is now a permanent fixture on our list of places to visit in Kauai.

Please send our thanks and highest compliments to our amazing waiter, Les. He provided not only the highest level of dining service but also the kindest spirit and pleasant conversation throughout our night. His suggestions for coursing the food and his thorough review of the menu allowed us to make choices that let us sample everything we wanted to try and truly enjoy it all. It is evident that he genuinely loves his job and embodies true Hawaiian spirit. The Hyatt is very lucky to have him!

What can you say about ultra high end restaurants like Tidepools? The ambience, gorgeous. The service, attentive. The drinks, tasty, but overpriced. The food is delicious. Reasonable portions with HI flare. I have to say, the food was perfectly cooked…everything…like perfect. If you’re into dropping several hundred bucks at dinner, this is as good as any place in the world to do it. If you prefer cheaper eats, head to town.

We had a fantastic experience at Tidepools. Our waiter - Juan elevated the experience with his excellent service. Food and ambience excellent - service top notch. Seek out Juan’s section he’s amazing and you will love the food!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful setting, great food, and exceptional service.
Dinner here was exceptional. We started with Caesar salads and the beet and candied lemon appetizer. Sounds a little strange but very good. Main courses included the seared ahi, Hawaiian seafood special, and a swordfish special. All had outstanding flavors. Service by Ron was exceptional - very friendly but professional and knowledgeable. It is very expensive but is a good place to splurge while on vacation.

Tidepools is a very unique setting in the middle of the Hyatt grounds, but yet only a foot or so above the tide pool water. The pools are manmade, but still a cool effect. The best thing was the service - the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Not far behind was the food which was locally driven in style. We enjoyed our dinner very much.
Be the first to ReplyDon't understand the hype!
Just got done with dinner at Tidepools with my family. I seriously don't understand why this restaurant is so hyped. Fair disclaimer: None of us drink... so I can't comment about the drinks. But I do wonder if most of the high reviews are cos people are mesmerized by the alcohol that they are ready to accept average food and decent ambiance as amazing. We had the Hawaiian catch, Togarashi Ahi, Baby Lamb chops, Forbidden rice and something from the kids menu. The food was at best just ok... but cos of the hype and price, I'll have to give it a 2 star.

Incredible dinner with my husband. We had wine, sashimi, filet, and malasadas. Every bite was incredible. It was also nice to explore the grounds while we were there and even saw a monk seal on their beach. This was the best meal we’ve had from any island and I would highly recommend!
Be the first to Replyso good we ate here two nights
Our first night at the hotel, we ate at Tidepools and had a fantastic meal. We had a seat next to the koi which was beautiful and kept the kiddo entertained which was a big plus. Definitely recommend the Shipwreck Surfer -- fantastic drink. The purple taro garlic rolls are amazing. We started with the crab cakes which were excellent and I had the mahi which was cooked to perfection. My son raved about the molten lava cake so much so that we changed our reservation for the last night and ate here instead of a second night at Beach House. The malasadas are AMAZING! Not sure how we missed those the first night, but we gobbled them down the second night. I would suggest to management that they add an entree or two to the keiki menu. Not a lot to pick from especially for picky eaters and would have been a welcome addition. Service the second night was off -- took 10 minutes before server even made it to the table. Then the rest of the night we felt neglected -- never delivered appetizer and took a long time to get orders placed/food delivered, etc. Weren't offered a dessert menu until server brought the bill and we said we aren't done yet.
Be the first to ReplyLovely meal and atmosphere
We had a really lovely experience at Tidepools. The restaurant was beautiful and all the tables were situated among "tidepools" (aka koi ponds). Our server, Alejandro, was wonderful and gave us great wine recommendations to pair with our meal and even took our picture for us! The food was really delicious! Tip: make a reservation well in advance and try to get in before sunset for optimal views!

Had a great meal here. Service was fantastic and the food was exceptional. The fish was moist and the forbidden rice dish was outstanding. The dessert selection that was gratis, was super too. Expensive, but not out of sight for this level of quality. Beautiful views and decor too.
Be the first to ReplySo good we went twice
The atmosphere at Tidepools is so romantic. We were on our honeymoon and wanted a special dinner and it was located at our resort. The first night was so spectacular and our wait staff of Ron and Lynn was so special we rebooked for our last night. Kerari and Iverson were just as beautiful. Get the filet, it melted in our mouths and hands down best steak ever

Be the first to ReplySo good we ate here twice
We have been to Kauai 3 times and all 3 times have eaten at Tidepools at least once. Always great service, wonderful ambiance, and excellent food. My husband is celiac/gluten intolerant and has never gotten sick. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyJust awful
The noise level makes it impossible to hear. Use the free shuttle to go anywhere else. We were on tour, so ate off standard tour menu, and while I can't blame these people, for God's sake the food was mediocre.

Everything was just about perfect. Incredible atmosphere and view, friendly and attentive service, wonderful food. It was by far the best meal we had while on Kauai. Highly recommended.
