5 stars isn’t even for this Magnificent Hotel- True perfection in every category
The hotel is perfection in every category- location, beauty, service, gourmet cuisine, and amenities. I am a “high maintenance” traveler that has stayed in many top hotels around the world and this one stands out. Not one negative I can think of- truly. The interior is impeccably designed- beautiful like a palace with art work and sculptures like a museum. I definitely plan to return with friends next Spring. The weather was glorious- sunny and 70’s to low 80. Fantastic, scenic outdoor pool but also a lovely indoor pool if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful place to stay in Porto!
We loved everything about this hotel. The location, the service, the large rooms with amazingly comfortable beds and pillows, and the fabulous breakfasts! We also had a beautiful view from the balcony off our room. I can't say enough about how perfect it was for our stay in Porto!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect stay for our family
My family of 6 had a wonderful stay here. Our connecting rooms were large with a perfect view. Room service and dining was wonderful. The beds were the best we slept on on our trip. The spa was AMAZING, definitely a highlight for us. We were surprised by how easy it was to walk from the hotel to all of Gaia and Porto.
Be the first to ReplyParadise in the city
Yeatman's pillows and bed are some of the most comfortable things I've ever experienced! It really is like sleeping on a cloud! The breakfast is rich and varied, the indoor pool has an incredible view of the beautiful city of Porto. The perfect place to rest without being too far from the hustle and bustle of the city, if we want.
Be the first to ReplyLovely place in Gaia
Somewhat dated but that's part of charm. Each floor has a different theme regarding wine. Room was good but could use a refresh. We ate at the hotel retaurant one night and had drinks and apps at the bar another night. Staff very friendly. Would stay there again as a couple but I would not bring younger kids as there are not really any kid oriented activities.

Very good hotel With a amazinh SPA and Views. The pool have an amazing view to Porto and the restaurant with chefe Ricardo Costa is very good too Highly recommended if you want a 5 star hotel. All workers are very friendly and professionals. See you next year.
Be the first to ReplyNot quite 5 star
I would like so badly to give this a five star review but there are a few things that fall short. First, the people are amazing highlighted by Daniela at the concierge. The view of Porto from the back deck is stunning and our room had an amazing view as well. At the time of our stay the highly rated restaurant was closed so we can't comment on that. My overall thoughts on the actual amenities is where things fall a touch short. We felt it was a bit old and outdated including the rooms. The rooms are huge with a great view and a very nice bathroom. The bed is very comfortable and it is a very nice touch that each room has a different theme. But it looks like nothing has changed in years, to its detriment. We just felt it needed an upgrade. Maybe its just me, but the crazy long hallways and the curtain in the lobby had kindof a flashback of The Shining vibes. Also, the location, while the best for views, is on the "other" side of Porto. So if you want shorter walks to the hub this might not be your spot. We are walkers so it wasn't a big deal but it is 30-40 minutes to the action. Overall, I may sound like I am nitpicking as the stay was terrific and we were happy with our choice. I just think there are opportunities to make this truly a 5 star gem of a hotel.
Be the first to ReplyJust one word-AMAZING
As soon as we walked through the doors, we knew we were going to be pampered. 10/10 service from staff. We ate the restaurant and we loved it. The spa, gym and pool came in handy. The hotel is located not far from all the major sites of Porto. Although it literally rained the whole 4 days we were there, the view was still amazing.
Be the first to ReplyAn incredibly wonderful experience where you feel really taken care of and special.
An extremely beautiful and delightful experience. From the moment you arrive, you are taken care of literally, everything from getting your car and luggage. Once you are checked in, the reception staff takes you to your room and explains how everything functions in said room. All the rooms have a view of the river and Porto and yet, when you are on your balcony, you are unseen by other people. The whole hotel is elegantly decorated with each floor having a dedicated theme. Yes you walk a lot but it is all worth it for the privacy you get. Service is splendid in the bar and restaurant as well. We were a tad disappointed that the Michelin Star restaurant was closed when we were there...I guess we will have to go back. Instead we had lunch at the Orangerie which was good but where the menu could have been more explicit about the spiciness of certain dishes, the lobster salad dressing was too spicy and acidic for me to be able to enjoy it fully. My husband's dish of pig's cheeks with barley and spinach was delicious. In order to celebrate my husband's birthday, I asked the concierge on the day we arrived to find us a private tour in English for the next morning and she managed to secure one of the best and most knowledgeable tour guides we have ever had (His name sounds like Elders).

This hotel is absolutely wonderful. The rooms are incredibly comfortable (every one having a great view of Porto from a balcony), the food is fantastic and the service impeccable. Would definitely stay again!
Be the first to ReplyAnother great stay at The Yeatman
This was our second stay at The Yeatman, and once again the experience was great. Breakfast is great, with options for every taste, the room was great (the heated floor was a nice surprise), and every service interaction was very nice, with a special mention to Mr. Sergio at the front door, who always had a smile for us.

My spouse and I stayed at this property for three nights in November 2022. The staff members are outstanding, professional, friendly and helpful. The property was beautiful, clean and well-maintained both inside and outside. We purchased the Porto Experience and are happy we did enjoying a fabulous breakfast daily, a tour and tasting at Taylor’s, lunch at Taylor’s and an experience at the WOW complex. We loved the view of Porto from the south shore of the Douro River in Vila Novo de Gaia and walked to Porto twice and also took Uber. Please do ask a team member for the best directions to walk the upper part of dom Luis Bridge (less up and down). We highly recommend this property and would love to return.

I have had the privilege of staying in some extraordinary hotels but The Yeatman is in a class of it's own. The Yeatman sets the standard for hospitality and from the moment you arrive into the lobby you realize this is going to be a unique experience. The staff give you individual attention and are genuinely attuned to your individual needs. The morning breakfast is unsurpassed and the selection including specialty coffees is an amazing way to start your day. The views from our rooms terrace were stunning and you felt like you hovering in the clouds. The indoor pool provides spectacular views across the river to Porto but the absolute must visit is their spa. Located near the pool, staff transport you to an area that takes you back in time to service and amenities you won't find at other properties. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the astonishing number of stunning Port wines, many of which we sampled. Sitting on your rooms terrace at the end of the day watching the sun set is something extraordinarily special and unique to The Yeatman. We can't wait to return to Portugal and The Yeatman.
Be the first to ReplyA stay that we will never forget
I can’t say enough our stay at the Yeatman earlier this month. Beyond the fantastic views of Porto and the top-notch facilities and rooms, the concierge and entire staff made our memorable time in Portugal one to remember. I actually planned a surprise proposal on the hotel’s gazebo overlooking the stunning views of the city at sunset, and Manuel Silva and the rest of his fantastic staff went out of their way to accommodate us with champagne, a private deck and so much more. Add in the spacious rooms, great food, grand views, fantastic spa and an indoor pool that was the best I’ve been in, and we can’t recommend the Yeatman enough. Porto will now always be a special place for us, and when we return — we know that we can call The Yeatman our home away from home.
Be the first to ReplyYeatman Restaurant Team FANTASTIC
My husband and I have eaten in the Yeatman restaurant since our arrival at the hotel these past 3 nights (not the ** restaurant). We kept going back because of the quality of the food and equally as important the wait staff. During this time we’ve been served by Lara, Sara, Paulo and Emanuel - all of the staff is excellent! They go out of their way to anticipate any desires we had. They quietly and efficiently bring the courses and the wine/port. They explain why certain wines/ports go with certain dishes and where these wines/ports are found (it turns out there are sub regions within the Douro Valley). For the 3rd night we asked the chef to create our dinner according to traditional Portuguese cuisine focusing on fish - it was fantastic (see attached). We travel all over the world and will remember this team as one of our most outstanding memories.

This hotel is probably one of the best hotels in the country, if not the best. I have been a customer for over 12 years, and each time I leave I know I want to come back as fast as possible. It is so well thought, kept, decorated and maintained, all topped with the best staff ever, that one never gets tired. The location, view, smells, touch feel and all the other sensations is absolutely mesmerizing. This is all topped with some of the best most refined food in Europe and a top class SPA. Food is created by a Michelin Chef, that looks into making each plate a unique experience. It´s absolutely amazing. It would be a large cliché on my side to keep on adding positive remarks and comments. Its really the best ever. Its is one of those places everyone should try, at least once in their lives. The views over Porto and the Douro river are amazing, the decoration and feel of the place, from the reception to the corridors to the extremely well decorated and comfortable rooms. And the beds…divine! The staff is hand picked top notch, highly educated and courteous. The perfection See the view in the attached photos. its this view you get form all rooms, from all restaurants, spa, bar etc. Just go.!

My wife and I stayed at the Yeatman for three evenings in early January (2023). EVERYTHING about that hotel was spectacular. The service was wonderful. The price for such a high end property was very reasonable. We loved our room; spacious and so very comfortable. The views from our room and almost everywhere in the hotel across the Duoro Revert Porto was stunning. The food was excellent, especially our 19 course tasting menu meal at their 2 Michelin Star restaurant. The bar, the fitness center, the indoor pool....all of it was amazing.
Be the first to ReplyAn all round delight
We stayed for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. The warm welcome at reception and glass of white port set the tone of understated, relaxed luxury. It has the feel of a historic hotel so we could hardly believe it was only 12 years old. Every room has a river view and a terrace and we soon got used to the slightly convoluted route down to our room via 2 lifts and 3 long corridors. We actually enjoyed stopping off at each floor at various points during our visit and looking at the art and the historical/wine information. The Decanter pool was glorious and on a typical Porto foggy day, the indoor pool and spa area were a fine substitute. The Sunday evening buffet at €70 each was our best meal. We were room only and found the room service breakfasts to be more than adequate plus cheaper than the €25 each for the breakfast buffet. If you are not dining in the gourmet restaurant, the selections for light evening meals in Dick's Bar or the Orangerie are limited. This was our only criticism. If you are tired out from a day walking around Porto and the final hard walk back up to the hotel, you may want to stay in place so the options available could be improved. It is a 40 minute walk into Porto, down some streets and over the upper bridge. Gaia is closer but again, a steep climb back up. Tip- go through WOW, take the lift to floor 2, walk through Taylor's and you come to a side gate of the hotel. The room was spacious, comfortable and had everything we need. All the staff were helpful and charming. This is a special hotel and I do not think you could do better in Porto.

Perfection summarizes que Yeatman experience. Staff, accommodations, restaurant, the breathtaking view of Porto. The unique sunset views. The panoramic pool. One of the best Hotels I have stayed at in every sense. Was fortunate to be upgraded to a larger suite and the weather was oddly (but wonderfully) warm, day and night. The gardens below the pool level where our suite was located were quite inviting, it felt like you had a private villa and your own private garden. A non alcoholic cocktail was offered to all guests during the afternoon, delivered to your towel. The pistachio ice cream is a must try and the francesinha was so so good (and I have had many, trust me). Lunch and Dinner were memorable, it is so rare to find an excellent Hotel with an amazing restaurant (and I didn't even try the gourmet one). In short, if in the area, do not hesitate to book.
Be the first to ReplyFive stars may not be enough
My wife and I recently traveled to Porto, Portugal. While we did not stay at the Yeatman this trip, we will on the next one. It is truly a world class hotel with marvelous and commanding views of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. The five star property sits high on a hilltop with views looking over the Douro River and the city of Porto. It may be the highest point in Nova de Gaia and it is definitely one of the nicest. We went there for drinks and dinner and sat outside on the deck. We witnessed a wonderful sunset as well as the changing landscape from daylight to dusk to night. It was spectacular. The staff is highly trained, efficient and polite. They are professional in every way and were attentive while not being intrusive. We enjoyed a gin and tonic (a local specialty) along with a number of delightful appetizers. On our next trip to Porto we do plan to stay here. It should not be missed. One caveat is that the climb to the top of the hill where the property resides is not for the faint of heart or weak bodied. It is a hearty hike to the top and the path is narrow. Since cars also use this cobblestone road, one must be very careful and yield to the mostly aggressive drivers of Porto. After dinner and drinks we elected to take a car down the hill as it is a bit treacherous after dark. Do not miss this wonderful property if you visit this area. Next time we will post more photos from this property if we do stay here. LOVELY property.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful with a small flaw
Very refined and exclusive hotel. Service was very good in almost all instances. Surprisingly the reception was not meeting expectations. Cold welcome, no help with luggage (12:30 was too early) we saw staff after 14:00, room not ready (though arrival had been communicated via mail several times), no text message/call as promised, had to ask ourselves 2 times to eventually at 15:30 being accompanied to our room. Also our question for a “late” check-out at 13:30h was handled not very professionally. Either the staff is not empowered or trained or lacks what you would expect from a five star hotel; they had to ask the manager for everything. Luckily the rest is fantastic including views and amenities, making up for the little disappointment at reception. The views from the terraces are splendid and Porto is just a little walk away; if you do not fancy the bridge, the small ferry is a perfect option. Taylor’s is recommendable also for a lunch; make sure you have your walking boots on, as Porto is demanding a certain fitness. The bar in the hotel offers a great variety of local wines by the glass - very recommendable to try different styles.
Be the first to ReplyLuxury stay in Porto
We stayed for 3 nights in a Deluxe River View room which was very spacious with a large balcony overlooking Porto. The welcome glass of port was a lovely touch. We were on floor 6 which we would recommend for the views. The bed was huge and super-comfy. We thought there could be some updating of the room, including the shower, but this didn’t detract from our stay. The concierge service was great, although if you’re staying at the weekend, restaurants do get busy. Breakfast was extensive - something for everyone. The bar was fabulous in the evening. Taylor’s Port is across the road (and well worth a visit) and it is a short walk to the river taxi to get to Porto. We’ll be back.
Be the first to ReplyGenuine luxury with the best views of Porto
As a wine lover, a trip to Porto was far too long in the planning. When it came to choosing the hotel, we wanted to be sure to choose somewhere that was genuinely part of the local wine scene. The Yeatman didn't disappoint. It felt like genuine old-school luxury. The staff were very attentive, mostly young (and some obviously still learning) and locally employed - which was helpful with local knowledge. They all spoke English very well, which was useful given our poor Portuguese. Our room was spacious and comfortable with absolutely stunning views across to the old town. The view from our window was genuinely picture perfect. The breakfast buffet was first class, although the service could have been a little quicker (we put that down to staffing problems post-pandemic). We signed up for a monthly wine dinner, which we checked with reception would be fine for English speakers. As it turned out, we got all of the food and wine and a full evening, but us non-Portuguese speakers really weren't given any translations, which was a bit of a disappointment. We were well looked after for our Spa treatment (which was basically a private couples jacuzzi and massage with views over to the Old Town at sunset, not really the wine barrel I had imagined!)

Architecturally over the top and the staff, even better. Ana listened to our evening of bad experiences at The Barao Floodgate restaurant nearby, with patience and concern. Alas, the Yeatman’s two starred Michelin restaurant was closed Sunday and Monday. If you’re an history buff you’ll love walking around this hotel. The reception is on the top floor, we got SUPER LUCKY AND GOT ROOM 714, happily named the Quinta Da Pacheca, where we had stayed the evening before in the Duoro Valley (also *****). Both pools beautiful. At €365 WORTH EVERY PENNY!
