It's hard to whine when it's just wine, but to dine is another line. The wine club has been retailing California wines for over 10 years at prices lower than anyone else on the market, being that they are the main distributor of such. Bottles start from around 700 pesos and the best part is the no-surcharge for in-store consumption, but service charge will be added on, which is fair enough since wine glasses are provided. Simply pick a bottle and have them serve the wine, that feature is a solid 4.0, but held back by their food, which is a sorry 2.0 on average. We were Driven to believe that a bottle of red wine would suffice both the 4 cheese pizza and the meat pizza, but the cheese pizza pairs better with white wine. The 4 Cheese Pizza (490 PHP) is a combination of blue cheese, parmesan, goat cheese, and mozzarella, which in totality is fairly a decent topping, though the dough was dry in performance. The Meat Pizza (500 PHP) just doesn't work in composition, it's a work in progress, which is a new a direction for this once purely retail shop.Overall, Come for wine and dine elsewhere and you'll be fine.

Makati near AIM. It is the same building with the Chinabank just at the entrance of the building. The place was small and can fit 30 pax with a full display of different California wines that ranges from P800 to a few thousands. According to the son of the owner, they are direct importers and distributors of their wines in Manila. So, it should be the cheapest wine store. With the option of purchasing a bottle, sitting down and drinking it right there. They also offer a shortlist of food items that can be perfectly paired with their wine.We had their 4-cheese pizza and the sausage. Both pizzas were mediocre. The 4-cheese was a better choice. The pizza was thin crust generously topped with cheese. The sausage pizza was topped with paper thin slices of sausages on top. The flavor was good, but it's expensive for the offering. It's a good idea to just purchase and drink wine here. The food is expensive and mediocre. I understand that the bigger business is the distribution, not necessarily the food, that's why it can be neglected, especially, being open for 10 years and counting.

It makes me sad that my palate isn't refined enough to discern the different notes and flavors in tasting wine. I could go try and learn, but I feel that it should come natural as to not sound pretentious. I guess at the end of the day, the most important thing in tasting wine is to say something else aside from "it's oaky". The Wine Club over in Greenbelt looks like an intimidating place from the outside. It really gives a vibe of exclusivity and elitism, even. Once you step inside, you'll immediately be overwhelmed with all the different wine regions, both old and new world. If you're not sure what to get, the wait staff would happily assist you and give you a very good recommendation on what bottle to get. After you get settled, you can take your pick from their choices of cheese and cold cuts. It all looks intimidating at first, but you'll quickly feel right at home.
