Fun spot to have a beer, play some ping pong, and try German food. Although there are many tables in the outdoor area, they fill up quickly. You have a purchase tickets for beer and food ($12 per ticket). Grab those first, or find out the hard way after waiting in line. Bathrooms are inside, down the stairs and to the left. Pay attention to the floor medallions to figure out which is men's versus woman's.

The entrance to the Biergarten is around the corner from the hotel front entrance. I came here for a work event. We likely had around 100 people. We reserved several tables. They set up buckets of beers for us on the tables as well as sausages, fried mac and cheese, and other bites. Oddly, they open all the beers in the buckets, including popping the cans. This seems a bit unsanitary because anything could fall into the open containers while they are sitting around. The beers can also go flat. It's also wasteful because anything that is not consumed during the event has to be thrown out. I'm not sure if they do this to deter folks from taking the cans to go, but it seems a bit unnecessary. A waitress was taking orders for cocktails and other drinks. I had a dry white wine. It was refreshing on a humid day and I enjoyed it. You could also order drinks from the bar. All the tables had backless bench seating. It's a good place for groups.
Be the first to ReplyTicket system - one ticket gets you a beer or food item.
It's a little disorganized, but once you're in, you kind of let it go and have a good time. There are two well sized TVs on each corner. Two table tennis tables and one foozeball table to keep you and your date or group of friends entertained. A good selection of beers at one bar and spirits at the other. As for the food, there's a selection of traditional German food-hall fare such as bratwurst, pretzels, potatoes, salat and more. The food is just okay, and does take a while to come out.
Be the first to ReplyInteresting place.
Ticket system is a bit odd. If they want to go cashless there are other ways to do that. Not loving an additional long line... Beer was ok. Nothing to get crazy for and nothing to spit out in disgust. Just regular old beer. Hefeweizen, pale ale and lager for us. Food was good as well. Mustard was oddly very good. We had the platter and the wurst and pretzel were the best part. Service was good all around. I would return for ambiance on a nice enough day.

Beautiful German beer garden with simple food and nice beers. It's an open space, so beautiful for summer and spring months.

Casual place to hang out with friends, get a beer and enjoy the food. They have foosball and pingpong table and it was very fun. Sausage and pretzel are delicious. You have to try the fried Mac and cheese

It was almost three years i have been to Biergarten and I felt a bit reminiscent about going back. While I already had lunch, I wanted to have a sip of beer and cheddar wurst on my way around the city. Then it got all soured as the sausage does not come out even after 40min with no estimation when it will be ready. The server said it's coming but apparently they did not have any system to track any orders. I ended up walking out without my food, with no refund policy. Never again for me. I just hope it was not racially driven.

Really fun beer garden! I came here for a birthday party on a Saturday night. Surprisingly, it wasn't crowded. It was lively but plenty of space. It is technically outdoors but there are heat lamps. To buy beer, you buy tickets and then use those tickets to get any kind of beer you want. There is also food and other types of drinks. There are 2 ping-pong tables, foosball and connect 4. Lots of things to entertain yourself with. I would come here again.

Really fun low key place in the heart of meatpacking! Area is outdoor/ indoor but there is heating. Food is excellent and so are drinks plus the price is decent . They also have ping pong and while it does get crowded, no reservations are needed ! it's basically first come first serve, and the service is great too ! highly recommend!

I wish so badly I took pictures when I was here (next time!!) because this place deserves photography! The service here is impeccable. Everyone is extremely friendly and caring. They are attentive at the bar and don't leave you hanging. I came to two events here now and each one was remarkable! The heated space is amazing. Can't wait to be here when the weather allows for the place to be fully open. I had their fries (tiny shoestring - my fav!!) And the German style potato salad - DELICIOUS!! The server knew exactly what a vegan can eat with many options being thrown out.

We walked in and the security guard grabbed me and tried giving me a stair down to intimidate me for literary no reason. We had a reservation. He tried kicking us out.. for nothing! I told him to get out of my face and get his managers. Manager came and he still stood there trying to be hard and to intimidate me and my wife by popping his eyeballs out of his head. Manager tried to descaled the situation but we were just uncomfortable for absolute no reason.. like we came to have some food and watch the game. We won't be coming back here ever. Bad vibes.

I wouldn't consider the Biergarten at The Standard to be a destination, it's more like a spot in a series of destinations or a place for everyone to meet up before heading out. It's a good place, the pours are heavy, the food is snack-y, and everything is German-themed. Is it a must-see when you're in NYC? No, but it's a solid spot to grab a beer if you need to waste time before you wander the High Line, browse the Whitney, or grab dinner at one of the many Chelsea restaurants. They've got a decent German beer selection, so don't be afraid to ask for recommendations. And, because of liquor licenses (maybe) you have to buy tickets to trade in for beers. A little annoying when they're crowded and you have limited people selling tickets

Fairly large beer garden located steps from the high line and the Hudson Greenway. I had a pour of Oban 14 which was reasonably priced at $20. Lots of beers and a decent selection of good but widely accessible whiskeys. Service was per quick. Handful of big TVs around the beer garden making it a great place to catch a big game. They have foosball and ping pong.

I previously wrote a review that has since disappeared and my experience was terrible enough to warrant a re-do. The service here is awful. The security/door person was rude at best and absolutely hateful at worst. There's no reason to put up with rude treatment for a mediocre beer and sausage. You're better off grabbing an actual meal and drink at the many other wonderful spots in the neighborhood with courteous staff. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone that has an option to go anywhere else. They cash in on location because it can't be the food or service. My guess is there isn't a ton of repeat business and it's likely tourists dropping in for the novelty of a Biergarten under the High Line. No thanks!

Be the first to ReplyThis is a solid spot for drinks and games.
I've been here a few times and it is your standard biergarten. You don't really go for the food or the drinks but the environment is fun and playful. I came with a group of 10 after a bottom less brunch and we really had fun playing ping pong, eating pretzels and just chilling and talking. I would definitely come back.

We stopped by the Beer Garden to pass time before dinner at The Grill, then again after dinner while waiting for our bumper car times. The vibe was upbeat with a nice mix of couples, pairs of friends and some families. On a Wednesday evening it was not crowded, and we were able to play ping pong. The dirty martini was fair, with mediocre olives, and the chocolate/ espresso martini was great. The pretzel was huge, served with mustard and another tasty dipping sauce. (They also have a small menu with various German sausages and a few sides.)Bartenders were friendly, and a table cleaner was efficiently clearing glasses and dishes when customers left the tables.

*3.5 stars* came with a big group Saturday night. Great vibes// atmosphere. We were hanging out by the bar but there were lots of tables available to sit without having to order food which was nice. Had huge TV screens and ping pong tables. Looks like a great place to hang out. Main complaint is probably the price of my drink. I have gotten a vodka soda and I believe it was almost $18. I'm very familiar with Manhattan prices, but have never paid that much for a vodka soda, even in more popular and touristy places so was a little taken back honestly. I'm not sure what were the prices of other drinks, however. The bartender was very nice and attentive despite the huge group of people he had to serve. Clean bathrooms downstairs. Again looks like it would be a great place to hangout after work if living in the area I imagine if it wasn't for the drink prices. Though maybe beer is reasonably priced? I just don't drink it lol
Be the first to ReplyBad service.
We had to wait for 20 minutes at the bar to be acknowledged by a rude bartender that there is a line to be served. Ended up leaving the place, not worth our time and money.

We stopped in to watch the women's euros finals the other month and loved the environment. Nice shaded area under the highline, big space, good breeze despite us sitting in the back corner for the TV and glad they had two bars. They had basically a beer of every lager style and long tables akin to a german beer hall. Beers were greatThere were two things though that were odd - there were menus on the various pillars supporting the high line but those menus were different from the menus sitting at the bars. Would've ordered something different based on the other menus. Also annoying that you buy beers by buying drink tokens at the entrance. Seems inefficient and just an extra step.
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot to grab a beer (or 3) with some friends.
Their beer cheese that comes with the pretzel is also sublime. Ambiance is fun as it feels like a little garden escape (it's under the highline) from the hustle and bustle of rest meat packing / Chelsea area. I've also been here for HH (great food and drink specials) and they recently started doing a stein holding competition on Wednesdays... Which is a lot of fun! I actually ended up winning the time I went (~3 min, 25 sec) and the staff was super friendly and fun! Although a little pricey, but that is expected being a part of The Standard. For beers they do a ticketing system (buy tickets upfront and then redeem for beers). Would def go back again - especially for HH (and to remain champ of the stein holding contest).

The vibe here is great to hang out with some friends and get a few drinks. I had a particularly fun interaction with one of the servers named Ollie! They were patient and explained what drink would work best for me. They also made me and my friends feel super welcomed! Definitely coming back again.

Came here once for drinks and food instead of going to a place for just drinks because we were starving. It was crowded, but we still found a table outside. Turns out they don't serve food outside, so before you come for some German eats and drinks make sure you're coming at a time that won't be too crowded to get a table inside. The drinks were good, but I wouldn't have ordered them if I knew I couldn't get food too.
