Very disappointing.
Food was all served at once rather than in courses. So scallops were cooked before I finished my starter. And tepid miso soup was served as an afterthought when I was eating starter and scallops. Scallops were over cooked. Sauces were mediocre. Service was not very attentive and I had to move plates around myself. For the price, the service and quality of the food should be much better.

Even though this place is hard to find and off the beaten path, it was the best place I ate when I was in Sydney. I don't know what else to say about it. Besides the fact that all the food was delicious and they took really good care of my friend, who was allergic to shellfish

If you were white people, probably you would like their service. If you were Asian, better not go there, or be prepared to receive uncomfortable reception since you are 'poor and not white'. It's hard to find a racist Asian restaurant in Sydney, but congratulation, this is the one.

This Teppanyaki restaurant cooks decent food but taste wise can be found at any other teppanyaki restaurants. The chef was accommodating and knows how to accommodate for dietary requirements. Not entertaining or provide an enjoyable experience either.Wait staff preferred cleaning up instead of serving, had to fill my own wine after 20 minutes of having any empty glass. If you are looking for an experience though, I wouldn't recommend going to this place. The restaurant manager Bruce, definitely needs to go back to restaurant school and expand his vocabulary so his future customers can enjoy a good experience when dining out. Lose the attitude BruceOverall food - 3 (not worth the price)Experience - 1 (no atmosphere at all)staff attentiveness - 1 Staff customer service - 1 (rude)
Be the first to ReplyWorst restaurant on our Sydney trip.
Rather curt staff; wouldn't let us order an ala carte for children... and then after buying the kids' meal set, they have a policy of not letting you take your leftovers despite spending over $150 on dinner for 4. Food was so-so. Nice chef and all the bells and whistles, but from customer service stand point simply the worst. Would not recommend.
Be the first to ReplyWe wanted to like this place so bad.
While visiting Sydney on vacation, we had dinner here. We had been craving Teppanyaki style food for a few days and decided to give this place a try. If you're American and expecting it to be anything like the Teppanyaki you experience in the states, don't waste your time. My chicken was raw in several places. Gag. I ordered a side of asparagus for $12 and got 4 pieces. Total waste of time and money. Safe yourself the potential for food poisoning and the flavor disappointment, go anywhere else.
Be the first to ReplyI think the only saving grace was that we did not pay full
I think the only saving grace was that we did not pay full price for the 10 course land and sea degustation.Too many negatives to point out so I may just list then instead of writing a full eassay:- no Japanese staff in sight- no teppanyaki showmanship, only lighting the hot plate on fire at the beginning. one time.- overcooked meat- "wagyu" was nowhere to be seen, more like chuck steak. It was supposed to be AA5 grade or whatever that meant to them- chef asked what the occasion was and there were 4 birthdays on the table. That was the end of that.- there were at times 4 "courses" in front of us at one time- "courses" did not come out in order per menu- at the end of the meal, the chef disappeared and we noticed he was already cooking in another room when we stood up to leave. Verdict: very very glad we did not pay $145pp!! I'm still annoyed we paid what we paid for the quality. Will not return or recommend.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the worst meal experiences of my life.
WHERE WHERE THE WAITERS??? this lovely experience started with us having to wait 45 mins for a table after we where seated we waited another 45 mins for someone to take our order???? Our Chef bob was so unfriendly he could have been part of Hitlers reich movement. The grill was filthy looked like the last time it was cleaned was many years ago. All our food served was terrible quality and mostly still cold I am praying that we do not get food poisoning. Every time we wanted to order a drink we had to get up and try search for a hostess as there were NO WAITERS. Pick up your game because this was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Go elsewhere you have been warned!!

it has been a long time we want to be here,i could enjoy the private dinning room, the chef cooked every dish for u but the dish was not suprised me. the first beef sashimi is good and others were all just ok. we have 11 course plus the sake. it really did not impress me.

I was given a Groupon voucher for this meal as a gift, the validity period was only 6 weeks which I exceeded by 1 week. I pre-cleared this with the restaurant but they made a mess of the booking and did not pre-clear with Groupon. I had to pay again on the night and was told I would be refunded after, once it was cleaed with Groupon. Since then they decided that wasn't going to happen and have kept my double payment. I've had numerous email exchanges with them and Groupon. The restaurant manager Trent Schmidt turned out to be horrible to work with and denied any wrongdoing, even though we've now paid his restaurant twice. This seemed like a lovely birthday gift, but I was very disappointed with how the restaurant treated me both on the night and in the email exchanges since. Overall - poor service, poor value for money, would not recommend to anyone
Be the first to ReplyI love teppankayi with a passion.
Mike and I went to The Rocks Teppanyaki for the first time and had the 11-course Lobster Tail and Wagyu Banquet using Groupon vouchers. It was $69 for the AA6+ wagyu, and $88 for the AA9+ wagyu. I bought one each, so Mike and I could try the different grades of wagyu and decide which one we like better. The food was superb, and we were thoroughly impressed by the lobster and wagyu. However, our overall experience of the atmosphere was a hit-and-miss.By the way, the AA9+ really was noticeably superior than the AA6+!
Be the first to ReplyI came here to celebrate a special family occasion.
The service was the biggest let down, as the wait staff were rude and didn't seem to want to help. From the time we arrived, a couple of the waitresses looked annoyed at the fact that we had a pram because they had seated us upstairs. When getting us to our table, one of the staff lifted the front of the pram to carry it up the stairs but jerked it so quickly & without warning that my family member almost tripped over. Instead of stopping to see if they were ok, she proceeded to rush up the stairs. It was a complete lack of care. Once seated, another staff member took the pram into the next room without asking - we asked them to bring it back and they only did so after we objected and said that the child wouldn't be left alone in a public place without supervision. Finally, we got to the last course of the meal. We were asked 2-3 times if we'd finished so the plates could be collected, even though I was still mid-mouthful. Food-wise my wagyu beef was really tough and chewy, and seasoned inadequately. Got the money paid ($70-100) I think I could've had a better steak elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyKobe Jones Teppanyaki in the Rocks is absolutely beautiful,
Kobe Jones Teppanyaki in the Rocks is absolutely beautiful, set in a heritage listed building built in 1880. This restaurant is a real treat with 5 private dinning rooms, each with its own chef and staff, plus a cocktail bar as you enter the stunning foyer perfect for pre or post drinks. The menu offers a great selection of Beef and seafood to choose from, they have set menu options or A La Carte if you would like to build your own. If you have a booking for 8 or more then I can recommend either the $100pp or $125pp set menu as its great value. My favourite would have to be the surf and turf ($98pp) set menu as it offers a great variety of taste or Lobster ($140pp) set menu - if you love seafood. All and all this restaurant is certainly worth its price.
Be the first to ReplyWent on Saturday night, did the voucher $69.
We left full, not sure the best value but the food was very good - loved the Balmain Bugs, the main was excellent - beef with spinach, asparagus, really good. Well priced wine list.
