Great snapper Thai red curry.
I have been a customer for many years. I mourn the loss of the previous venue which had great atmosphere, food and service which cannot be recreated in the present place. But, we had great service and great food. The roasted Maine lobster was sensational. I welcome the introduction of a plat du jour each weekday. We tried that. It was a snapper Thai red curry. The flavours explode in the mouth. Finally, the best cheesecake in Miami. So, why not the fifth star? Read the second sentence above.

Perfect from start to finish. Creative wide ranging menu. Large potions. Best grilled salmon in years. Toffee pudding with ice cream unique. Carlos is superlative and cooperation among friendly staff is unusual.

Good selection of various oysters from all around the world. Their seafood plates are also delicious and their drinks are great too.

Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, noisy place!
alWe were very pleased with the food…lobster, oysters, aged rib eye etc. but the the place was very noisy…the excessive noise is a big no no if you are trying to have a romantic and quite time.
Be the first to ReplyMore than just dinner, a lifetime experience, one for the book!
We went for dinner on April 21st, party of 5. I called earlier to check if i could bring a Magnum of Scarecrow 2019, knowing they did not carry that wine. They were gracious enough to let us bring the bottle. We opened the restaurant at 6pm, and closed it at around midnight... was it a good night out? no so, it was a GREAT night out! From Sebastian our top waiter to Kenny the Bar Manager, to the entire kitchen staff, it was one for the books! We have almost tried the entire menu that night. No matter the requests, the Oyster River Bar Team accommodated us, and i almost feel guilty as we asked for a lot. The food was amazing, we all ordered for our main sea scallops with a tenderloin on top of lentils, with a side of mushroom crusted black grouper, Sebastian recommended a champagne that we never had before from Vincent Joudart and an Armagnac Bhakta 50 years old which were both great! That evening was one for the books, great food, great service, great beverages, fantastic ambiance. I feel guilty for the staff as we stayed late and ordered food for 10 at least, but always take care of your staff by tipping great! 6 hour dinner, never before would i ever think i can sit down for 6 hour dinner! They deserved it, will be back again! Thank you ROB! (and Seabastian, forgive us for the long night!)

Disappointed that the oysters were so small. The waiter was very nice. We have better Oysters in Knoxville. Since I was in the vicinity of the ocean, I thought these would be better.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food overall, few great wines, a very comfortable environment. Very consistent, one of my go to restaurant.
Having been there for many years, the food has always been great, consistent, the menu is catering to most needs. Our party was 7 of us. The wine list covered a nice range of wines, both old and new world, price range to meet all needs - We treated ourselves with a round of awesome cocktails, a couple of bottles of Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle followed with 2 bottles of Scarecrow 2014, what a treat! The ambience is great, less noisy on a Wednesday - the last time we went on a Thursday which can be a bit noisy with Happy Hour, but always a good time. The food is tasty, fresh, with generous portions. I actually asked for my main course to have the sea scallops on a bed of lentils, and ask to add a fillet mignon on the top, which they accommodated without question. Great service, if you can get Sebastian who has taken care of us so many times, you will love him. Tonight Edwin took care of us and we enjoyed the service. Valentina, one of the host was also accommodating. The maitre D / Manager, (i missed his name sorry) handled the Scarecrow opening and decanting, clearly knew what he was doing / the wine he was handling and his audience.. he was great! Thank you to the River Oyster Bar Team, a loyal customer! Fabien
Be the first to ReplyOverrated food, very slow service
Went here for a casual meal, expecting laid back atmosphere. Instead, we got VERY slow service and below average food. After our waiter took drink orders offering very few menu details, he disappeared. And never came back. After we complained, a different waitress showed up and did a fair to indifferent job. The place was busy but not packed. No excuse. The shrimp flatbread app was okay, slightly soggy. Then a 45-minute wait for below average entrees. Mahi a la plancha. Not a lot of flavor. Also you can order whichever sauce you want, but the waiter never asked and just brought lemon butter. We sent it back for a different one. Butterflied yellowtail snapper simply grilled sounded awesome! It wasn’t. Just okay. In the end we tipped 10%, which we never do. We never go below 20%. But the service was so bad I bet they didn’t notice. With all the great seafood in Miami, don’t waste a meal here.
Be the first to ReplyNot good
Oysters were small and very bland. Service was casual bordering on rude. Left after just a few oysters. Avoid if you know you’re oysters and expect a certain standard
Be the first to ReplyGreat seafood Brickell
not what i would really call an oyster bar, closer to a nicer almost fine dining seafood restaurant. excellent menu, excellent food, and excellent service. not inexpensive, but in line with brickell prices. will go back for sure.

Fabulous food and service. Great advice and recommendations from Kevin our server. Great location for couples or groups.
Be the first to ReplyAlways Good!
Always good! The oysters, the grits and the fried snapper are always good. The last two times I've been, I've had the blackened grouper and it has been way salty. The clams are meh, not awesome, not terrible.
Be the first to ReplyTry the branzino
Dinner for 4 with great seafood plate for starts with oysters, clams, shrimps, lobster and mussels, excellent and fresh, fabulous bread and the. Our entrees which were great, branzino baked in salt, black grouper and blue crab, all excellent, while we didn’t have desert some spectacular looking ones went past our table, really enjoyed our dinner and our waiter was great and very informative. Chef owned restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Service, Delicious Food
We were in town for the Orange Bowl and my husband had a craving for oysters. We chose this restaurant because it was local and chef-owned. Surprised there was availability so last minute and on NYE. Sat outside which was great for us - weather was nice, we like people watching and the traffic was not bothersome. Food was exceptional. Our party ordered oysters on the half shell, crab cakes, mushroom crusted grouper, sea scallops and the gnocchi. Oh, and the smore's tart for dessert. Everything was delicious and portions were more than enough. Service was excellent - just the right amount of attention. And the busser was especially memorable as he gave helpful recommendations as well as a poignant reminder of how lucky we (our family of 4) are to be enjoying each other's company. Will be returning the next time we are in town!
Be the first to ReplyMust-Try Fried Snapper Collar - incredible
Stopped in around 5 pm and sat in the bar area to enjoy the Bar Snacks and Happy Hour. Atmosphere was relaxing, with an upbeat feel. They had a nice selection of drinks at half price for Happy Hour. We ordered several dozen oysters on the half shell. They were excellent. We then had some Carnitas Tacos which were very good. The highlight of the evening was the fried snapper collar. If you’ve never tried it, make sure you do. It was prepared perfectly with great visual style and crispy exterior and moist meat inside. It was served with a light chili sauce that absolutely took the dish to another level. The price on the Bar Snacks menu was only $12 which for the size and quality of the dish would have been worth $30 plus. Overall a great experience - service matched the food - Excellent.
Be the first to ReplyRiver Oyster Bar & Restaurant - TOP NOTCH choice for Brickell-area dinning!!
River Oyster Bar & Restaurant is a Brickell-area fixture for many years. We had a recent dinner at their new location (for 2 years or so). The ambiance, menu selections, and food & drink had maintained excellent quality. We enjoyed: great drinks (superior quality Margarita, and Rye Manhattan), delicious fried calamari salad (lots of greens and aioli dressing), perfect seared scallops, Thai BBQ ribs, crab fried rice, and yummy blueberry-apple crisp dessert. The Brickell-area has many dozens of restaurants and eateries, none better than River Oyster! (If you’ve never been: 1: Go! 2. Must try their Gnocchi w/ crabmeat!!)

Came in for dinner however they were only serving bar apps and a limited selection of oysters early afternoon. Selections were fantastic and left full and content.

Be the first to ReplyRiver Oyster Bar - MUST TRY CRABMEAT GNOCCHI !!!
We've been many times (or will certainly return many more!). Service and very pleasant upscale casual ambiance is delightful. Let's cut-to-the-chase: GNOCCHI with LUMP CRAB is a MUST TRY CLASSIC dish at River Oyster -- I'd rate this as a TOP TEN DELICIOUS entree (compared to any entree/any restaurant here in South Florida. On this particular visit, we sat outside (very pleasant shaded patio above the street level) and enjoyed: A Margarita and a Rye Manhattan - excellent cocktails here! Gnocchi w/ Lump Crab - a hearty (and delicious!) appetizer for 2 Scallops w/ lentils - large, delicious entree with 5 large seared scallops Heirloom tomato salad - excellent "side dish" w/ entrees Warm Blueberry tart w/ lemon curd - yum! (Fruit tarts are very good here!) There's a reason why The River Oyster Bar in the Brickell area is going strong after many years - excellent service, ambiance, hospitality, and food!! If you've never been, you certainly have something to look forward to here!

Be the first to ReplyGreat Food & Service
Stopped by for lunch after having toured Vizcaya. Four of us were in the mood for seafood and picked a place close to Vizcaya, great pick! Ann-Patrice was our server, and she was exceptional. I have to eat gluten free and it is always a concern for me. Ann-Patrice was very knowledgeable as to what I could safely enjoy. We all had different dishes from oyster, mussels, yellow snapper, to Mahi Mahi. Delicious! The brussel sprouts were soooo good and gluten free. Wine availability was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyLOTS OF NOISE WITH SO SO FOOD
When we entered the restaurant we could barely hear the Hostess as the music was so loud. Maybe it's a Miami thing, but not very relaxing. We sat outside thinking it would be better, but there was a loud speaker right by our table. Oysters and octopus were good, Clams with pasta was so so and the local snapper had no flavor. Our waiter was good, but the food took a long time to arrive. People must come "to be seen" as it was not the best food we have had. Too trendy for us. Also a little pricey.

Our party of 6 enjoyed a great dinner last night. out outside table was spacious , the service was attentive but not rushed and the food was excellent
Be the first to ReplyEnjoyable Dinner
We enjoyed our night here. The service was good and they had a nice selection of many different kinds of seafood in tapas style sizes, which was nice so we could sample many items. The ceviche, oysters and octopus were all very good. We ate outside on the patio which was nice but it’s near the road so for a more Intimate experience I would eat inside next time.
