Beware... Worrying Hygiene & Cleaning Standard
We stayed for a weekend in late March and went away very disappointed with our experience. The location is great but I'm afraid nothing else met the standard Ritz Carlton strived to set. The most striking point is how hygiene & quality standards were overlooked, and how our feedback was ignored by management. To list a few: 1) The room smelled stale when we first opened the door. 2) The bed was in bad shape. Both sides of the mattress crumble, and represented a mattress which was overused over many years, structurally collapsed and neglected from maintenance. 3)The shower room walls were not cleaned properly prior to our check in - there were multiple strands of hair stuck to the wall. 4) The pump in the hair conditioner provided is stuck and couldn't be pressed. We had to unscrew it to get to the hair conditioner and found strands of hair tangled onto the pump inside the bottle which was gross and disgusting. 5) The bathtub sinkhole plug leaks and the tub would slowly drain as a result, defeating its purpose. 6) The bed sheet was not pristine. We could tell it was laundered but there are multiple small dark spots on the bedsheet. Two of the pillowcase had print stains which resembled ink transfers from a piece of paper. 7) Our bed linen was not changed during room service on the next day despite the point above. Perhaps they have a linen policy or card but this wasn't clear to us. NOTE we asked to speak to management, and Alberto (Assistant Rooms Executive) reached out to us via email. We passed the above feedback to him/her but have not heard back at all after almost a month. Definitely not going again and would reconsider our future hotel choices of Ritz Carlton.

Lovely staff. Late check out offer a nice plus. Free access to equinox a big plus. At $800+ a night there should be a coffee machine or mini bar in the room. I understand the need to make money down in the restaurant but a free cup of joe or tea in my room wouldn’t hurt.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Trip for 50th Birthday!
We loved our time here. Came in for a Celtics Game, St Patricks Day weekend and my husbands 50th. Can not say enough about the people that work here. Everyone from the door guys like Danny or concierge department Ryan, Julia and Patrick who helped book a car service from airport, decorated the room for my husbands birthday invited us to a whiskey tasting and just doing nice things to make our stay enjoyable. The are awesome! We stayed on 12th floor where we had the lounge option and I must say this is the best lounge I've ever had access to. There were drinks and snacks all day long it was so great to have this amenity. If you can splurge do this! This hotel is also clean, beautiful and location is perfect for everything. Beds were so comfortable as well! We will definitely come back!
Be the first to ReplyGreat weekend
Had a weekend getaway to the Ritz and it was great. The room was comfortable and spacious. The service was great. The whole thing was just the best. I will say that they undersold the room. They said it was a city view but we have a nice view of the park. Would highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyDo better, you are The Ritz for goodness sake!
I was in town for business. Also, please know that my family and I have been loyal to the Ritz brand for years. I have never left a bad review, but this certain Ritz fell short to everything this Iconic and legendary brand is known for. As I arrive to The Ritz in Boston from my trip in Spain, I am first received my no one checking me in and a lady on the computer. I did a cough and she glanced up and went back to her computer. Only when I firmly said “Are you servicing anyone” she looked at me and said of course have a seat in a disturbed tone. I mean, I’m just trying to check in Once I arrive to my room, it smells of that of mildew or left over towels. I quickly just remove my overcoat and lie down. I’m jet lagged and haven’t slept in 22+ hours. As I get energy to shower before I fully immerse into a deep sleep I get into the bathroom and behold, 4-5 wet/damp towels on behind the door. I just shake my head and grab the ONE towel left. I have zero energy (literally) to complain or call. I need sleep and have a business dinner at 8:00PM and needed to sleep a couple of hours. But this was absolutely disgusting to say the least. On the way to dinner I ask the front desk for a turnover, hoping I get a clearer and stocked room…nope, I get back later that night with absolutely nothing cleaned or stocked much to my avail. I wake up the next morning and ask a friend to come by the room so we can go over a pitch. I order us room service…it took them 1hr and 14 minutes. The room arrived cold and with several times missing. By this time I have had enough and start looking into staying at another place while having to prep for a meeting that evening. And here’s what truly caused for me to write this review; As we checkout, my friend needed to go pick her son up at 5:00PM, we get to the valet THIRTY minutes before hand..it took them 1hr and 20 minutes to bring her car out. She had to find someone to pick her son up, didn’t get to the birthday party they had planned on going to, where she was in charge of bringing certain items, and something she and her 5 year old son were looking forward to for weeks. She even started crying, some workers and even a manager came out to console her and said they would be in touch to see what they could do. Needless to say, much like the turndown service, breakfast, and reception, that was ignored as well. This location is in dire need of change and just needs to do better. Great bar/Lobby- It was. Christmas time and the decorations were beautiful and festive. I did decide to stay at the W the next night (blew the ritz out of the water with service and cleanliness) and the next trip I had in Boston (two weeks later- December 20-23) I opted to stay at The Raffles, and my oh my…do they make The Iconic Ritz seem like a Courtyard. Again, huge Ritz loyalist from a child and I hate having to write a negative review. Thank you. My stay was Dec 1-Dec 2 (it was suppose to be Dec 1 - Dec 3)
Be the first to ReplyPerfect
I believe this to be my fourth time here and for me this is just ideal. Currently in the middle of a perfect 2 night stay. It’s on a “quiet” small side street in Downtown Boston by the Boston Common- which is a quiet area at night. It’s in a very well-built tower and the rooms are all on high floors. Easy walk to Copley Sq. and Newbury Street. The rooms are very comfortable and well-appointed. I can’t tell you the last time I’ve stayed at a Ritz Carlton and actually had the real Frette slippers in the closet but here yes! Also, I stay at Ritz Carltons ALL THE TIME- and never get upgraded (aside from Barcelona) which is fine because when I need a better room, I just pay for it but I actually got an upgrade here for this stay, which was appreciated. There is an “Equinox Sports Club” gym in the Tower on one of the lower floors which is just so convenient especially on a day like today that’s 20° outside! And it’s a “sports club” version of the Equinox which entails that it’s huge and all encompassing. For this stay, -special mentioned to Kenny at the front door and Alex at the front desk.

Family trip with four people, and we stayed in two Club Level suites (Executive King Club, and Luxury Suite Club Access) from 12/23/23 through 12/25/23. Service in the Club Room completely misses the mark for the price/value proposition; food is not good, hot food is left uncovered for hours and is consequently dried out. Employees in the Club Room are hit-or-miss in their professionalism and their motivation to provide a "special" experience, which is how the Club Floor, and the Ritz Carlton, are branded. The same goes for the bellhops, some are outstanding, but this was overshadowed by a bellhop who stood around with his hands in his pockets when it was time to load suitcases in the car and assist my elderly handicap aunt, and then he decided to get into a verbal altercation with me to intimidate me into tipping him. Needless to say, it didn't work, and he received some real time customer feedback. Overall, not worth the price. We stayed for three nights on the Club Floor last year and were underwhelmed then, so we shortened our stay to two nights this year, and gave it another chance. We will shorten our stay to zero nights next year!

We had an all around great experience at the Ritz Boston. We got a good deal for the club lounge upgrade, which had exceptional food, drink and service. They even serve lunch there. My kids loved the snack bags. Great location. Very calm environment.

Betsy with Guest Relations was awesome to work with. She helped me with a surprise and went over the top. She responded quickly to emails and phone calls. She helped make the trip special right from the start. THANK YOU!!
Be the first to ReplyHome away from Home
This Ritz has a homey feel like a comfortable old home, not opulent nor dazzling. The feel is relaxing, quiet and comfie, and makes you feel at home while away. The service is excellent, staff are well trained and rooms are quite spacious. I asked for a coffee machine and it was quickly provided, receiving an abundant number of pods refreshed daily. Very convenient location quite close to the airport, walking distance to the park, Shopping on Newbury etc. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing. Not up to the usual Ritz Carlton brand standards.
Unfortunately, this hotel didn’t meet the usual Ritz Carlton standard, both in service and quality of the hotel rooms. Having stayed in a number of Ritz Carlton hotels in recent years, we selected this hotel for the brand and expected certain standards as a result. We were disappointed. Overall, the rooms are quite basic. Spacious yes, but the minimum is provided. Nothing more. For example, no coffee machine / tea making facilities are provided as standard in room. You have to request them. Quite unusual for any hotel room in the States, let alone this brand. A tray appears, but housekeeping forget to replenish coffee pods / tea bags / milks etc. Just not good attention to detail. I took to leaving notes out for housekeeping - good morning, please could you leave me xxx, thanks - but sometimes this would be actioned, sometimes ignored. There was also no mini bar. The attention to detail continued elsewhere. Despite 2 of us on the reservation there was only 1 robe and slippers provided. On arrival at 9.30pm I highlighted this via the hotel chat on the app and requested a second. Nothing materialised and I had to chase this a second time in the morning. The rooms themselves are quite tired and old fashioned. As I said previously, basic. Not well appointed with ‘mod cons’. Communication. We booked a whale watching trip via concierge. The money was deducted from my card but no communication or instructions were provided. Even the night before the trip. Not a major issue for us to go downstairs, queue (!) and find out what the plan was and collect tickets. However, in other Ritz Carlton’s or St Regis, concierge have always been proactive in communicating arrangements for trips or dinner reservations. Either electronically via emails or in room devices or via envelopes under the door. The lack of pro activity was disappointing. Finally, unfortunately we also experienced a maintenance issue with the air conditioning unit. Principally, the air conditioning unit started squeaking and smelling strongly of melting plastic at 4am of our first night. We turned it off and reported it the next morning. Maintenance managed to temporarily fix it, but it broke again the next evening at bedtime and ultimately this resulted in us changing rooms 3 times, ultimately being upgraded. Even the upgraded rooms are basic and lacking coffee machines, mini bars and attention to detail from housekeeping. We relieved the robes and coffee machine scenario 3 times in total!! I should also mention the hotel bar wasn’t open for 2 days either! This is not a cheap hotel, and ultimately if you’re paying a significant rate / the hotel is priced at a certain level, it needs to achieve certain standards. I should say that this was passed to the hotel managers during our stay and they really tried their best to help and remediate the issues faced. However some fundamental training should be provided to staff and improvements to standards applied. You should all go on a field trip to the Ritz-Carlton in Montreal as a learning. I hope this serves to provide insight into the hotel for you as a customer when selecting a hotel, and to the hotel management for improvement.
Be the first to ReplyGlorious stay with incredible Ambassador upgrade to Park View Suite over St Patrick’s Day weekend
We had a pretty glorious stay with an incredible upgrade to a Park View Suite at the Ritz-Carlton Boston this past weekend — and what a glorious view it was. Best view I’ve ever had in Boston. We were in town for my brother’s surprise birthday party outside Boston and to visit my mother in her new senior living facility nearby. We also had the chance to visit with some good local friends. #ritzcarlton #boston #ambassadorstatusmatters #prearrivalupgrades #suiteupgrades #specialtysuites #parkviewsuite #latecheckout We originally were booked on $548 AAA rate in an entry level king room. We were pre-upgraded almost a week before arrival due to my Ambassador status to a $2500/night Luxury Suite. A very generous upgrade, indeed. The morning of our arrival, we were pre-upgraded yet again to a $3500/night Park View Suite. That’s the 2nd best suite in the hotel and the first time I’ve ever enjoyed such a lofty upgrade here. That being said, in all the many years I’ve stayed at this property as an Ambassador guest, I’ve never not been upgraded to a suite. Let’s not forget that this also was St. Patrick’s Day weekend — in Boston. It was crazy crowded everywhere we went. For those counting at home, that’s an almost $6000 discount. I think it’s fair to say that Ambassador status is absolutely worth every penny for me. The suite was incredibly comfortable. As requested in my #prearrivalchecklist, the suite was preset to 65 F, there were plenty of extra bottles of room temperature water, there was a fan by the bed (which we never needed), and we had an impressive welcome amenity waiting for us of Veuve Clicquot champagne with fruit and cheese trays. Very, very generous. The window shades weren’t completely blackout as requested, but the incredible views made that a non-issue for us. Some of the windows even opened a bit, so it would be easy to cool down the suite further if one didn’t mind street noise. The only real weakness for the suite and the hotel overall remains its weak WiFi at just 14 Mbps down and up. It gets the job done, but it absolutely should be at least 3-4x that speed for a luxury hotel of this caliber. We enjoyed morning coffee provided in the lobby every morning, and we enjoyed breakfast in the Artisan Bistro restaurant connected to the lobby both mornings, as well. Breakfast service, while a bit slow, was very friendly — and all the breakfast choices were delicious. The lobby’s Avery bar has been totally redone and is far more inviting and spacious. I love a good hotel bar, and this remains one of my favorites in the city. Our first Sidecar and Old Fashioned weren’t so great, but the next double Sazerac and Gin Martini were fantastic. Service was always excellent. The concierge team had helped arrange a private car service for us to get around on Saturday, as well as Sunday brunch at nearby Stillwater with my friends and 4 kids. The concierge also helped my husband navigate the Freedom Trail and generally seemed interested in making sure that everything with our stay was going well. We also had dinner on our arrival night at nearby and often celebrated No. 9 Park. Disappointing at best. I wouldn’t recommend it. Housekeeping was on top of it. Didn’t miss a thing, even for such a big suite. We tipped them well. We were confirmed for 4 pm late checkout before we even had arrived at the hotel, and we enjoyed that extra time in the suite before our 6 pm return flight to Los Angeles. Another fantastic stay at the Ritz-Carlton Boston. While there are several other well lauded hotels in town (notably the Mandarin Oriental, the old but tired Four Seasons nearby, the newer Four Seasons One Dalton, XV Beacon, the Langham, and the Newbury) this is the only one that guarantees me 65 F or better and always delivers. My Ambassador status on top of that always makes this choice a no-brainer.
Be the first to ReplyWhat you would expect
We had a nice stay here, location is great for walking to the park and food options near by. The property is as you would expect for a Ritz, easy check in/clean/comfortable/enjoyable atmosphere. Would definitely stay here if again if in the area.
Be the first to ReplyNot a True Ritz Experience
We are at the Ritz in Boston right now, and if it weren't too late to get our money back, I would be checking out and staying elsewhere. The entire hotel is not up to Ritz standards and between terrible wifi and a shower that is claustrophobic and dirty, I am incredibly disappointed. Worst of all, the only fitness option is the Equinox attached to the building, however they charge you $15/room per day to use the gym. Unbelievable!
Be the first to ReplyGreat staff, otherwise pretty mediocre.
I will start by saying that every staff member I’ve encountered at this hotel is professional, welcoming, friendly and helpful, and that goes a long way! However, this hotel doesn’t offer much for the price. The sound insulation is nonexistent. The noise from the hallway never ends, and you can clearly hear your neighbors. Having children screaming and banging on the walls after 10PM isn’t conducive to rest. The valet was a nice guy, but I pulled up and he just sort of stood there watching me try to drag my suitcase out of the car instead of offering to help. The lobby bar was closed, so I ordered room service. The menu was fairly limited, and despite the very friendly staff that took/delivered my order, the food itself was extremely disappointing. I ordered the beef tournedos, it was tasteless, other than the sides, which tasted like rotten fish. I also ordered the charcuterie, which strangely didn’t include any cheese, but had basically a whole loaf of toast in place of crackers. The door to the toilet in the bathroom also has a bunch of weird, gross stains on it. I’m pretty loyal to Marriott properties, and I’m in Boston regularly, but from now on I think I’ll spend a little extra and get a lot more at the Four Seasons.
Be the first to ReplyMost underrated hotel in Boston, best hotel in Ritz brand…Top Club Lounge
We have stayed in at least a dozen Ritz Carlton Brand hotels and purchase club level whenever available. Ritz Carlton Boston is our favorite location we have been to. The club lounge isn’t the biggest one in the brand, but the offerings and service far exceed any other location. This was our second time staying here and the weekend we stayed was the first time the club lounge was re-opened since Covid. The concierge staff was a little green, but still did a phenomenal job. Overall, staff at this location were outstanding. Service was top notch. Location itself is past Boston Common so it’s a bit of a walk to get to the action, but worth it. Rooms have been renovated and are quite comfortable.

A very nice hotel for business, family, or couples. Great service. Nice lobby. Very helpful. Our room was modern, clean, and had a beautiful view of the Boston Commons. the hotel is very central located in the college neighborhood and near the live theater. Easy walking around the city. Highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyAMAZING STAY & FABULOUS STAFF! August 2022
On a summer vacation with my two teenage sons, I stayed at the Ritz Carlton Boston for 4 nights last week. We live in Washington, DC and have traveled all over the world. The hotel property itself is spotless, modern, and also warm/inviting. Also, location-location-location...this hotel is in the heart of Boston and literally right across the street from Boston Common. The door/bell staff was extremely helpful at all times - with baggage, directions, offers on chilled bottled water on hot days, and more. The front-desk was extremely helpful with a special thank you to Julia. The concierge, Ryan, helped us schedule a phenomenal dinner at Mamma Mia, an amazing Italian restaurant in the Northend (I lived in Italy at one point, so I am picky). And, I highly recommend getting the Club Lounge Access while you are at this hotel. The Club Lounge food, beverages, and services were fabulous (broad array of offerings throughout the day) and it felt like a sanctuary after long days of sightseeing activities like walking the Freedom trail. In the Club Lounge, the shining star of all Boston RC staff was Anthony! Anthony tended to our every need, answered questions, made recommendations, talked with my sons and made us feel right at home! Anthony is impeccable. The Lounge breakfast service and staff were also attentive! The hotel restaurant, the Artisan, had great food and the bartender at the Avery bar was a true mixologist. Importantly, they also surprised us with a welcome plate of gourmet cookies + snacks and a farewell bag of snacks and bottled waters for our trip to the airport. Lastly, I tried to use a new luggage service called Lugless upon departure (where they ship your luggage) and it just did not work - they never picked up. Ryan and the concierge desk worked tirelessly to fix the situation for me and get FedEx to pick up my luggage. THANK YOU! I highly recommend staying at the Boston Ritz Carlton and I hope to return soon!

Beautiful hotel ! Attentive staff and great location. The turn down service was done without request and was phenomenal! The hotel is in a great area close to freedom trail and close to hop on hop off trolley. I was graciously updated to a nicer room as well!
Be the first to ReplyVery Good; Would Return.
Most of note: I would return which is not always the case with a lot of nice hotels that I stay at. This is a very low-key, quiet, comfortable hotel. The pluses are how quiet and how well soundproofed it is. And the bed was excellent, very comfortable with a wonderful feather pillow top. Nice Frette sheets and very squishy comfortable pillows. Some very good friendly staff members also. Not without exception, but enough so that it was fine. And you are allowed access to the Equinox gym which is inside the building which is a HUGE plus. Minuses were a smell in the room. I don’t know if all the rooms smell this way but it wasn’t enough to make me go through the trouble of changing rooms (1025). The hallway also had a bit of a similar scent to it but not as strong. Also, you had to keep your finger on the toilet handle to make it flush which was odd? My next visit would likely be here again or perhaps the Mandarin Oriental down the street by the Prudential Center. But likely the Ritz.
