The ambiance is nice.
I had lunch there with some colleagues. That's when I would recommend going. They get pretty busy for dinner. The friendliness of the service staff is mixed. I've had a very nice attentive server and also some others who will slam a drink on the table and walk away with no eye contact or words. The food I had was delicious. I recommend the beet salad and the prime rib Nik Niks ! Price is a little high. But it's Santa Monica

This little spot allowed us the recluse to regroup after failed dinner plans. We sat at the bar, and the bar tenders were so accommodating and prompt. We had two espresso martinis (wish they had Kahlua) and bacon wrapped dates (yummy but a little dry). Nice, cozy spot. And

Place had nice decor and good music. We will be back.

Bacon wrapped figs and burger were two best dishes out of everything we ordered. The rest was OK.
Be the first to ReplyCame for lunch on a Saturday! FLAVOR (3.
7/5): 1. JAPANESE DREAM: I really liked this drink! Smooth and the basil comes through without being too overpowering. 2. CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS: I've had crispy brussels sprouts at about every establishment in LA and unfortunately these fall short. They're good, but the flavor isn't soaked all the way through like with Bacari's brussels sprouts. 3. MARKET TOMATOES: This was a nice, light appetizer! The tomatoes were fresh and everything was nicely seasoned. SERVICE (5/5): Service was amazing! AMBIENCE (5/5): The Misfit is a cute bar and was relatively busy for a rainy afternoon. Definitely a great date spot! PARKING (5/5): To the reviewer who said to park at 1444 4th St, Santa Monica, CA 90401 for 90 minutes free parking... you are amazing. TAKEAWAYS: Would definitely come back again and try more of their drinks - I'm curious what the vibe is at night... I imagine it's pretty popular.
Be the first to Reply1st visit for lunch the place is fabulous.
The history, the lunch options, the drink menu all GREAT! The employees are super friendly too. If you're looking for a classy but casual, great food, eclectic/1940s vibe...you'll love this place! Pro tips: the Mac n cheese. It will not disappoint! Park at structure on 2nd street. Just a 2 minute walk. ENJOY!

Really like this place, the look is great and a great casual place to go eat good food. I've had a really good experience the 1st and so went a 2nd time. On the 2nd occasion I had my kids with me and we ordered steaks, which were pretty trash.....and very disappointing. Asked for medium well and they came medium rare. The cuts of meat were terrible, especially for what was stated to be dry aged steaks.... Service was good on both occasions, we had what seemed to be a junior server the 2nd time, and although not as knowledgeable about the bar and menu, she was very nice a friendly. Since is had a good and bad experience going to give it another go one more time, before calling it quits on this place.
Be the first to ReplyMy all-time favorite lunch spot is The Misfit.
Diamond and his team make the best cocktails and make you feel at home. Donald is a great manager, as is his team. The vibe is calming. Food is delicious!

. we came across them hidden gem that has Happy Hour from 12-7. We stopped in to refuel and refresh.. had their Smash Burger and homemade fries.. both were delicious. I then had to try the refreshing If it ain't broke.. it was a refreshing mezcal with pineapple and a bit of spice. So good I had 2. It is just a short walk from the 3rd Street Promenade.
Be the first to ReplyThe misfit used to be my favorite restaurant when I lived
The misfit used to be my favorite restaurant when I lived in LA in 2015. After much anticipation, it's still a great choice for a unique, quality meal. Drinks: a separated bar section with a beautiful library backdrop where you can grab a drink while you wait for a table. They had removed my favorite drink from the menu sometime over the last 8 years but the new menu still had appealing options. Talented, friendly bartenders though we opted for wine. Food: got the yellowtail carpaccio (delightful), vegetarian tacos (solid), bacon wrapped dates (oh my god), and Brussels sprouts (yum but straightforward). Ended with their famous salted chocolate chip cookies that they keep in the glass display by the front door - make sure to grab a couple on your way out. Ambiance: feels like an east side or nyc restaurant - you don't expect it to be in SM. High ceilings, wooden accents, shelves of antique books behind the bar... it's just so cool. There is a fun second floor table that can be rented if you want a bit more privacy and/or want to people watch but it's next to the kitchen so you'll have servers coming by. Our server was helpful and patient with us, even with our smaller order. Overall: Great option for tourists or locals looking for a delicious, reasonably priced, nice meal. Will be returning asap. I was really happy to see that the misfit is still quality.
Be the first to ReplyMisfits is the perfect name for this restaurant.
This was by far our biggest disappointment in our LA dining experience this week. What a dumpster fire this place is. Where do I start? I know, with the underwhelming food. The menu on its surface excited us. We ordered a lot of food in order to taste a wide range of items. I'll just list what we ordered instead of commenting on each one because honestly each item was worse than the next. We ordered the ahi tuna hamachi, corn chowder, lobster slider, beef slider, bacon wrapped dates, fries, Mac & cheese, broccoli, crunchy tacos, and the "gelato". First, this was not gelato (despite the fact the server told us it was homemade). Total BS. It was ice cream and was not good. The food was lacking flavor, no care for presentation, and just so mediocre. This place has so much potential with the decor, ambiance and location, but unfortunately the menu is very subpar and you can tell the chefs, er cooks don't give a D about the quality coming out of the kitchen. Skip this place unless you want just drinks at the bar, so many better spots In Santa Monica to hit up.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing drinks and stellar atmosphere.
I highly recommend!! Location was perfect for our last work trip.
Be the first to ReplyThe name fits this restaurant.
Good and attentive waitress, the restaurant is super cute, so much potential sadly the food sucks. We ordered : wanted to taste a little of everything. We ordered the following: The corn chowder The lobster rolls The corn tacos Charred broccoli Ahi tuna Prime rib sliders Mac and cheese Fries And bacon wrapped dates. Very disappointed- lacked flavor in every category. Total waste of money! Only good for cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyI went last night for dinner.
They have a great location and the vibe is nice inside. I had the clams and mussels, they were a little bland, but still decent. Drink was good. My server (Sage) was very nice and fun! Why am I giving this place a one star? Because of the SCAM FEE I found on the receipt. At the bottom of the receipt I was hit with a 4% "Kitchen Fee." Some scam artist owners will do this as they are too scared to raise their food prices as they fear losing customers, so they will ILLEGALLY add a bs fee on the receipt to make up for that $. Most people don't fully read their receipts, and therefore will not see that they were hit with an illegal charge. Needless to say, I was LIVID. I had the "kitchen fee" taken off immediately. I work in the industry, so I know what the "domino" effect to this illegal fee does to the staff. People will yell and scream at the servers and the managers. People will also not tip the servers out of spite for the illegal fee. People will also be confused and think that this added fee is an included tip and will not tip the servers. So, because the owner chooses to be a coward and chooses to scam loyal customers, the negative reactions are at the staffs expense. I will never again support this establishment while it is being run by an unethical, coward, scam artist owner who clearly doesn't respect their customers.
Be the first to ReplyHad made reservations for a Tuesday evening, and this place
Had made reservations for a Tuesday evening, and this place was busy! There was no host(es) when we entered and we waited for a good 7 minutes just for someone to come greet us and then eventually take us to our table. We were bringing in a close friends birthday, so we stuck to drinks and ordered our food togo. Our cocktails included Fin n' Juice, Chrisopher Oaxacan, and One Night in Babylon - all of them were really good! Food included Baby Cauliflower ($15), and the stem was a little hard to chew, but a tasty dish and Falafel Lettuce Wraps ($18) which were probably best to be consumed in the restaurant itself - because they got very dry by the time I ate the wrap. Microwave heating did not help either, and the harissa tahini was lesser than I would've liked it to be. Noise levels were on the medium end, service though, once we were seated, was excellent. Food arrived within 15-mins of placing our order.

The quality of the food, the ambiance and staff belies their name. A wonderful place that I won't hesitate to go back to. I wholeheartedly recommend the misfit.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, great bar! Tons of great options.
Friend has a gluten allergy and they're always accommodating!
Be the first to ReplyI applied there during renovations to no avail.
..BUT aesthetically the atmosphere drew me in initially. The dear miss at the host stand was nice but a little stand offish (which I liked based on the name of the place) I have never eaten here but friends have and LOVED it! I'm just here to say that the outcasts win without trying

The Misfit has become such a reliable happy hour spot for my group of friends! From the incredible happy hour deals (until 7 pm too which is great) to the good food options, it's everything you want in an after-work spot. The presentation of the food is always great, and the scenery inside is a getaway from bustling Santa Monica.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely a fun place to be during any timeOf the week .
Good service , good food , and great environment . Walking distance to the beach and SM pier .

The food is over priced and bland. The drinks are either way too sweet or way too boozy and the service there was abysmal. The host was the only one who actually was nice. The manager came over to check on us and even he wasnt nice when i said the food wasnt that good he said that there was nothing wrong with it.

Stopped in for a few cocktails during a shopping trip to Santa Monica. My husband and I had every intention of sharing a bottle of wine, but when we saw that they had a generous Happy Hour every day until 7 we knew we had to forgo the wine and make the most of it. We had to sit inside because the small outdoor patio was already full. It was rather dark inside, and I was surprised there were so many people already here at around 4:30 on a Saturday. The crowd was interesting -- definitely a VERY Santa Monica mix. I say that with love, but I myself am an east side kind of girl. We ordered some silly drinks - mine, the Fin and Juice. It was very good, perfect amount of cucumber and mint. I could have had a few more of these. My husband tried the Chameleon, which I thought had a little too much chamomile, but he seemed to enjoy a lot. We both also tried the white sangria -- delicious but a little heavy on the juice. Our waiter was truthfully a little rude the whole time, not just to us but the table next to us as well. Did not bother me though as I, too, have little patience for people sometimes.
