Disappointing to pay for brand and not quality
We are massive fans of the flagship NYC restaurant, but while the Inn has a beautiful interior, the food was very average and over-priced. It is disappointing to be charged prices based on the brand name, but not to have a menu and quality to match - we can name several better experiences more local to us at half the price, albeit not in such a charming setting. We found the service to be very friendly, but we will not be returning given we can eat better quality food for less money closer to where we live. It is a totally understandable business model for JG to add to the portfolio with more approachable, affordable menus and locations than the NYC classic, but neither the Inn nor Happy Monkey in Greenwich make the balance between quality and price work satisfactorily. I am more than happy to pay up for quality, but not for the brand alone.

Decided to have our Christmas dinner at the Inn. Nice ambience as always, but things went south quickly. The service was like keystone cops; the team approach was clearly not working - with multiple servers working the same tables such that none of them seemed to have ownership. Noone was tracking our table and the prix fix menu of three items took 2.5 hours from start to finish; we waited for more than an hour for our entrees. The food was mostly good, though they were out of the entree I intended to have (half way through the day) and the chocolate pudding cake was inedible. We had to ask for bread as it was never offered. The vocal complaints from other tables also created a pretty sour atmosphere. It was a pretty disappointing showing given the considerable expense and importance of the meal. I won't entrust them with another Christmas dinner.
Be the first to ReplySlow, sloppy and totally overrated
Sunday brunch at a beautiful location but the food is no where near a michelin star restaurant and service was sloppy and slow. Despite the kind mannerisms of the staff, after numerous times we asked where the food was, they reassured it was “coming” and 30 mins later it had arrived. Other remarks: a whole bottle of red wine finished and the waiter did not bring a basket of bread, the wine glasses were not appropriate for red wine (narrow white wine), the salads are below mediocre, food in general did not keep up with michelin star quality and ridiculously overpriced. Brunch for 6 people = $ 600 + And we were hungry and not satisfied at the end. Pros (so to speak): location, desserts, bread & olive oil. Overall remark: ridiculous.
Be the first to ReplyBAD SERVICE
Such bad service from beginning to the end. The hostesses didn't look up for several seconds, busy checking hair and clothes with each other before they silently walked us to our table. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and equally as disappointed with his fellow "HS aged" waiters who were not on the water topups. Once he took our order we never saw him again anyway. One glass of water at the start. No one asked for refills of drinks. 1hr wait between courses....after chasing. They didn't have bombay or tanqueray gin. Lots of staff running around but somehow never ever came to check on us. The maitre D' was useless when we complained. Wow, just wow.

Great venue, super friendly service, great food. Kitchen incapable of producing food in a timely manner. 80 minutes not yet received our mains. Asked to serve chicken with starters to serve a 3 year old boy. Still wAiting for 60 minutes. Too bad, we like this place but we don’t want to spend 3 hours on a Thursday night.
Be the first to ReplyExceedingly average food with terrible service
I definitely had high expectations for this given Jean Georges but was quite disappointed. The dishes were standard and not very good at that. The place was beautiful so they definitely get points for it. However the service was non existent and trying to catch their attention was an exercise in frustration- especially with a dreadfully loud room downstairs- I literally had to wave and shout in order to get service - unacceptable

An underwhelmingly expensive dinner. The place is beautiful. The outside is a rustic, historic, colonial building with valet parking. The inside is decorated with a mix of modern farm house meets sexy NYC modern cocktail lounge. Very dimly lit and spacious. Their downstairs had a really off-putting, putrid smell which we luckily were seated far away from. Our 7:45 pm reservation wasn’t seated until 8:10 pm. I’ve seen many reviews on here complaining about the slow service and I can attest to that. We waited about 5 minutes after being seated before our drinks were ordered. Then another 10 minutes before our courses were ordered. The appetizers came 15 minutes later. We ordered the burrata appetizer and the fluke tartare. They mistakenly gave us the tuna tartare, which they comped, and brought the fluke shortly after. The appetizers were great. The burrata was light, soft and paired well with the jam. Both of the fish dishes were also sublime. Now, after our first course was cleared, we waited close to 30 minutes before our main courses were served. I had the risotto which was rich, creamy and delicious, with a side of grilled chicken. The lamb was ok, but definitely not worth $68 - oh yeah, and by the way, the prices on their website isn’t up to date. The beef tenderloin was also just ok. After we finished, we waited 15-20 minutes before we could find someone’s attention to get our bill. Mind you, there were plenty of staff around but they prioritized turning down the rest of the empty tables to close the restaurant instead of checking in with is. All in all, quite a disappointing experience considering the restaurant is affiliated with Jean George.

Each part of the dinner was wonderful. From the cocktails to the staff to the courses. There’s a real fire and everyone around us was smiling
Be the first to ReplyDinner on a Thursday evening
I reluctantly returned to this place as on previous visits the service was terrible . On a previous visit my daughter was served nuts after being clean with the wait staff that she had a severe nut allergy . Ordered drinks on sitting down but wine and pre dinner cocktails didn’t arrive until mid starters. Last night my wife and I sat at the bar and had a very good experience . I ate a Berger and my wife had the duck . The food was great . I went to the bathroom as I was leaving and it was disgusting . Used Paper towels strewn on the vanity top and generally on disarray . For the prices at this swanky joint you would expect they would pay someone to keep the bathrooms clean .

If you're going to go here, make reservations by calling, I've had issues booking online. This restaurant is definitely snooty and expensive, but they do put out good dishes and we've never had a bad experience here. They did seat us by the door once when it was cold but agreed to move us when we complained. In the past they did seem to have a more inventive menu that changed, it has stayed mostly the same for the past year and other restaurants in the area are copying their appetizers and putting new twists on them (salmon sushi), so they should try to up their game for the price-point to stay competitive.
Be the first to ReplyMade a Christmas Eve Reservation early
My wife made a reservation early for Christmas Eve for my family. Just to be sure she called them to confirm and they told us they had no reservation for us. They apparently had our contact information and phone number, but for some reason did not book us. The reservation was made on Resy. When I followed up today, they are booking manager. Ian basically told me that every reservation made on Resy goes to every restaurant we’ve ever gone to. I’m not sure I believe that story. I asked him repeatedly to try to accommodate us as it was now late and we would have a difficult time getting a new reservation at another restaurant, and he basically said too bad I reached out to their executive offices, and they have not responded in any way. It’s a shame that high end restaurants treat patrons was such a little respect. I wouldn’t go to this restaurant based on their snooty and disrespectful attitude. Restaurants like that generally don’t last long because of that kind of attitude and I’m sure they will be closed eventually to.

I left a negative review on the Inn’s Resy site and conveniently it is near impossible to read what people have to say there. We had a dinner reservation for the Sunday after Thanksgiving. When we arrived the restaurant was anything, but busy. Nevertheless, we were relegated to the lower level: essentially a basement with a bar and a handful of tables. The service was fine and the food OK; but for $125+ per diner (before tip and with negligible alcohol), one should expect a SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER DINING EXPERIENCE. My advice to the management is to close the basement or use it as just a bar for those more interested in drinking, than fine dining.

Four of us went for Thanksgiving lunch. After our first courses, which were good, we waited 3/4 of an hour for the main course of turkey we had all ordered. Tables around us with guests who had come later than we had were all served their main courses. When we asked our server what was wrong, she said she would check in the kitchen. We then asked to see the manager on duty who came to our table, apologized and said there had been a "miscommunication" in the kitchen. After another 10 minutes or so, our turkey came out. It was almost inedible-- cold slices of white meat and tough chunks of dark. By the time we had finished the ordinary hunks of pie we were presented with a check which with tip added up to almost $1000. We were surprised the manager did not offer any recompense for the horrible service, not even a glass of wine or a complementary dessert.
Be the first to ReplyGhastly food, ghastly service
Four of us went here for Thanksgiving dinner. The starters were good - a nifty endive salad with a wonderful light dressing for some and the widely admired spicy tuna for others. Then there was a 30-minute pause while later-arriving diners were served but no one came near our table. Finally we asked to see the manager. When he arrived he told us there was a “miscommunication in the kitchen.” No further info. He said, incorrectly, that he would make everything right. Several minutes later our main courses arrived. Shoe-leather quality cold and utterly tasteless turkey, gravy suitable to cement a brick wall, also cold, stuffing that looked and tasted like a miniature pressed basketball, also cold, and some cool sides. At this point we were starving and to our later regret ate what we could of the dreadful offering. The bill was around $1,000, including tip, an outrageous sum for one of the worst meals we have ever had in our lives. Since we were family, and didn’t want to further spoil our favorite holiday, we put up with what was obviously a major mess, but we will NEVER darken these doors again.
Be the first to ReplyThe worst Thanksgiving ever
45 minute wait between first course and main course… And the Thanksgiving meal was not good and hugely overpriced We have been there several times in the past and liked it. Today was a disaster…
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointed the restaurant was freezing and they didn’t do anything about it , we had a terrible experience.
We were seated at a nice corner table and we’re looking forward to a nice Saturday Brunch but it felt cold we asked the waitress and she said the heat takes a while an hour later it was still freezing, I asked one of the managers about the temperature and his answer was I placed a call with the heating company, I think it is unacceptable they should have told us from the start that they had an issue with the heating instead of that we did not finish our meal and left , very very disappointed, Jean Georges you are slipping if you can’t have good people in place , it is a shame because we always enjoyed it . But this was the last time.
Be the first to ReplyNot Worth The Money
The restaurant is beautiful and the food is nice but the prices have reached a level that make going to the Inn not worth it. AT ALL. First, the prices online do not match the prices on the menu. You should fix that. Second, you do not get much for the money...$58 for a steak...just a steak...$42 for chicken and artichokes??? Really? That just doesn't make sense in the world we live in anymore UNLESS the food and the experience is so exceptional, you cannot get it anywhere else. For the prices you are charging we want to be blown away by the food, the presentation, the flavor, the service but we just weren't. There is no way that a couple ordering two appetizers, two entrees, two sides, 3 glasses of wine, and two deserts should be well over $300. And please make sure your wait staff don't charge an extra dollar for the Rosé by the glass because we were even through the menu said differently. We don't think we will ever be back. Such a shame. One last thing, valet parking should be optional.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Food in very tight quarters
Our food was delicious and the service was attentive. Our complaint was with the fact that we were so close to the tables on either side of us that we could have joined in their conversations or eaten their food. The man to the left of me jokingly offered to sell me a slice of his pizza appetizer for $8! (it was closer to me than to him). Even without the Covid risk, these tables were way too close together. As the room filled up and the noise level increased, we elected to skip dessert. As I left, I hit my head on an overhead light which was impossible to miss given its position above the space between the two tables.
