This is our newest lunch find.
..incredible. Decor is stunning. Food Delish. Service impeccable. Will be back!
Be the first to ReplyCool vibe and experience.
The staff are extremely attentive. The monkfish was a good choice. The yuzu drop cocktail is recommended

I will say the place is beautiful, the staff is really nice, but everything else was just ok. I had the cutest cocktail ever, its called the lucky Panda and it comes in a Panda shaped glass which I loved. I had the shrimp and pork dumplings, the pepper beef and the fish, everything was good, but not memorable. The pepper beef was tasty but way to spicy for me. Willing to come back and maybe try more dishes, but not on the top of my list
Be the first to ReplyLoved everything about this restaurant.
From the food, service and décor. It was phenomenal. I came alone and was greeted by a very nice staff. The food came out promptly and tasted amazing. I had the Black Bean Ribs and Smoked Bacon Fried Rice with an egg on top. My waiter recommended the Yuzo lemon drop drink and for dessert I had the Mango Sago Pudding. It all hit the spot. Will definitely recommend and return again.

Who else but Jean George would think of an Italian Chef in an Asian Restaurant . This was probably the best Asian food that I have ever eaten. I highly recommend the duck buns and the dumplings and the cucumbers and the shrimp and anything else that you want to order . We were a large group so we got to taste most of the menu . The service was exceptional and the drinks were good too . Ask to meet Chef Anthony , you will be so surprised to meet this young man whose food is amazing .Wish I was savoy enough to get them in the running for a James Beard award or some Michelin Stars . The only negative about this hidden gem is the uniforms of the staff . They look like Chinese Prison Uniforms and do not fit correctly are wrinkled and worn with dirty converse sneakers detract from the entire establishment . There are so many fabulous asian inspired uniforms available ......
Be the first to ReplyChristmas lunch at House of the Red Pearl was smashing.
Age and I had a feast. Two orders of the superb Black Bean Spare Ribs, Chicken Potstickers, Shredded Vegetable Salad and Smoked Bacon Fried Rice with Ginger, Brussels Sprouts topped with a Crispy Fried Egg. Five ribs come in an order and decorum is vital at a restaurant so two orders were best. No fighting here! These ribs are tender and oh so delicious. We ate our fill and our plates were polished clean. Mango Sago Pudding and the Special of Black Forest Bûche de Noêl were the desserts we shared. We decided to make this our Christmas tradition and know that we will enjoy it as much as the first time we ate here. The interior of the restaurant is plush and colorful. All the servers were kind and helpful. The maîtr d'i mentioned that he was amused at my reply of writing that it was my favorite restaurant when he sent a text telling me that the restaurant was excited that we were coming for Christmas! Perhaps no one writes back?

8 rounded to 4. It's old school Shanghai charm meets fancy here. The ambiance was killing it! I could never think the seating would be so comfortable giving the fact that the restaurant was behind a grocery store. Food was a mix of Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine, which was a tad heavy to my liking. The roast duck was definitely the star of the night. It's more fried than roast in my opinion. The pickled radish and cucumber condiments helped cut out the grease, and made a nice twist to the traditional bao with duck. In general, price is on the higher end for the portion served though. Service was a bit rushed during appetizers. We also noticed that we didn't get hot towels as other tables.

Let's talk about vibing!!! From decor to flavor and oh my the drinks are amazing. Can I say the eggplant dish is to die for! No exaggeration, love, love, loved it! I can really just order this plate over and over and be satisfied. Service was on point. Friendly and accommodating. My brother is vegan and sometimes it's a compromise to settle on average food or a spot that has vegan options available. Let me say , there is no compromise here. There are vegan options and they are delicious. Drop in and try this delightful spot yourself.

Delicious Asian inspired cuisine in a delightful atmosphere and excellent service.

This place is great, it's in the 2nd floor of the Tin building all the way in the back of the mercantile store. They do take resys now, I don't believe they always have. It's Chinese/ Singaporean influenced. Basic staples for American Chinese food such as chicken with broccoli they managed to entirely change and put a different flair on. The mango sticky rice pudding is amazing. Everyone was raving about it. The drinks are good but they are slow, in general the service in the building is fairly slow aside from the beer garden and coffee shop. I think they have specific cocktail recipes they have to follow and have a lot of staff turnover.
Be the first to ReplyAn all-around great experience.
The service was excellent, the decor amazing, and the food tasty. The appetizers were the best part (get the spicy cucumbers), but the portions are extremely small. The dim sum plates come with ~4 small pieces, meaning you'll have to order a bunch of plates to even moderately fill up. The spicy peanut noodles were also great. The bacon fried rice and chicken and broccoli were just okay. The cocktail/beer menu, although limited, was unique and everyone found something they liked. The attention to detail on the decor, menus, etc. was exquisite, however, the ambience could be improved by better music. The music was just filler background noise, and I guess we were hoping for something a bit more fun and energetic. Also, the clientele was a weird mix of people dressed to the nines and then tourists in hoodies and basketball jerseys.
Be the first to ReplyUnique, provocative and very satisfying - but not cheap.
The hidden entrance is cute, more fun if you don't tell your companions where you are going (I didn't.) The decor is just as over the top and insta-worthy as it looks - it's more harmonious and intimate in person. I would really enjoy coming here at night for a cabaret act, but I think that unlikely as Jean Georges is all about the structure and discipline of his craft. I don't see any experimental spaces in the future of the Tin Building. The food was rich based on depth of flavor and umami everywhere. It's expected Chinese food that reminds you Chinese food can be elevated and special - not just cheap and convenient. Everything is served family style as it is cooked so if you want your own bowl of whatever discuss first otherwise you'll find your dish landing in the middle of the table and your companions jumping in before you can say "stop." Pro tip: I grabbed mine and put it on my plate - just stopped short of the toddlers' favorite phrase "mine!" Very classy.Dessert was pretty but really not worth it unless a pic of a 4" fortune cookie will boost your social media. Besides, there's amazing bakeries downstairs.Get there about 45 min before your reservation so you have time to stroll through the rest of the building. This is a great spot for influencers, tourists and people who really enjoy lux food. Parking is impossible in this area (I was lucky) so plan to pay, walk from at least 4 blocks or circle for 30-45 min. Streets are small and it's easy to forget this is a residential area so cars are unlikely to move on the weekend. Advanced NYC parking skills required here.

What a great way to end our NYC trip! It was so fun to find this little secret in the Tin Building (on the second floor). The service was LIGHTENING quick. The food was so delicious! (Chinese fusion and we loved all the dishes!) This would be our biggest "must-do" for anyone because it's such a fun, unique and delicious experience!!

Ambiance is A+! Gorgeous comfortable room and the service is very good. The food is shockingly mediocre with a few exceptions. The Crispy Duck was great and the shrimp rolls were tasty. The fried rice was terrible and the veggies were swimming in water! Soggy! I was surprised the food was wellbelow the quality of NYCity's Chinatown and tasted like food chain fare. Very disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyNice place to dine.
Hard to find the place though which actually adds to the experience. Love the staff. Good vibes. The reason why I gave it 4 stars is the food falls off a little bit. Pretty unique flavors that taste on the healthier side. The bacon fried rice was a bit of the let down with all the Brussels sprouts and there flavor over powered the huge chunks of pork. Will be back again this week for sure though.

The service was outstanding! We tried various dishes and they were all delicious. Looking forward to coming back. It was a pleasure to meet Tanasia, whom I believe was the manager. She was very sweet.

Absolutely loved our dinner last night for my partners birthday. Their house sodas, spring rolls, fried rice, and fortune cookie dessert were delightful!
Be the first to ReplyGreat location inside the Tin Building.
You can find the entrance through the curtains of the Asian goods section on the second floor. Once inside, I was very impressed with the interior and vibe of the restaurant; the small details from the table lamp to the menu gave me traditional Chinese in a modern day era.My party and I shared a few things:- black bean ribs - delicious, definitely fell off the bone.- spring roll in pastry puff - not impressed, pastry puff didn't have that crisp and it was forgettable without the dipping sauce.- shrimp in chili garlic - was okay.- sea bass - cooked perfectly and tasty; with the sauce, compliments your rice very well. Taste wise, nothing unique as I cook it in the same style at home.- bacon and brussel sprouts fried rice - a bit bland, definitely ask for a side of chili oil.Overall food is good and service was on par. Price is a bit high for the amount of food you're getting, but I would come again but wouldn't be running back.
Be the first to ReplyWent on a food crawl throughout this food hall for dinner
Went on a food crawl throughout this food hall for dinner and this was our first stop. Definitely make reservations here on the weekend because everywhere was pretty full, especially this spot. We split the cumin lamb and dumplings here and both were very good. The dumplings were tasty, but a bit overpriced for the quantity. The cumin lamb was great and a better portion. Never had cumin lamb like this before, which I'm pretty sure was deep fried at some point giving it a nice crunch with each bite. Probably would not go out of my way to come back, but if ever at a show at Pier 17 I'd consider it.
Be the first to ReplyI really wanted to like this place more.
It's a beautiful space, ambience, music and noise level all good. My husband and I live about a 5 minute walk away and he loves Chinese food (I'm more of a Thai fan) so I though this Chinese inspired restaurant would be a nice compromise for us and close to home. We had a 6pm reservation and could have been out the door at 630- that's how fast pace the service was- way too fast. The drinks were good- I had yuzu drop and he had ketel/cran- no complaints - very good. We ordered egg drop soup (very good), veg spring rolls (tasteless), 3 nut noodles (gloopy mess- reminds me when I make sesame noodles at home and forget to rinse the noodles before adding them to the sauce), monk fish (I thought this dish was quite good- chunks of fried monkfish with bok choy and a bean sauce- my husband hated it). Service was nice and I'm sure we'll intentioned but the kitchen was way too fast. I'll come back for soup and a drink at the bar but I don't think I'll be able to drag my husband back...
