Relaxed, friendly service and delicious food.
Came for a birthday dinner. The setting was very laid back and unpretentious. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. All three courses were delicious, especially the ceviche. The wine list was interesting; quite a few new world wines. There were a few tables celebrating something and the small congratulatory brownie was a sweet touch. Shame to see it's closing. If we lived closer we would have dined here more often.
Be the first to ReplyGoodbye old friend, a somewhat faded farewell
We've been going to the Glasshouse for about 15 years, only two to three times a year and it always was special. However this time I was led to ask does it still have a star? Now I see it is closing and maybe that is why it didn't sparkle as brightly yesterday. There are obvious signs of economies that are not reflected in the bill - maybe another pandemic victim. The breads, no longer the delightful selection of earlier days but a piece of delicious sourdough each. The Australian truffle with the extra cost was more of mushroom that a deep truffle, that really missed the mark. However the croquette was good, the beetroot divine and the shrimp butter just great. Gone are the days of the cheese trolley and now it is a cheese plate which was sad. It was still busy on a lunch service and I would like to thank this oasis of a restaurant for many happy memories and many marvellous meals. The area will be worse without you. We need to find a new place for new year which is a shame.

Fantastic birthday lunch for my daughter and I we were treated beautifully and the food was superb. Thank you
Be the first to ReplyLovely creative lunch after a visit to Kew Gardens
Lovely restaurant with helpful staff. Very creative spring/summer dishes making for a special lunch in nice setting. Fish dishes especially good!

Just had a wonderful meal and wine last night with our friends. The food was amazing. We all enjoyed every course. The service was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, shame about the rest
The food was excellent, marred by the fact that it was just dumped, literally, at our table! Had a bottle of Merlot, which was cold. When we asked the 'sommelier', she 'assured' us that it was at their cellar temperature, 'like all the rest of our wines, at a steady 12 degrees, which is the temperature that Merlot should be served'!! Meanwhile, we had to ask for some bread and butter 3 times, and, when the bread eventually arrived, it was with no butter, for which we had to ask yet again. Following all this, we pointed out that we did not think that we wanted to pay the additional service charge, as we did not think the service we received deserved it. On this, the manageress marched up to us demanding to know why!!! we did, of course, explain fully. A great shame
Be the first to ReplyAmazing lunch, a huge treat
Had a lovely lunch with a friend here after a morning at Kew. I’ve previously been to Chez Bruce many times and never been disappointed and this was no exception. Beautifully fitted out with lovely tableware. The menu is seasonal with a good range of options and not too overstated. I had the truffle linguine, chicken with ravioli and chocolate dessert. I don’t know how they cook the chicken but is is butter knife soft. Friend had pigs head croquette, lamb and pavlova, all were delicious and though the portions look quite restrained they are very filling and full of flavours. We wished we’d asked for more bread as the sauces were great and we almost cried a bit at the leftovers - considered licking the plates. The service is attentive without being intrusive. Overall I’d say this place is fancy without being pretentious, luxury without being too expensive. Very extensive wine list, I’m not sophisticated enough for, we went for a bottle and although it would have cost a bit more I think I’d go for the wine parings in future as there was clearly a lot of though gone into them. £52 for three courses is very good value, you could easily pay the same for mediocre gastro pub and this is anything but mediocre. The last time I visited the sister restaurant was the day we went into lockdown two so it was great to see it thriving and busy. On that note tables are well spaced, sanitisers on tables and spotlessly clean so first time eating out since 2020 felt very safe as well as a huge treat. Dozed off on the tube home a very happy girl.

Superb dinner. We enjoyed the warm welcome, attentive service, great atmosphere and great food. I don't think I would ever tire of eating pappardelle with truffle and parmesan. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous food and great service
Got an early table and was pleased that restaurant was already starting to fill. Great atmosphere and service. Order was taken promptly and rest of service was comfortably timed, not rushed but no over long waits. Food was extremely well prepared and presented. Reasonably priced and without any of the pretentiousness that sometimes comes with Michelin starred restaurants.

Six of us enjoyed a lovely meal with wine as a catch up together,
The Menu is small but just right with a large wine menu choice to suit all needs.
It's a lovely bright and airy feel inside the restaurant with service and helpful staff that looks after you at just the right pace.
Good as always
Welcoming with a smile, relaxed ambience and a good service.
The food was good as always the rabbit was amazing and was my chocolate dessert.
Truly Special
We hadn't been able to visit the Glasshouse for a while, yet still received a lovely warm welcome. Top class, top quality; delicious food and exceptional service. Promise not to leave it so long next time !

Beautifully presented but high on orgasmic taste!!
Try the pappardelle with slow cooked ceps, truffle and aged parmesan.......Superb
Everything you could wish for from a Michelin star restaurant.
Also 20 yards from Kew gardens station.
Attentive, professional staff and exceptional food
This was one of the nicest dining experiences I have ever had. I suffer from severe food allergies which quite often cause me stress when I am eating out. The team at the Glasshouse were all over my dietary requirements and I was able to properly relax and enjoy myself. The service and food were exceptional and I will be coming back to the Glasshouse with family and friends for special occasions. Finish off a day in Kew Gardens by coming here. You won't be disappointed
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for a special meal
Dropped in for a quick business lunch, no booking but the restaurant managed to cater for us. The place offers a set 3 course menu for lunchtime which offers good value. We went with the foie gras and salmon sashimi starters which both were excellently presented.
To follow we both had the sea bream in light curry broth and vegetable samosa which was one of the best fish dishes I have had in some time. We finished with a passion fruit pavlova and caramel tart with honeycomb and stout ice cream which rounded out the meal divinely.
The menu provides a wine pairing to each dish to perfectly balance the flavours presented. The restaurant service was balanced between attentive and yet not intrusive. Ideal location next to Kew Station for ease of access or following a trip around Kew Gardens.
Fabulous Meal
One of the best meals we have had in a long time. The food was excellent and the service was fabulous. Highly recommended!

Be the first to ReplyBest Restaurant I've Visited For A Long While
My wife and I have eaten here twice now, the last time was New Year Eve. Each time the staff have been excellent and the food outstanding. Now we have found The Glasshouse we will become regular visitors. Well done to the kitchen and front of house staff, you have got a winning formula.

Very friendly and welcoming during the telephone reservation booking process. Not so much from the serving staff on the day though, but perhaps this was due to Covid restrictions lowering enthusiasm for the future. We always like coming to this select place in the delightful Kew Village and the food was, as usual, top rate - although this time there did seem to be an over-reliance on the excellent sauces which tended to dominate the food. The set lunch menu is good value but be prepared for sky high wine prices. Parking after noon is easy in local residential roads.
