Nice mojito in the town
I came to the pavilion cafe with friends for drinks. The bar had very good music, staff member (Kinga) was very approachable and smiley. Amazing views and atmosphere lovely place to sit and have a drink whilst seeing the sights of Edinburgh!

Great location. Efficient, friendly service. Clean & tidy. Lovely ice cream. Decent choice of flavours & tasty. Fair price considering the location. Good background music!
Be the first to Reply5/5 for taste and view
Can’t get a better view when enjoying a mojito! Bar man was friendly and my cocktail was delicious. Sat down with a view of Edinburgh castle. Went back later in the day to the cafe part and grabbed an ice cream (I recommend the mango sorbet). 5/5 for taste and service. Thanks fountain cafe.

The service was great, very friendly staff that were helpful and attentive. The food was great, strawberry tart was 10 out of 10 and the chicken burger was amazing. Great atmosphere to sit and have some lovely food.
Be the first to ReplyNot too bad fish and chips
My wife and I had fish and chips here and it wasn't too bad an experience at all. The person that served us was polite and efficient. The price of the meal and drinks very reasonable, considering that we were sitting right under the castle in Princes Street Gardens on a lovely sunny day, so lovely scenery. The meal was soon ready and quite edible - admittedly the fish was a little greasy, but still quite tasty and there was loads of chips. We considered that we got good value for money and would eat here again.

Avoid at all costs. Probably charge you for walking past. Just a rip off. Asked for an itemised receipt because the charge was exorbitant and women acted as though she had never heard of that request.

Ordered 2 slices of pizza..well think that's what we got. Almost like a heel off a loaf with chewy cheese and heated up in a microwave.
2x thimble size glasses of wine at £6 each....pay less in a nice bar.
Rude staff...love it when you get sighed at.
Tourist must shiver at what they get and pay for here.
Avoid! Unless you like rude service!
My wife and I visited this cafe and went to the centre counter to order two drinks. We were approached by a middle age member of staff who asked us to use a side counter window, which was fine. We were then left waiting, waiting and waiting ( which was odd as there were 3 members of staff and no one serving customers at the time) . My wife politely asked whether anyone was serving. Rather than a simple apology we encounted 'Dr jeckle' who began to chastise my wife saying "that's the problem of people these days all me, me, me and have no patience! My wife tried to explain that she was not like that and was politely asking, but to no avail. Dr jeckle continued his strange rant. Have to say in 50yrs this is the worst customer service we have ever experienced! Judging by the other reviews on here they are true. Probably the worst customer service on the planet. If you like rude service this is the place for you! Avoid!

The staff here are fantastic. They went above and beyond to help me and my partner in an extremely difficult situation. Can't thank you enough

Three staff, two younger ones were pleasant, but the older man was extremely rude. Who does he think he is!! Would never normally use this over priced place but my friend wanted a hot drink as it was a very cold day. Almost £13 for a small hot chocolate a bottle of fanta and two cakes. The hot chocolate was nice as was the berry muffin but the toffee blondie wasn't, it was dry and stale tasting with one tiny piece of toffee. It should have been called a chocolate blondie as the chocolate way out numbered the toffee.
Plenty of other places open in Princes street were staff are nice to customers and don't over charge.
So pleased that It's open during lockdown
I visited with 2friends on a lovely Sunny day with a blue Sky when Edinburgh looks it's best . It was extremely busy a large Queue had formed as it's takeaway only. I was impressed by how quickly we got served by a polite and friendly and chatty gentleman considering having to wear a Mask and protective gloves. We ordered from their range of traybakes and had coffees and some herbal teas. There was only 2members of staff on but they did a great job so grateful they are open at this time of lockdown.
Be the first to ReplyThe worst service experience I've ever had
My partner and I went for a walk around the centre and came across this cafe, and thought it would be nice for a warm drink and a bite to eat. When I tell you I was wrong, you'd best believe it. When we went up to the counter, we were originally greeted by a pleasant younger server who took our hot chocolate order. Then, deciding that we were peckish, I decided I would order a bacon roll, "made to order". Well, it certainly wasn't. An older man came over and began to make my sandwich while barking questions at us from the other side of the cafe. When we couldn't hear what he said, he began to chastise us for being rude, when he couldn't hear my response. My partner asked for something vegetarian, and he mumbled a response, to which we agreed though we were uncertain what he was making. When he handed us our food, it looked like someone had thrown up on my partners vegetarian "bean bun" and put a shed-load of cheese on top. Next was the bacon roll. He claimed there wasn't much bacon left and said that he wouldn't charge me for it, and when I thanked him, he proceeded to shout at me incoherently and claiming all he was trying to do was be nice. I was so taken aback, I simply paid for the food and left. When we sat down to eat it, the bacon smelled rancid, and I quickly realised why he couldn't charge for it, as it was literally grey and inedible. I would have taken my food back, but was so shaken that I couldn't bring myself. As a young woman, I felt extremely vulnerable and looking at all the other response, I don't think I'm the only one to receive this unacceptable service. Will NEVER be returning here, which is a shame as the location is lovely. To top it all off, my partner's meal was disgusting, and the hot chocolate was very watery. DO NOT COME HERE, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Go to Daneli's Deli instead, it's only around the corner and is exponentially better. #peaceandlovetodanelis
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely appalling food, complete rip off. Avoid at all costs
Ordered bacon sandwiches for £3 each, the bacon looked like it had been boiled - it was grey in colour and the fat flabby. The condiments were provided in basic budget sachets - one of which had split open, and not at all eco friendly. Service was very abrupt. We ended up feeding both of them to the dog.
Be the first to ReplyOver priced , mediocre coffee Strange rude service by Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde owner
He kept talking over us, we were feeling uncomfortable, also asking inappropriate questions and being dismissive. Coffee was £3.20 which is ridiculous. My second and last visit as first time he was very polite and a gentleman. Strange cafe owner indeed and a unpleasant character.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced & Very Rude Staff
Negatives:
We went in to order drinks, older staff member serving us was very abrupt and rude, cutting my family member off mid-sentence to instruct only one of us to talk to him (saying the rest of us should pass our order to one person). We were waiting to give our orders and only 2 people had said anything at that point, and they were never speaking over one another. He was rude and disrespectful throughout, and even once he saw us looking at eachother in disbelief he continued to talk patronisingly and arrogantly to everyone in the party.
A single bottle of Corona was £6, bringing the total for 2 cans of soft drink, 2 beers, 1 Americano and a pastry to around £22.
The two other staff members seemed pleasant enough, however the way we were treated by the older man was shocking, especially for the prices that we were expected to pay.
I hardly ever write reviews but I can't dissuade enough anyone planning on eating/drinking here.
I hope some of the money from the overpriced drinks can go into staff training, so maybe he could learn a modicum of respect or geniality.
Positives:
Outdoor seating, meaning you can limit contact with this staff member after you have ordered.
Terrible Server, Extremely Overpriced
The man serving us was the rudest server I have ever come across. 5 of us approached the counter, deciding what to buy. One of our party said to the server that she wasn't yet sure what she'd like to get, wherein another of our party stated what she would like. Abrubtly and aggressively he asked, "Are you with her?", to which she replied "yes" . He said in response, "Only one person speaking!", stating he wanted only one person to relay the order of the whole party, despite the fact that we were all standing in front of him (with masks on, only ordering drinks as most people had) and it was utterly pointless having one person repeat each request that he could blatantly hear.
He made no apology for his outburst, and continued in the same manner--very abrupt and rude. I wanted to leave, but we'd already received one of our drinks (btw, £6 for a 330ml corona!).
The other staff seemed friendly, though we had little interaction with them. This guy looked to be in his 60s and likely the owner, and if any business should go bust at this time, it should be one owned by such a person. To add, my corona wasn't even chilled--the least you'd expect for a hefty price of £6.
