A fun spot
We have been to The Crack Shack several times and it has always been fun although it is a bit expensive and overpriced. It is fun for children and is very dog friendly. If you are there without children sit at the bar for faster service.

The Cali Drip was amazing. The chicken was moist and tender. The strawberry Cookie Crunch shake was tasty and refreshing.
Be the first to ReplyGet your chicken together!!
So, I keep trying this restaurant because it has such good location and very cool layout. And I keep getting disappointed because the chicken either has absolutely no taste or in fact is terrible. I went there today for lunch after watching a commercial on TV for Popeye's new blackened chicken sandwich. It looked soooo good! But the nearest Popeye's was like ten miles away. That's a bit ridiculous for a fast food visit. So, I went to Crack Shack instead in Encinitas. And, JFC, this chicken is just terrible. Why can't you guys get this right? The bar is good. The TVs are great. The open air concept and polished concrete floors are cool. But the chicken--either in a salad, or fried, or on a sandwich--really stinks. Here's a suggestion: take your test kitchen employees down the street to Chik-fil-A (it's only a mile away) and buy 100 chicken sandwiches. Take them back home and deconstruct. Who makes the bun? Who makes the chicken patty? What are the spices? And just 100% imitate a Chik-fil-A sandwich. Just get that right. And take all the rest of your menu items off. Then go to down the street to Chick's. They specialize in rotisserie chicken and it is amazing. Same thing. Buy 100 chickens and deconstruct. Add this to your menu in various dishes and proportions: several salads, whole bird, half bird, rice bowl, and etc... And again, it's only one mile down the road. Now if you get all this right, the last thing you need to do is get rid of the bulletin with a hundred photos of dogs. What do dogs and chickens have in common. Oh, that's right. Well, let's not go there. In any event, you aren't buying anyone's good will by being the fast casual restaurant that specializes in crappy chicken but is friendly to dogs. Really stupid conceptualization. So, come on man! You guys need to get your chicken together!!!

Stopped in for the first time. Got the double cluck which is a huge piece of chicken on a great bun with pickles and slaw. It was so tender and tasty! The fries were awesome too. Great setting with lots of outdoor seating.
Be the first to ReplyVery Good Considering This Is Take Out Fried Chicken
We had read this was one of the top places in San Diego County to find fried chicken. Having lived in the south, our standards were high. Given that the chain was an off shoot from the Juniper & Ivy restaurant in Little Italy which is a favorite, we headed here after placing an online order. It is very popular and the parking lot always packed. We have never eaten in the place which is a mammoth shed with picnic tables and bar. Definitely family style. They use jidori chicken only. Honestly, I cannot tell the difference. You can order combo packs or a la carte. It is a lot of chicken. The chicken is cooked to order and timed for your arrival, so it is moist inside and crispy outside. This is not spicy chicken but has a pleasant amount of seasoning. I love their unusual cole slaw which has pickles and jalapeño peppers (these can be picked out if you like). The fries are good, but not as good as the chicken. They serve them with and without "schmaltz." I assume this refers to being cooked in animal fat versus vegetable oil. I could not tell much difference which was surprising. I think this is the go to place for take out chicken in the north county.
Be the first to ReplyIt’s so good, but expensive
This place is SO good. One of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. The chicken is moist and tender and the French fries are super yummy. Everything is so good, but it’s so expensive and when we went it did take a while to get our food. So if you have time and money to kill definitely go eat here!
Be the first to ReplyChicken done right!
Now this is chicken done right! My wife loved the gluten-free fried chicken… the GF breading was amazing! The Coup de Ville sandwich is my favorite. My only disappointment is that their deviled eggs didn’t survive COVID-19.
Full disclosure - it’s so good be prepared to wait in line or for a table.
Great sandwiches
I like the Double clucker an the Bae. Salads are good size. Somewhat expensive $$. Convenient off freeway, nice service.
Be the first to ReplyUnique Sandwiches
The sandwiches were tasty and unique and I got to have gluten free chicken tenders!! The dining room opens up like a barn so there is ample “outdoor” seating.
Be the first to ReplyGood food but pricey
Nice place, outdoor seating as well as ventilated indoor seating. Chicken sandwiches were very good, but the place is definitely very pricey. Had to check it out just for the name.
Be the first to ReplyI Loved/Hated this place!
Food was great-we ordered the 5 piece chicken, Miso Healthy, Deviled Eggs, Fries and Mini Biscuits. The only "meh" were the biscuits. We sat at the bar and had fantastic service. That said I hated the overall atmosphere. It was loud with kids running around, seating was hard to find and it just lacked personality.
Be the first to ReplyOMG
I don't think I could find a better chicken sandwich anywhere else. It was very tasty. The fries were great. The beer was cold and tasty. I enjoyed my experience.
Be the first to ReplyPoor qaulity
I ordered a chicken sanwich and was absolutely the worst sandwich. I should have returned it. The chicken was so tough and actually had fat in it. I ate here when they first opened and the food was good but the quality has really gone down. Chick fil A has a better sandwich! Dont waste your money!
Be the first to ReplyJust ok. Not the greatest.
Just ok. Not the greatest. Go on a warm night or you will be cold. Small selection on menu which is usually good. About the only thing to order is chicken, salad, biscuits, fries and chicken sandwich. Chicken is ok. Tried this restaurant twice.
