Very good but don't expect a Maryland Crab Cake in New Jersey
Expected a long wait since the parking lot was full but the restaurant is deceptively large. Matthew was our waiter. We had great service and he was able to answer our questions. There were three of us so the Treasure Chest Appetizer was just right however. The crab bites had large pieces of crab meat and were very good, much better than the crab cakes on the Steak and Cake Platters. The steak was good and cooked correctly but the crab cakes were more filler than crab. The Blackened Mahi was fantastic and not so black you couldn't taste the fish. Overall I'm glad we went and would go again.
Be the first to ReplyCreamy Crab Bisque to die for
This was my 1st time at The Crab Trap and I was not disappointed! I had a lighter dinner of the Creamy Crab Bisque and the Treasure Chest combination appetizer. To drink I had the nonalcoholic Blood Orange Fizzle. The Crab Bisque was the best I’ve ever had with so many melt in your mouth crab pieces. The appetizer was fantastic as well plus the drink hit the spot. Oh, and the bread basket was hot and delicious. Would definitely return again to try other things.

Not a seafood lover. Glad they had other options. Nice service. I tried the chicken piccata. It was excellent. The broccoli was very hard, barely cooked and hard to cut. Very busty but we’re seated quickly.

We’ve been coming for over 40+ years. We live local and when we want nice dinner we don’t even need asked each other where wanna go we already know Crab Trap. Food always always awesome and service as well.

This place is worth the wait. That being said, we were told a 30 minute wait when we arrived but were able to score 2 seats at the bar 5 minutes later. The parking lot is usually full but there is an overglow stone lot across the street where you can find a spot. The seafood is fresh and the service was great. The fresh Oyster, clam and shrimp appetizer was outstanding. The salmon special and crab dinner were also delicious. The drinks were fresh and on point. They have a large menu with added specials. I wish I had room for dessert. The person next to me was raving about the banana cream pie and it looked amazing! Next time.

Reasonably priced(for Atlantic city). Food and service were very good. Friendly staff! A bit of a drive from Atlantic city.
Be the first to ReplyLooking for a Great Lunch in Atlantic City? Then Go To Somers Point
One of the problems with Atlantic City is that good food is limited in the daytime. Most of the Fine Dining establishments are only open for dinner. For a great lunch or early supper, you have to go offshore; and when you go offshore, just go straight to the Crab Trap for good food and good service. My Best Friend told me to select the best restaurant in Atlantic City for lunch as a treat for my holiday birthday. I was in search of a good steak, after all the fish and fowl of Christmas. It would have been easier to find a Partridge in a Pear Tree. The first choice boasted an appealing menu for lunch, but upon arrival, the closest thing they had was a short rib grilled cheese sandwich, although the view was lovely, we decided to leave. Next was a so-so restaurant with an appealing menu online and a view of the effects of Global Warming, only to find out that the appealing menu had gone south of the border and the kitchen was now pumping out Mex-Tex. I did not initially select the Crab Trap, because I was thinking STEAK. My Bestie, having spent Christmas in New Orleans, had shrimp overload. We decided to go red. Bestie had the Rueben, I had the petite Filet Mignon, we added some Crab Bites ( please do!) and the Soup Sampler”1-1-1”. My Absolute Martini was all that, and Carol, our Server was very efficient, even on a busy day. It was worth the trip to Somers Point to end up at The Crab Trap.

I’ve been to the Crab Trap so many tandem it’s always Good! Service is good and the food is very good! I had the dinner specials two nights in a row and both were amazing! I had pistachio crusted halibut one night then a Red snapper spinach lump crab meat rice risotto that was delicious the next night!
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Seafood Establishment
My parents and I visited this establishment for my birthday dinner on 11/11/23, it was our first time. We were welcomed by the hostess who brought us to our table where we met our server Veronica who was pleasant & professional, a spectacular server. We ordered our starter and drinks, I had the Jameson Old Fashioned, it was a great drink, and my mother had a glass of red. The homemade rolls were absolutely delicious, warm and lovely, the salads were very nice with the creamy Italian dressing. The Clams Casino was remarkable, the best ever, truly the best seller, my father opted for the crab bisque, absolutely divine. Now to our entrees, I had the Rib & Lobster combination, omg was it beyond outstanding, the prime rib and lobster tails were expertly prepared, melted in my mouth succulent deliciousness. My mother has the red snapper special, she was very pleased with hers, my father had Surf n turf, he raved about the filet & lobster was prepared to perfection and absolutely delicious. Then we ended the evening with wonderful hot coffee & a slice of chocolate peanut butter pie, it was a slice of heaven. Overall this is a true seafood establishment with a commendable reputation. As a Culinarian/Foodie, I Highly Recommend The Crab Trap. Tell them Charlie sent ya!

Be the first to Reply“Management” does it again…
Well, as a loyal, steady, eat there all the time, customer I’m never surprised at the bad management decisions made by the seemingly punitive “powers that be”. I graduated from the wait too long to sit in the dining room, to I now eat at the bar regular. Sadly, I’ve witnessed wonderful, engaging, energetic servers terminated, time and time again… Recently, a terrific server was terminated, based on what I was told, over a specious complaint by an unreasonable customer. This particular server has been terrific. She has served me food and drinks dozens of times if not more. I jovially referred to her as part of the A Team. Today I was informed she was fired. That news left a very unpleasant aftertaste. Good Luck Aly*** Let me know where you will be working and Maria and I will be there!

Be the first to ReplyExcellent Seafood
Very popular venue noted for long wait times. Even busy on Monday evening after the close of tourist season. I enjoyed steamed clams and steamed mussels for dinner. My spouse had Crispy Grilled Crab cakes. The food was excellent. Our daughter had the Chilled Combo Platter with lobster, shrimp, clams, crab meat, potato salad and Cole slaw. Son-in-law had a very large Prime Rib which looked wonderful.

We love the Crab Trap! We eat here all the time. They have the best crab cakes and the food is always consistent. The early bird menu is one of the best secrets in Somers Point and the service is excellent. There is often a wait, but so does EVERY seafood restaurant in the area. If you are complaining about wait times, then go eat at Wendy's. There is a reason there is a line out the door.

Excellent meal! It had been a while since I had been to the Crab Trap and I knew there could be a wait. My wife had never been there and I wanted to make sure she experienced it. As we parked the place looked busy but a lot of people were at the bar. The hostess told us it was a 15 minute wait, which was fine. It was a little over 5 minutes when the text came that they were ready. Our sever was very nice and it was nice to see the entire staff full of hustle. We ordered drinks and they came out super fast. We took our time deciding what to order. My wife got the broiled scallops which the menu said were the best around. And they were. I was going to get the tuna with Thai sauce but I asked if it was spicy and our server said, YES. I decided on the mahi mahi which came with shrimp and scallops. It was perfect! About 4 shrimp, a couple of scallops and the fish. I had sides of baked potato and cole slaw. Great cole slaw!! No room for desert but the table near use did and it looked awesome! We will certainly go back again!

Every thing about this place is always improving. Over the years we never realized that each Dinning area has its own General Manager. Picked up menue tips about the Seafood Bisque that only hits the menu on a sporatic basis and if you see it order it!!! It was in fact Outstanding and was not over salted like most. Try it you'll Love it!! People like us return multiple time a year over 30 years for the fresh seafood served up buy this establishment. Quality of food and service is superior!! Yes its crowded most days but we found 3 till 430PM the best time for no wait seating. No Reservations exception for private special events. If Seafood is your focus this is Place to be!

Good food, nice atmosphere, wait was an hour on a weeknight! Only downside was our very sweet waitress was not very good. She made too many mistakes.

Not gluten free friendly! Ordered a crab dip with nacho chips and wonton chips were served. Wait staff did not know what gluten was. Salad was good but took forever to come out. Disappointing lunch, unfortunately.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, unfriendly bar service.
The Crab Trap came highly recommended by the Bed and Breakfast we were staying at, as well as some of the guests. We started with a drink at the bar, while waiting for our table. They do not take reservations, so we were told our wait would be 45 minutes (which it was). The bar staff was very unfriendly, although our martinis were excellent. Our dinners were delicious: We ordered the clams casino appetizer, I had the Flounder special, and my wife had the broiled scallops. The dinners came with delicious blueberry muffins and lots of choices for sides. The service was a little slow, but it was also a very busy summer night. My wife was uncomfortable with how cold it was on the premises. It was an okay visit, although we might explore somewhere else on our next trip.

Delicious food. Friendly service. On-site manager who visits every table. Ask for Earlybird menu M-F if you check in between 3-5 pm. Relaxed fine dining. Everyone knows it’s the best food around, so prepare to wait to be seated.
