Enjoyed Our Dinner - Three Sushi Rolls and More
Sato Sushi is now where Ocean Blue Sushi Club Restaurant is. We arrived about 6:30 and to make the restaurant look "full" they gave us a window seat instead of a nicer seat in the kimono room. We did have a good view of the football playoff games which we enjoyed watching during dinner. We did enjoy our dinner. We had miso soup, agadashi tofu, three sushi rolls, and green tea ice cream. With our dinner, we enjoyed a Sapporo Beer. Service was fine.

I used to love Blue Ocean, I was surprised it had changed owners and has a new name. We gave it a try but it was a real let-down. The atmosphere has all but vanished, where it used to be cosy with character, the main dining area is too bright, loud and ruined by TVs showing sports: there's a time and place for that and this isn't it. It's ceased to be a restaurant and is now an eatery (I hate that term but it's perfect here.) the quality of the sushi has dropped as well, without mentioning that the majority of the rolls feature either deep fried prawns or cream cheese.

May be trip Advisor can start a new thread of this excellent Sushi eatery in Sunnyvale. I will start using its new name "Sato" I was always wondering when will a high quality sushi eatery show up at the famous El Camino Real in Sunnyvale. Sato fills the void. The parking is OK, as in all eateries in El Camino, parking does take a little bit of work, but you should be able to get a parking space within a few minutes of circling within a parking lot. There is an Indian Grocery stores on the other end of this strip mall that brings customer parking in front of Sato, but the good side is they do turn around fast. The ambiance is excellent, it so far attracts clientele that are on the quiet sophisticated side, Meaning this is great for dates, business meeting and occasions that requires less sound pollution from other tables. The sushi and sashimi are excellent, especially the fish. I do wish they serve more shell fish that are in season, They seems to shy away from it., The rolls are top notch, probably the best aesthetically in the Bay area, there are no seconds. The only cooked food I have tried is the tempura. They are not as good as the sushi/ The dough, I don't know what else to call the outer fried layers, is far too heavy, it did not have the melt in your mouth type feeling. Beer selection are good, I wish they have more sake selection Saving the best for the last, the service there are just excellent. These young folks there are friendly, hard working and most of all , they care, genuinely want to see that your needs are met. I would say within a short time, if they progress on the same speed, keep investing, this place will be one of premier Sushi eatery in the Bay area. --including San Francisco.
Be the first to ReplyNow Satos Japanese Sushi, Very Good Sashimi
Ocean Blue is now Satos Japanese Sushi. We had a very enjoyable dinner. We sat in the section that has the Japanese kimonos as wall hangings; this section is quite nice. We had miso soup and salad to start. We then had agedashi tofu. We shared their small sashimi assortment. It was artistically displayed and very good. For dessert we had green tea ice cream, For our drinks we had their 19 ounce draft Sapporo and water. Service was attentive and good. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g33146-d350008-r294272060-Seto_Japanese_Cuisine-Sunnyvale_California.html#

A nice job at seeming nice. The service was good, the menu broad, the fish was good, the decor alluring enough for being next to a big strip mall. For some reason I did not get the feeling that there was so much to distinguish this place, yet in all specific manners each thing was good. See what you think, I can't not recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyGood Sashimi in Small But Trendy Ocean Blue Sushi Club
When we dine here (which has been several times now) we usually order the sashimi and share it. It is fresh and a good variety. To complement it, we order one of the appetizers. Saki is good. Service is attentive. The restaurant is in a strip mall with a busy Indian grocery store. As such, parking can sometimes be an issue. If one cannot find a spot, we can usually find one on El Camino.

Reasonable sushi. Not very cheap. Very prompt and pleasant service. Quiet and conducive for conversation.

Excellent sushi and service! We ordered many items, all were excellent. There was a happy hour menu that was outstanding.

The decor of the restaurant was cool, but the sushi was nothing special and seemed a bit over-priced to me.
