In this area there's not a lot of high end omakase tbh, so I'm sure most end up here after looking around and seeing just this place and sushi taro as the two real contenders (I'm sure more so now that taro lost their star during covid due to closing down etc). I remember nakazawa being pretty decent when it first opened, the head chef came down from the nyc location I believe and he was super personable and made the night fairly lively and fun. Fast foward a few years to 2023 and... idk it's lost a lot of its appeal. Sure if ur looking for a fancy, dress-up-y style place, this is for sure it. But other than that the atmosphere was quite and cold? Not much conversation anywhere to be found and that to me is half the fun of the chefs counter, not to mention the bump up in price. Before at like 150 ish? A head, it was easily justifiable as the quality alone merits the price point as it was not terribly high. Now tho it seems like closer to 400 for events (Valentine's Day in my case) and a hundred less for regular days? At this price point you need to do more than just have fresh fish, and sadly the new nakazawa (new head chef and staff?) doesn't have it. Especially when compared to Taro that sits at the 350 range for special and 250 for regular but is pretty much an AYCE towards the end + it's homey vibes and personable chefs ..... just can't justify nakazawa anymore. Tldr; if your looking for a stiff cold elegant high class restaurant feel + price point, come here you will get just that. Otherwise go hit up any of the other omakase places lol (don't just by who maintained their Michelin star post covid just yet :p the greats will rise again hehe)
