You might pass this restaurant and never know just how good
You might pass this restaurant and never know just how good it is by the looks of it, but do yourself a favor and check it out! Omakase is offered and required only at the sushi bar for 12-15 pieces of sushi selected by the chef. You can also dine at the regular dinner tables and order from the same menu, but a la carte. The sushi bar gives you the nice experience of watching the chefs prep and explain each piece of fish. The quality was top notch, and the accommodated our request to avoid certain fish for our own preference. Service was friendly and very prompt. 10/10.

Sushi deluxe: right balance of warm vinegar rice to healthy portions of fish on top. Chicken katsu: juicy and perfectly fried with a thin coating of panko.

While the quality of the fish was excellent, we were informed that the "Sushi Deluxe" is not available on weekends even though this is not stated on the menu. We also found a hair in the ginger, and unfortunately, the team was not very apologetic.

This review is not based on their food, because we never got that far. We placed a reservation a month in advance and when we called to confirm half hour before, they told us they don't have a reservation for us (even though we had an email confirmation). They said they can find room for us though and we kindly asked if they have a corner table because we have a service dog. They refused to have us because "other customers" have complained about dogs in the past so they no longer allow them. We tried to make it clear that accepting service dogs is not a choice, but legally required and you are discriminating against a disabled person. They kept arguing that it's "not us refusing, but the other customers complaining." We eventually gave up trying to explain cause the guy on the phone just wouldn't get it. So we never ate here because of miserable scheduling and customer service. I wouldn't bother going here whether you have a service dog or not.

Probably the worst service I've had in 10 years of living in nyc. Had a reservation but couldn't find anyone to speak with for the first 15 minutes. They say 2 couples with reservations 15 minutes after us, and still refused to sit us even while there were open tables. They were saving the open tables for reservations that were 45min+ expired. The waiter was texting the customer so clearly would prefer inconsiderate, and extremely late repeat customers over prompt and respectful new customers. Finally sat us 45 minutes late but asked if we could wait for another group to finish, so we could move to their table. Apparently our table was reserved for another (late) group. We got up and left. Will never go back.

Been there 15 times or moreOwner recommended we came back on wdnsdeayOh what a mistakeThe Japanese sushi chef was confused and slow Got tired and asked for the check which took forever and then they try to overcharge me for pieces that were supposed to be part of the regular Omakase. This is not good business for a restaurant overcharging customers is bad business.
Be the first to ReplyThe best sushi in the west village.
Casual and great value yet high quality fish. It doesn't get much better. Lots of options for different price points. This is a once a week spot in my rotation.
Be the first to ReplyWe came across this place when searching for great omakase
We came across this place when searching for great omakase that wouldn't break the bank - and we struck gold. We ordered the squid tempura appetizer and the $65 Sushi Omakase which came with 9 pieces sushi and 1 hand roll. The squid tempura was super light and crisp, with squid that wasn't chewy at all. It was a tad salty, but it didn't come with any sauce, so that worked out. As we weren't seated at the bar, the omakase came out 3 pieces at a time (3 rounds of sushi + 1 hand roll) . All the fish was delicious and very fresh - we ate mackerel, salmon, different types of tuna, uni, and sea bream to name some.We also ordered Scallop (Hotate) Sushi a la carte and it was amazingly tender and sweet. Definitely wouldn't skip this if you're a scallop fan! The service was also great. Our water glasses were never empty, and our server thoughtfully held our hand roll order so that we'd have a chance to add other sushi (hand roll always goes last!). I would 100% come back and recommend this place to anyone looking for great quality fish without needing to make a reservation and saving up for months in advance.
Be the first to ReplyIt's everything everyone is saying.
Our 12 course omakase encompass a veritable mix bag of Chu & otoro, several mackerel, even bonito pieces with obviously an uni, white fish I cannot recall which ones & an amazing squid. U can reorder anything for about $10 a pop. Literally. Get the white beer- it's awesome. We came to celebrate a half milestone bday and the team was welcoming, to the point and sang a lovely bday song. You can skip the dessert tray as it's prolly Costco mochi and go to the spot or something after.
Be the first to ReplyClassic Sushi Scam!OK, omikase only on the weekend.
No seats at the sushi bar, so I sat at a table and ordered the $65 Omikase. 9 pieces of ok sushi with a little topping on each. Nothing memorable at all except the Japanese barracuda, which tasted very fishy. Nice chopped toro hand roll as last piece. Waited 20 minutes for my first bite. Waiter very rushed, barely described anything. $15 for a very small glass of sake. $100 all in. Barely a meal. Went down the street for Joe's Pizza. Thank heavens for dependable Joe's. Want to throw away $100 for a snack?

Our party of 4 had the dinner omakase on a busy Spring Saturday night. It was worthwhile with the main takeaway being the fish was super fresh, everything was done eloquently and price was moderate. -made reservation via their website. They emailed back a few hours later to confirm. They do ask for a CC to confirm, which you call to give them-Fri and Sat night is omakase only. We got the $95 sushi and sashimi which includes sushi (not rolls) and sashimi and 1 hand roll. The star was the scallop. Super fresh. Sea urchin was excellent was well. Hand roll was pretty perfect as well. -we were able to get tap water. green tea was free too. -they do push appetizers and sake on you. We passed on both and got beers. Still were treated fine-Did felt hungry after but we were 4 above average sized men who went for the experience vs stuffing our faces (we did go to Joe's Pizza after)-Waiter did a solid job explaining and describing each item when it arrived-there was a kosher omakase option*Overall a pleasant experience with fair priced (not cheap) omakase

I had the $65 sushi omakase at lunchtime and I highly recommend. It's a (relatively) affordable way to experience *amazingly* fresh and delicious sushi, in a very intimate way. I went by myself, so it's just me and the chef, and I get to watch him prepare each piece with tenderness and care. It's hard to explain how high end sushi tastes better than the $6-$10 a roll stuff, but it really really is. Other places of this caliber go for $150++ . The $65 option isn't a ton of food but it was good for lunch for me.

Came here for their omekase and truly enjoyed every single dish that was served. High quality fish, cozy interior and great service! You can't go wrong.

Came here for a weeknight dinner and really enjoyed it! It's a great spot to have a high quality meal without leaving stuffed. The service was superb and the design of the location makes you feel like you're in Japan. We started the meal with miso soup and the shrimp dumplings, both of which were good. The highlight of the meal were the sushi choices. The uni in particular was a highlight!

Gave this spot a 3 star because the sushi ended up being decent so wanted to give the food a fair rating. When we got to the restaurant and were seated we were immediately told they do not have tap water and you are charged for water. We opted to get a Sapporo instead of paying $9 for a large bottle of water.Once we started ordering, we chose an omakase each and our waitress insisted that the food would take too long so we must order an appetizer. We finally did order a shumai, which took 15 minutes to come anyways so didn't save much time between that and the omakase. Also, the menu said our omakase was $35, but she said it was $38 and they hadn't updated the menu yet..The omakase itself was good and the fish was fresh. Unfortunately, the shumai was a bit soggy and we should have opted for the pan fried dumplings instead.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous sushi.
Their $35 sushi platter is the best fish for the $ deal in NYC.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service.
Dropped soy sauce on my sweater and then had the gall to ask for more tip when I only tipped 20usd.

Had takeout a few weeks ago and then went to the restaurant for dinner the other day. While I found the quality of the sushi excellent I felt my dining in experience was terrible. ย The pacing was atrocious. I felt like I was at some fast food joint and before I knew it the check was presented and the host was hovering over my table asking me to leave. I could understand if I had ordered maybe some gyoza and a beer but when you spend $200 per person and are asked to leave in less than an hour that is totally unacceptable. Get your act together.
Be the first to ReplyHad a very strange and unfortunate experience.
Was told we couldn't sit at the sushi bar because the chefs needed to rest for the night. Then, a "regular" came in and could sit at the sushi bar. When we confronted the host/waiter and owner they each gave reasons why that happened but it's just clear there are two classes of clientele here. Additionally, the food was fine. Served a lot of what seemed like low quality tuna and salmon. I guess that's how they maintain such cheap omakase. Will not be going back and neither should you.

Ordered through door dash. Called and spoke to manager, she made fun of me and refused to do anything about it. A Spanish lady answered the telephone and kept putting me on hold. ย Restaurant completely messed up the order and refused to send the correct one.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and very friendly staff.
Came here with a group for the Omakase (and ordered some extra's) and the sushi was incredibly fresh, full of fish and flavors that I had never tried before, including barracuda, fatty tuna, and bonito. Other types included uni, shrimp, white fish, salmon, and a bunch of others that I cannot remember. The fatty tuna and unit were especially incredible. Staff was incredibly accommodating for our raucous (and bit confused group). ย The Karage was so good - perfectly fried and hot. Incredibly tender as well.We also ended up getting additional fatty tuna had rolls which were also amazing. The staff were pushing us (in a friendly way) to eat them as soon as they came, which shows how much they value the experience and the food. Truly a wonderful experience with masterful staff. Would come back again.
Be the first to ReplyCome for high quality sushi and good service and you will
Come for high quality sushi and good service and you will not be disappointed.Came as a 9 person group and got the $135 pp open-style omakase, where the chef chooses the complete 15-piece menu. Best choice ever! Highlights were the fatty tuna and amaebi (sweet shrimp) by far. Oyster was also a very interesting start and so so fresh. Some of the other pieces were not totally up my alley - too mushy - but others liked them so ~preferences~ I guess. More detailed analysis of the three top pieces at the end. Food came out on large plates of 3-4 pieces per person at a time since we were doing the table omakase rather than eating at the bar. The waiter was so nice and very knowledgeable - explaining exactly where each piece came from (was it flown from Japan, etc.) along with additional flavors they paired with each piece. He also explained the order in which we should eat the pieces and recommended some great add-ons at the end.We ended up also getting 2x karage and 1 handroll each along with mochi ice cream- all were very good.Fatty tuna: Insanely fatty- so soft it melted in my mouth. Made me want to melt too - completely in love with this piece.Amaebi: I will have dreams about this piece for sure. Shrimp was FAT and so flavorful - slightly sticky, so so sweet, and huge. Then they served us the deep fried head, which is a testament to the quality and freshness of the shrimp. People in my party had never had it and seemed a bit hesitant, but everyone quickly ate their shrimp head and loved it. So much of the flavor is packed into the shrimp head, and eating it with a very crisp exterior and hot, juicy interior is amazing.Oyster: So fresh- flavored well with a sweet sauce. No sand or any sediments. Truly a thick piece.Karage (fried chicken): Such thin batter on the outside - so crisp and hot and fresh. I was also stuffed at this point, so the fact that it STILL tasted good really shows how good it was.Fatty tuna + scallion hand roll: Amazing as you would expect. Such a good way to end the meal! Love when they have a little piece of seaweed on the bottom so all your filling doesn't slide out. It's the small details that count!Mochi ice cream: Standard, good mochi ice cream. Mochi didn't taste too fresh- wasn't the sticky and slightly chewy texture that you would expect from fresh mochi. Would probably recommend getting another piece of sushi/ handroll instead.

Was excited to try this spot as I'd heard great things about the Brooklyn location. Nope. Despite having a reservation, we were seated at a noisy table. They charge you for water, which I'm pretty sure is illegal. They were out of all but 2 white wines available by the glass (and one of the options was a sugar free one) and the Waygu beef. Server seemed nervous and didn't communicate super well. Yes the sushi was good, but $250 later we didn't feel like we had a proper date night nor were very full.

The staffs were very nice. Very smooth service. They have a great sake and beer selection. Ask staffs for recommendation. With today's visit, I felt like they recommend based on what food you will have, not based on availability and price. Karaage was very juicy, rich. I wish the portion is more generous. They put lemon on a clip so you dont need to touch the lemon. Came in 5 pieces and 1 pepper which was very spicy. Be awareee, pepper was really spicy Tuna avocado salad was great too. The sauce made it really yummy and of course, they use fresh fish and avocado which made it really good. Omakase- we had sushi deluxe. 9 pieces of sushi and 1 handroll. They do not give you soy sauce. All sauces are served on the fish. Sushi was very fresh! I could really taste the fish and there weren't really any fishy smell. But sushi was little thin and small. I wish their portion was more generous. Overall, fresh ingredients and fish. Richy flavor, good taste, will be back!
