Absolutely amazing.
I visit every time I'm in town. You can't go wrong with your order -- especially the deviled eggs!

We dined here celebrating my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary! Our server was amazing! We had crab cakes appetizer, truffle fries, deviled eggs and the array of bread to start. I ordered the shrimp n grits and they have the grits in a lobster broth, it's delicious. We also ordered the winter squash pasta and it was it excellent. My parents ordered the scallops with a butter garlic sauce and thought they were pretty good. The wine selection is amazing. I had the red sangria and I've had better. All in all, I would definitely go back.

Came in for Sunday brunch and had high expectations based on reviews and recommendations from some folk we met in downtown Ocala. We asked to be sat outside and were seated promptly. Our server greeted us and failed to remove the remaining 3 table settings. Now for a restaurant boasting these prices in the middle of nowhere Florida, this should be expected. The service should be top notch. We ordered our drinks and I asked for the regular breakfast menu. After delivering drinks, the server asks if we're ready to order, failing to bring the breakfast menu we had asked for. She then went and got it. We got the pastries to start and again the server failed to asks if any of us have allergies. Then brings out banana bread that contains walnuts which I am allergic to. We're finally ready to order. We ordered the Bananas Foster French Toast and the Crab Benedict. Notice anything missing from the photo? NO CRAB. I asked a server to please call our server over. He rudely asks "why?" I explain that I ordered my breakfast with the crab. His response "Oh, we'll get you some on the side." NO MOTHERFCKER!" AGAIN, I'm paying an extra amount for service and food, take the dish and make it properly. Might have been I was the only non-white customer, IDK. Why isn't the line chef and the server checking dishes before they hit the tables?? Is the place nice? sure. Is it worth the prices? With the poor service and experience they provide, HELL NO! Don't waste your time or money. To the management, train your people to have manners and attention to detail. It's what we're paying for. Eggs were over done, biscuit over cooked. French toast was decent. Wouldn't come back if they comped me an entire dinner.
Be the first to ReplyI wanted this restaurant to be 5 stars.
I picked the location because I heard it was beautiful and it is a beautiful restaurant but the food was terrible out of the four dishes we ordered only one was good. I'll start with the appetizers we had the bone marrow and cream of onion soup. The bone marrow was not properly roasted, so it was still bloody. They put it on a plank instead of a dish and the grease from the bone marrow spilled onto the table and onto my husband's lap. The cream of onion soup, I don't even know, first it was cold, second the little dumplings that were supposed to be with the soup were hard as a rock. This is the first time I've ever sent soup back because I just did not like it, it just had a weird taste. It was my husband's birthday so I knew he was going to order the lamb chops and I ordered the short rib. Absolutely no complain about the lamb chops. He said they were delicious and we ordered mashed potatoes which were really really good. Our server told us that the short ribs were so tender, it falls off the bone. Well, of course it falls off the bone because it's a chunk of meat you placed on a bone! The meat was terrible. It was chewy rubbery it was just really bad. I ended up eating just the mashed potatoes and the gravy from the short ribs which was pretty good. Since it was my husband's birthday, they did bring him a complementary dessert, but never offered me dessert and I was willing to pay for one, but they just never offered it. Our meal wasn't cheap and I don't mind paying for a good food, coming from up north, we are accustomed to paying high prices for our meals but this meal was just terrible. I left a message at the restaurant later that evening because I needed the name of the servers. Someone called me from the restaurant at 6:30 in the morning, 6:30 in the morning who does that?? Last comment, I forgot to mention the amuse Bouche it was a little cup of lobster gazpacho that was outstanding!! The restaurant responded but never followed up, that says it all.

I had the pleasure of dining at Stirrups twice and was thoroughly impressed each time. The restaurant offers a stunning interior and the option for al fresco dining with views of the outdoor arena. The cuisine was exceptional; the salmon I enjoyed on the first night was the best I've ever had, while the shrimp and grits on the second night introduced me to a delightful new combination of smooth, creamy textures with just the right amount of cheese. Even though I skipped dessert, the tempting creations enjoyed by my friends looked divine. Our server, River, provided impeccable service, always anticipating our needs. My only regret is that Stirrups is a 3-hour flight away from me; otherwise, I'd be a regular!

Breakfast favorites of mine included granola parfait, banana nut bread, thick-cut smoked bacon, and sliced avacado. Kudos to Laquay who served our group with kindness and grace. Dinner favorites of mine included the crab cake and onion rings. Kudos to River who made us all smile. Stirrups is truly a FINE dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyFine dining with fabulous service every time at Stirrups.
The perfectly seasoned filet melts in your mouth. Pair it with the succulent lobster tail dipped in melted butter. It was a match made in heaven, or at least on my plate. Save room for a sweet treat from the dessert menu. It wasn't just a meal; it was a divine dining experience.

I've stayed at The Equestrian Hotel twice (once in 2024 and once in 2023), and I've had the pleasure of having dinner at Stirrups three times and breakfast four times. Every meal has been perfect, from the food to the service. I had the beef tenderloin for dinner every time, because it was so good the first time, I couldn't imagine getting anything else. It's perfectly charred on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. I'm also a big fan of the whiskey peppercorn sauce. I've tried the garlic parmesan fries and cheesy grits as sides and loved both. They also offer a bread service where you can choose from 4-5 different choices. I'm obsessed with the cheese and scallion biscuits - delicious! Breakfast is also fantastic. I've had eggs, bacon, toast, biscuits, and the yogurt parfait in different combinations over my multiple visits. The bacon is something I will be dreaming about for some time - possibly the best I've ever had anywhere. A friend with me this last trip had the croissant sandwich and it was HUGE. All the breads and pastries at this restaurant are fantastic thanks to the French bakery on site. Our service has been great for every meal. I have to shout out River, who served our large business group at dinner twice this past trip. He was fantastic (which is why we asked for him the second night)! Highly recommend Stirrups and can't wait to go back again!

I you are looking for a great meal with a beautiful setting go to Stirrups I'm not a big fan of seafood but Stirrups has throughly made me a lifetime fan Everything is fresh and delicious We had a wonderful dinner and experience the evening we were there
Be the first to ReplyThe dining room and service are spectacular.
Unfortunately the food is very much sub par. Of our group of 8, 4 entrees were so poorly prepared they were inedible. I don't mind paying a higher price for fine dining, but this kitchen needs a new head chef - there is no way a professional chef could have let some of this food leave the kitchen.
Be the first to Replythe food was decent.
I got the scallops and they were amazing, but the sides were not impressive. the restaurant is beautiful and has very polite staff. honestly i would really only go back for the experience rather than the food. Scallops again were some of the best i have ever had.
Be the first to ReplyElegantly decorated restaurant with nice menu variety.
We started with the Fried green tomatoes on a bed of pimento cheese spread and chow chow. The tomatoes had the tang and bite as green tomatoes should, but a little too thick for our taste and felt it could be elevated with a little dipping sauce. The she-crab soup was delicious, with just a slight spicy kick. My husband had the pork chop that was a thick chop with crispy exterior. It was recommended by one of our waiters Terrill (SP) to have it good medium. We did as he suggested, but the chop was a bit dry. I had the 6 oz tenderloin requested it medium rare, but it came out very rare. Flavor wise, it was underwhelming and not very warm. I much prefer the way steaks are prepared and presented at Ruth Chris'. The waiter did offer to have it refired or for us to take it home, but we declined. The shared sides are large. The asparagus was slightly underdone and the sweet potatoe gratin was very salty and rich with the bechamel sauce. The smoked old fashion was presented in a cloche filled with smoke, beautiful presentation. The soup and old fashion were the two dining highlights. We arrived 25 minutes early with a 5:30 reservation and the hostess acted a little put out that we were early. The dining room had only contained about 5 parties at that time. She did seat us early. Our waiters did a great job, especially Terrill.

We waited for a long time to even place our order (was told it was due to short staff but there were only 5 tables total and at least 3 waiters that we saw). We ordered bacon & eggs. When the food finally came, the bacon was not cooked well and had chunks of fat/grease on it. Inedible. They offered another set of bacon (we declined) and took our coffee off the bill. Begrudgingly paid the $125 bill for the eggs. Won't be back again, and canceling our dinner reservation for next week since I'm not sure I trust their ability to provide good food and service anymore. Used to be one of our favorite spots but it has gone downhill each time we visited.

We ate At Stirrups last night and the service and food were impeccable. Our server Brandon and his assistant Lisa were terrific. The food they recommended was a 5 star choice. Since we were celebrating a birthday they brought out a dessert that was delicious as well. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyTotally underwhelming.
Probably one of the worst "steakhouse tier" restaurants I have ever been to. The service was so slow; it was like watching paint dry. When they finally bring out the food, it's an extravagant presentation, but lying under those chrome domes, is pure disappointment. It was like putting a Ferrari emblem on a Prius. The equestrian center is marvelous, but stirrups is totally sub par.

Excellent for special occasions. Gourmet quality. You will not be disappointed!

Second visit was snooty and demeaning hostesses on a weeknight and being denied seating for 2 at 5 pm opening despite an empty restaurant. Guys, we're not in New York or Los Angeles to elicit such attitude. So gross. We were forced to go dine elsewhere.A local told me they don't go eat here because of the attitudes.
Be the first to ReplyFinally, I had the opportunity to dine at Stirrups.
And I wasn't disappointed. After an impressive drive through the grounds to arrive at the hotel we were greeted by a doorman and valet who took care of our car and welcomed us to the property. The lobby is large and comfortable, complete with fireplace and a remarkable collection of oil paintings of champion canines (yes, they train them too). The dining room is beautiful and roomy. We were escorted to our table and introduced to our server, Brittney, for the evening. Beverages were served and the menus were delivered to our table. Brittney explained that the restaurant changed menu offerings throughout the year and that the menu had changed a week prior to our dinner. We enjoyed fresh oysters and fried green tomatoes at the table for appetizers. Main courses included Red Fish, Pasta prepared with decadent mushrooms and steaks that were perfect. The vegetable accompaniments were perfect.Desserts were up to the meal. The wine list is remarkable and fairly priced, with something for everyone. In addition to being delicious and delightful in every way possible, the meal was served at a pace that allowed the four of us to enjoy a great evening with good friends without being rushed. It is expensive, but worth every penny.I rate this restaurant as one of the best restaurants I have had the pleasure of dining in. I look forward to my next visit
Be the first to ReplyStirrups is fine dining at its absolute best.
First of all, the restaurant is just beautiful. It is so warm and inviting. It is elegant, yet I felt like I was in the comfort of my home. It overlooks the grand arena and it's simply breathtaking, especially with all the holiday decorations up during the holiday season. Our server Hailey was EXCEPTIONAL. She was such a delight. She was personable and knowledgeable. She made excellent recommendations and accommodated any special requests that we made. She truly made us feel at home. The food far exceeded my expectations. Everything was delicious. The complimentary biscuits are a must. We had wedge salad, crab cakes, deviled eggs, scallops, short ribs, black truffle pasta, southern fried chicken, ribeye with a whiskey peppercorn sauce, truffle fries, grits, creamed spinach, pumpkin cheesecake, and caramel bread pudding. Every single thing was delicious! My sister and brother in law live in Ocala and I can assure you, I will come to Stirrups whenever I am in town. Thank you for a stellar dining experience.

We had the luxury of dining at Stirrups 3 times during our vacation; twice for dinner and once for brunch. The service is impeccable there. The food is definitely worth the money, and they are consistently providing great service and great food from what I saw. The restaurant is by reservation only. We had the prime steaks and oysters the first night with their house made steak sauce, which is gluten-free. I don't even like steak sauce, and this steak sauce is so good we came back another night and had the pork chops which were listed on the menu as ribs with a side of the steak sauce. All of their sides are very good. The oysters and mignonette sauces were great. The dessert was great. Brunch the food was good the only problem we had is that they won't deliver brunch or breakfast to your room you have to actually come downstairs and eat in the dining room. Brunch, however, was great, and I am looking forward to returning here again and again. I know great steak restaurants, and this is one of them, right in Ocala at an absolutely stunning hotel (which we stayed at). I can't wait to return and try some seafood entrees. Parking is free. The restaurant is $$$ and could go up depending on what you order. We went all out on our first dinner, and it was definitely expensive, but so worth the money. The steaks were perfection.
