Had hoped for better.
We dined here on a quiet evening with a group of 12. Service was slow taking more than an hour to get food. I had the flat iron steak, which was good. Fries were above average, but expensive for what was presented to me. The ambient temperature of the restaurant was uncomfortably cool. They have an unusual menu with an array of spices we did not care for. Specialty drinks seemed to please our group. Not a great experience overall.

Spoonbar’s happy hour is a local favorite. $8-$10 cocktail selection, $3 off any glass of wine. (A quick and delicious dinner is the pint of beer, burger & fries for $20.) The windows to the sidewalk are open in warmer weather and Spoonbar is a good way to kick off your evening.

Came for dinner on a Wednesday night. Place was practically empty. Food was great though. I had burrata appetizer as my main - huge portion. Very good with figs, capers, onions and focaccia. Husband had Wednesday special fried chicken- huge portion. Very crispy. MIL had confit duck with polenta - huge portion. Also tasty. Made the mistake of ordering Brussels sprouts. Not necessary. Service was ok but not super friendly.

Wow! After being extremely disappointed by other “Michelin star” restaurants in town, our faith in fine dining was restored here at Spoonbar. Kind of an off name, but housed in a an airy, modern building, we were immediately comfortable. Every aspect of our dining experience was exquisite. It was quiet, elegant but also relaxed. We don’t need four or five wait staff dramatically bringing our dishes out (to the wrong people)…just one, solid waiter who gets it right and checks in. The food was superb. Our party of four self-proclaimed foodies each had something different, and none were disappointed. The service was impeccable, the presentation was gorgeous and the food prepared perfectly. Don’t miss this gem. Some of the other restaurants with “stars” are much ado about nothing, and you won’t be able to hear each other over the hubbub. This

Slow and errors in dinner service, loud ambience, with mediocre and expensive cuisine. Profoundly disappointing. Eat somewhere else, virtually anywhere else.

Seafood Sundays are a steal--$49 for 3 courses, but only on Sundays. Check their web site for the weekly deals. Recommended dishes otherwise are buratta and prosciutto, charred octopus salad (unbelievably tender), and the best cioppino I have ever had in the US. Chocolate pave is decadent and the olive oil cake is a constant for my husband. He gets it weekly. Service is great with Chris and Trinity as stars. Carley gives a great welcome at the door. And Tom Mulligan's excellent kitchen experience and skill in the kitchen are evident on all selections.

This is a nice looking bar/restaurant but they didn't have their act together when we visited with another couple. The first sign of trouble was when the waiters with full plates were meeting behind our table to figure out where to take their food. They looked like they were lost. Our waitress got every order at our table wrong, more than once. The manager or supervisor didn't really seem to care. Finally, they told us our drinks and appetizers were on the house and we left. I can't recommend this restaurant. There are too many other choices in Healdsburg.

We ate dinner here on our first night in Healdsburg. The food was very good and the service was also good. Very pleasant atmosphere although we wanted to dine outside but there were no tables set up outside.
Be the first to ReplyAlways great
The food and service is always good, and I lucked out to be there for their Fried Chicken night, good foods and drink
Be the first to ReplyVery good but short of being outstanding
I will give them the benefit of the doubt and call our experience "very good" rather than "average." Limited list of entrees; I had the duck -- it was OK but nothing special. At $38 I expect more than just "OK." That said, the service was good and the patio seating was quite nice. Oh -- and the choice of desserts was limited to three --- the cake option was below average.

Really enjoyed my meal here due to its modern industrial/green plant feel, good cocktails and delicious foods. Had a great fried artichoke with basil sauce, chicken dish and then shared a a baked Alaska. All great!!

I had been to Spoonbar previously and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Being on their email list I received notice of their Wednesday night Fried Chicken Dinner. It sounded as if they were doing what Madrona Manner had done for years prior to changing ownership. They had a wonderful three course fried chicken dinner that was wonderful. They even allowed at no additional cost for you to choose all white meat. Prior to arriving at Spoonbar I had determined that I would ask for all white meat and indicate that I was willing to pay an up charge. When we arrived to our surprise the restauant was rather empty. Residents of the Healdsburg area always filled the house for the Wednesday Fried Chicken at the Madrona Manner. The wait-person handed us the menu which indicated that the fried chicken dinner was two wings and two legs with no substitutions. I was shocked in that even at KFC they give you m,ore for less. The food we had was really good and the fact that they have a no corkage fee policy was greatly appreciated. Nevertheless, my wife and I will not return after this experience. DON'T call two wings and two legs a chicken dinner.

There were 4 of us on a Saturday night, restaurant was packed and understaffed. Our main course came while we were still eating our salads and the food runner stood while we rushed to finish. He took our utensils and when we asked for silverware to be replaced and he only replaced for the person who asked, later as he passed steak knives out, he almost stabbed my husband. When we were done and placed our utensils across the plate he took one plate and the others sat until we after we left. Our server was attentive at first but never stopped by to see how our food was, nor did she assist in busing the table. Our food, (a lamb, pork and seafood entree) was average at best and didn't necessarily match the description on the menu. I'm not sure what happened that there are so many great reviews and we had what we all decided was one of our worst dining experiences. Until Spoonbar can train their employees better perhaps they should not continue packing the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyUnique, Seasonal Coctails
We simply love the Spoonbar for bright, seasonal cocktails just a block of the charming Healdsburg Plaza. Although it was too chilly to open the window walls at the bar, we enjoyed well-prepared early evening cocktails three nights in a row on a recent trip to wine country. On one occasion we ordered the deep fried artichoke appetizer which I enjoyed. The bartenders, Chris and his female counterpart (sorry, I'm terrible with names)were engaging and friendly.

My husband had the Sunday special flat iron steak, and my friend and I had the dungeness crab. My husband's meal was excellent, but the crab was served warm and without melted butter or any kind of dressing. The crab was also served with a black rice which was fairly dry and not a good accompaniment to the crab. My friend pointed out that the advertised price for the Sunday special in the Press Democrat was lower than that cited in our menus. When she questioned the waiter about this discrepancy, the waiter offered to take $30 off the price of our meal. When the meal came, the price had not been deducted, so we had to again for a deduction in our bill.
