Soseki Modern Omakase Winter Park Reviews from The Last Year
Soseki Omakase in Orlando is simply fantastic.
From start to finish, my experience here was top-notch, earning it a solid 5 stars. The Madai with orange, hanaho, and daikon was a delightful mix of flavors, and the scallop with potato, cauliflower, and caviar was just heavenly. The sushi selection was incredible, featuring a variety of fresh and flavorful options like Akami, Shima Aji, Sawara, Kasugodai, Hon Masu, Aji, Sumi Ika, 3-week dry-aged Toro, Uni, and Anago. To top it off, the wine pairings were spot-on, especially the Ohmine Sake and the 2021 Akishika Sake. With its well-deserved Michelin Star, Soseki Omakase is definitely worth a visit for anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Orlando.
I would highly recommend this Michelin star dining
I would highly recommend this Michelin star dining experience in Orlando! It is very pricey but if you are an adventurous eater, completely worth it! Each plate was prepared with so much thought and effort. Everything was worth a picture, and the bite that followed did not disappoint! The ambiance and service paired with the price point. Once we save a little more for our next dining splurge, my husband and I will be back!
Modern omakase? Not purely Japanese, more like a chef's
Modern omakase? Not purely Japanese, more like a chef's tasting menu. Bit rushed, there's a timer on the wall. Not many courses, incorporating some local ingredients. Two seatings: 5:30 and 8:30, seems like there are plenty of spots for the later one.
One of the top 5 meals of my life.
I came by myself during a work trip and was a bit nervous about how much I would enjoy a nice dinner by myself. The staff from the sommelier, the wait staff and the 4 chefs were all amazing and made this dinner an amazing experience. Each course was fantastic and the wine and sake pairing was amazingly well thought out.
Best of the best in Orlando. Worth it.
Incredible. Impeccable. Elevated. Exceptional. Thoughtful. โTsuki ga tottemo aoi naa.โ If you want a jaw dropping culinary experience in Orlando, this is it. The care infused from before you even arrive, is executed in a comfortable, exclusive environment. With only ten reservations available twice a night, a few nights a week, this has been on my radar before they were recognized by the Michelin guide. If you stack Michelin stars like gold bars, this is the spot. Intimate and unassuming, each dish and beverage pairing is executed with a love that is palpable. The dishes were created before our eyes with most fresh, local ingredients I have enjoyed at any restaurant in Florida (I can only think of one restaurant in Oregon that comes close with a menu comprised of local mushrooms.) This isnโt โfarm to tableโ, much more so with close partnerships with local farmers sourcing the most fresh ingredients possible. This isnโt simply dinner. This is an incredible experience beyond compare in this area.
Simply SUPERB = TASTY, FRESH, ARTFUL & EXEMPLARY
They call it a โmodern omakase dining experienceโ and it certainly lives up to that. What an experience! Set in the Winter Park section of Orlando this 10-seat Chefโs counter experience is part theater, given our view of the chefs preparing each DELICIOUS course. Whether it was the different types of sushi or other mains (like duck breast, duck confit or white tilefish) I couldnโt pick a favorite because they each were so tasty, so fresh, and expertly plated. Itโs easy to see why the sommelier was named Michelin Sommelier of the Year because the drinks pairing was spot on. One would expect sake drinks with a Japanese meal (there were and they were great), but what I appreciated more were the well paired Hungarian, Italian and Spanish wines that enriched the experience. The staff was professional, attentive and personable. I particularly enjoyed interacting with the chefs and learning even more about the various dishes I was about to enjoy. It is really easy to see why Soseki is one of Floridaโs initial Michelin 1* restaurant. ใฉใใใใใใจใใใใใพใ (Hopefully it translated correctly - Thank You Very Much!)
I've definitely been sleeping on this review for a while,
I've definitely been sleeping on this review for a while, but let me tell you, this was indisputably the. best. meal. of. my. life. I dined here back in Nov 2022 while I was visiting Orlando for Universal Studios and I still find myself frequently thinking back to this meal with such high regard and fond memories. With countless awe-inspiring and innovative culinary masterpieces, and such incredible raw quality of all of their ingredients, there wasn't a single dish that I didn't love. Chef Mike and his team really hit the nail on the head with his vision of modernized omakase, curating the perfect lineup of whimsical dishes that were each outstanding in their own right, but also didn't overstep the traditional nigiri course. Their passion for their craft shines through in every dish and it was such a fun dining experience to explore dishes prepared from a variety of culinary techniques. From oyster aperitifs (one resembling gin & tonic, the other resembling a martini) to the liquefied hydro-crunch lettuce in a "drinkable salad", their outside-the-box thinking always kept me enticed and on my toes for the next dish. While their menus are constantly changing in accordance with seasonal ingredients and they said that they never serve the same menu twice, my favourite dishes of the night that I would LOVE to have again were the "chips-n-dip" and the salmon. The former being the most perfect combination of caviar laid atop a bed of negitoro, complemented by homemade purple rice chips, and the latter being the most tender and buttery parboiled salmon I've ever had with an irresistible maple, dashi, miso sauce and topped with a crispy kabocha squash chip. Though those two dishes were my absolute favourites, every course felt like a dream and I didn't want to wake up! After having sampled various Michelin restaurants over the past few years, including a few in Japan, I have to say that hands-down, Soseki takes the crown for me.
Ambience 10/10! Service 10/10! FOOD: 5/10 The food quality
Ambience 10/10! Service 10/10! FOOD: 5/10 The food quality was subpar. Some fish had a strong fishy taste, and the side dishes were average. Compared to other Michelin omakase experiences I've had, it just lacked the wow factor. Dont get me wrong it was GOOD.(considering it was $300, it better be good), BUT it just didn't leave me with the desire to revisit.
This was such an amazing experience.
We just moved from Boston, where there was a ton of dining options, and I was telling my husband that I missed the food scene there. Well- this blew us away! A Michelin star restaurant, but with such humble, funny, personable staff. The food was absolutely delightful- I could keep eating all night! The drinks were also soo food. I had the French Chardonnay- so refreshing! They even provided me with a shawl when I said that I was cold, and they heard me. I wish it was a little brighter for photos (I'm a photographer on the side, but didn't want to be too obvious taking photos so tried to be quick, but the darkness made it hard for photos not to be blurry...haha) but that is probably my only complaint! ...other than that I wish it could go on all night!!!!
I took my wife for her birthday.
We ordered the dining experience with wine pairing and caviar. Really amazing experience, great people, and the food was amazing. They even gave my wife a nice birthday card and gift! One of the top 3 food experiences we have had anywhere in the world. Highly recommend!
Truly a Michelin star restaurant; an incredible experience
Truly a Michelin star restaurant; an incredible experience from start to finish. High end and original, yet still fun and (upscale) casual. Each course is well thought out, with seasonal ingredients and a combination of Japanese and nearby produce, fish and meat. If you enjoy the omekase experience, this is definitely your place! Highly recommended.
A refined dinning experience
Definitely a more refined dinning experience. The restaurant is located at a very unassuming location. But the experience starts from the moment you step into the restaurant. I will leave the rest for you to experience on your own
Had such an amazing experience during our Omakase dinner
Had such an amazing experience during our Omakase dinner here. The choices they made were fresh, local, inventive, creative, and most importantly, delicious. The whole team from the Chef to the wait staff was amazing. They made each guest feel special and taken care of. I love the vibe here too. It's small and private and they only seat a handful of people at each experience. They also change the menu a good amount to reflect seasonal produce and dishes, which means each trip is special and unique. We cannot wait to go back, this was SUCH a special experience.
Back for Lunch at Soseki Modern Omakase ! Soseki now offers
Back for Lunch at Soseki Modern Omakase ! Soseki now offers a lunch option. Don't look to get overwhelmed with sushi for lunch. Instead look to get indulged on creative dishes with local ingredients. The standout for me were the Shrimp Ceviche. They garnish it with these little purple potatoes that are fried like a chip. They explode with flavor. The main course was a Grouper Dish with a Curry sauce. It was so good. They then served a small bowl of soup that was so over the top tasty. It was like a Tom Ghi Meso soup. It was lemon grass fresh as it can get. The highlight was at the very end. They give you a small bag with 3 of the best Sesame Cookies you could buy with money!! They server girl is studying in pastry school and they are her recipe. What a all around special time!!
