Blackburn Brothers were amazing but the food and service was disappointing
The band playing was Blackburn Brothers and they were amazing we had a table near the stage and the music was incredible. Because of the size of our group we were coerced into a fixed menu. I was disappointed in the quality of the food the chicken entrรฉe was dry and the pasta was undercooked. Also when I checked my coat they gave me the wrong number and it was a challenge getting my coat back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food spoiled by poor knowledge of wine and cold food
This was supposed to be a special evening. I brought a bottle of 2000 Tua Rita Redigaffi and asked the server to have the sommelier decant the wine. I don't think they have a sommelier, as a man armed with a corkscrew showed up at the table with the wine. A sommelier would have observed that this was an extraordinary bottle of wine. This fellow pulled the cork and inverted the bottle over the decanter and dropped its contents, sediment and all, into the vessel. Our appetizers arrived - they were glorious, especially the kanpachi crudo. We were expecting the pasta to be served as a primi between appetizers and mains; however, they served the pasta together with the mains and sides. The pasta was hot (great), and the rest of the food was cold - it was as if they forgot the pasta until after they'd prepared the mains. Make no mistake, the mains were delicious - branzino, Cortofiletto, Cotoletta alla Milanese - but they were room temperature. Towards the end of the meal the server observed that there was a lot of sediment in the decanter, so she swirled it and poured the wine into our glasses, cautioning us to drink carefully. By now you'll understand that this restaurant doesn't understand wine. The server was awesome, but the cold food and the manner of serving wine put a real damper on what I'd hoped would be a special birthday treat. The nightclub-type music volume made conversation out of the question.

Before I review further, id like to be candid. My reviews are honest about how daily and small to large businesses should have the capacity to operate themselves. Here is an example of a restaurant behind Christian Louboutin, that operates with Ink Entertainment and has all the bells and whistles in the right place. My criticism and my praise for anyone establishment is sincerely based on their operation capacity. Last night, my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of enjoying our selves here, the music, atmosphere and cocktails were all splendid. Additionally, all the attendees here were well fit and well suited. Although I may be getting older and I can understand the few elders in the room, but they make for a unique and candid experience when your able to strike up a convo. The barman, fully aware of their menu and can understand what to recommend as they meet and greet a guest was just sublime and not expected. So thank you. We will be back to Sofia Yorkville.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the hype
The place looks nice, but - service is mediocre, a family restaurant has more attentive servers. The food is definitely not worth it. The fish was not cooked properly, pasta dish was not fresh and hot. When you brought it to their attention they behaved as if something is wrong with us. Very disappointing. Will not recommend!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Italian food in Toronto!
We opted to go to this restaurant instead of going to Little Italy in Toronto and it did not disappoint. Our waiter Fabian was amazing with his attention to detail and professionalism. The food was outstanding and being from NJ, we know good Italian food. Definitely worth going to if in Toronto.
Be the first to ReplySpecial restaurant for special occasions
Restaurant is located in the Center of Torontoโs trendy neighbourhood Yorkville, with access from a small entrance. Contemporary designs with nice decorations. Reservations is strongly recommended. There is a bar area which can accommodate last minute walk ins. Service was great and attentive. Table is a bit small and but close to each other. Try to have a table away from the live DJ station and recommend the table on the side or close to windows. Food were excellent with lots of wine choices to pair with. Overall, very decent restaurant with great food and service. Will definitely go back for special occasions.
Be the first to ReplyGreat hangout, dinner not-so-much
If you want a night out with friends this is a good option. South Beach vibe, nice decor and a great selection of wine. If you want quality food then there are other options in the city. On paper the menu is on par with Italian cuisine however the quality of the ingredients and preparation falls short. Great service all around but as an establishment not what would be expected for the neighborhood or price range.
Be the first to ReplyAverage Italian restaurant
Overall decoration looks cheap for a restaurant that labels itself as high end and locates in the heart of Yorkville. Food was average. We waited over an hour to get the main courses because the waiter forgot to bring the food out. The manager proactively apologized and gave us a reduced bill. Most customers are made up of females who dressed like high-end escorts and set a certain vibe for the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyLots of ambience - Lovely place to eat
Lovely ambience. We weren't celebrating anything special, but it was a very pleasant evening. We both had the black cod. It was well prepared - not a large portion - but fine for us. Roast potatoes on the side were really good. Dessert was good too. Has choices other than tiramisu - great! Service was excellent too. Our waiter was pleasant and new his stuff. We have been to Sofia's before - and will definitely be back.

Nice Yorkville restaurant, nice bar-completely over-rated for food, just fine, if U dont have designer clothes on, this not the place to go !!
Be the first to ReplyA Great Evening
We hadn't been to Sofia since covid and were happy to be back. The food was as great as we remembered and the ambiance beautiful.
Be the first to ReplyWould not go back
We had the tonno and burrata appetizer which was good. Then the sea bass for dinner. So dry and bland that I couldnโt even eat it. Side of roasted potatoes with an orange spicy sauce that did not pair well with the fish. Atmosphere was ok. But not enough to make me want to return
Be the first to ReplyGreat Location but chef clearly having a bad day as food was standard at best
Zucchini Blossoms : broght 3 blossoms for 2 people ? Incredibly over-priced. Oil after taste Fritto Misto: small fish bites, could not make out the type of fish assortment, sub par Lamb Chops: not cooked to order, lamb chops incredibly tough
Be the first to ReplyBrunch with the Ladies!
The atmosphere was bright, open an airy. There was an option to sit outside or inside. Our server was Lauren, she was absolutely amazing, she made sure everyone at the table was good all the time. The brunch menu was sparse without many options, I had the Cacio E Pepe and the concept was good but lacked a lot of flavour. A lot of people around the table thought the food was lacking flavour as well, the presentation was the best part of the plate. I also ordered the bottomless mimosas, they had a blood orange flavour and a passionfruit ginger/ honey one as well. The passionfruit mimosa was my favourite and I thought the ginger would over power it but you barely taste it, if you arenโt a big fan of ginger like me. Koodos to Lauren, I hope she sheโs this or a manager could give her a shout out as sheโs amazing at her job and super attentive. Thanks Lauren! I would like to try the dinner menu, as I heard itโs way better than the brunch options.

My wife and I went for dinner just for fun, and the energy, service, food, service and guests were awesome. We honestly felt like we were in Miami on holiday. 6 different people were involved... wine steward, 2-person chef team drop offs, server, bus boy, Manager. Every course was awesome. Wine a little too high at 3x-4x local cost. We chatted with people at tables left and right of us. Our bill was really big because we just didn't want to leave. Music upbeat but not overwhelming. Very loud overall noise level but that goes away when you are participating. Guests very well healed and the younger crowd quite glamourous with the occasional t-shirt and tatoo guys. An eclectic mix for sure. I would highly recommend if this uptempo, electric environment is suitable. Enjoyed every moment, but we were in the right mood.

Dinner there for 4 of us. The food was very tasty and the service quite good. The mains, however, were bland in presentation unless you ordered carrots, or kale or whatever for $20-$25 extra. Just a chance for the restaurant to boot up the price. I had game hen which was very tasty but displayed very blandly as was my wife's bream. No flair on the plate. My side of kale and beans was overlooked so by the time it arrived we had pretty much finished the meal. The restaurant appears to thrive on the energy of the Yorkville community and not food and presentation. Fun to be there but way overpriced looking at the food on it's own Probably a much better location for lunch or brunch. I have had many fine dining experiences in Victoria that were far superior to this location for dining if not for the location and setting.

This is a feel good restaurant from the patio to inside.
We came here for drinks and dessert.
The servers are really good but everyone is moving so fast it looks like they sped up an old movie.
I really like this place!
All time favourite
Espresso martinis are a must!!! They do it the best. Food is top tier. Vibes are insane. Sofiaโs is one of my faves in Toronto. Itโs definitely a good spot to go with friends or significant other.

If you are looking for a romantic, sexy night go to Sofia!
The atmosphere is AMAZING. Music, food, people - beautiful!
Absolutely my favorite place in Toronto!
Stunning restaurant but...
First off, the hostesses and wait staff were top notch. Made the whole experience. I didn't try my friends dishes but the avocado toast I ordered for brunch had ZERO flavour. Now we all know that eggs and avocados in and of themselves are flavourless but my dish was somehow even below that. I had to ask for salt. Strange. Might I suggest a drizzle of truffle oil...? On the flip side, the accompanying potatoes and my sage sausage side were beyond. Still, I'll go back for dinner. Great spot in Yorkville.

I had an amazing experience at Sofia last night. We didn't have a reservation, but were seated within minutes. The sommelier was extremely knowledgable and helped us select a beautiful wine. Our server, Kyle, was outstanding - one of the best and friendliest servers I've ever had. The food (oysters, branzino and steak with truffles) was delicious and well worth the price. Highly recommend.

I'am regular customer . Today went there and asked for one person table , on the was the waitress grab a food menu, I told here that I want only drinks, she's told me that we are not allowed to as customers needs to have a food to be allowed in the restaurant! They needs me before! But today they don't need me I will never go back there to give my money for the selfish people
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed Service
I was extremely disappointed with Sofia's dinner service on Saturday, Nov 21st. Things had been going pretty well, but our server moved one of the two (2) heaters before even requesting the bill - our section had 5 tables - right next to one of the tables. It was a pyramid-style heater that offers a lot of heat. The couple asked for heater 1 to be move closer to them. This came across as special treatment because the gentleman at that table appeared to be a regular by how staff and management were treating him, and he was spending lots of money again tonight. When I noticed the server moved heater #1, I immediately ask him to move it back since I now had zero heat and was cold. He offered to move heater #2, which was further away, closer to me (not a pyramid-style heater, didn't give off much heat). When I asked him why he couldn't move heater #1 back, he apologized and said the other table was getting a draft. But now I'm cold. And that's ok? The server's attitude changed when I asked for the bill - bordering on sarcastic and flippant. I asked to speak with the manager, and his response, "Well, we have a lot of managers, they're all around..." eventually confirming he'd get one was an odd response. Responding, "Certainly, just a moment," would have sufficed rather than making it sound like managers had little time for my concern (we had just spent $200 on dinner). After a long while, a manager appeared, and she apologized, saying they were short of heaters after brunch. She said she would speak with her staff then offered to move heater #2 closer. I said no point since we were leaving, having just paid the bill.
The way of how your staff and management handled this situation was offensive and should not have happened. Blatant preferential treatment is not ok, but how your staff treated me after I spoke up was glaringly disrespectful.
I recommend you steer clear of this establishment and support other restaurants with less ego, better-trained staff and equally value all of their guests.
Ps: The food here is pretty mediocre anyway.
Great Sunday brunch. Patio was good in Nov. the
