5 stars for the food, 2 for the wait and prices. This is our second time visiting after a traumatic 2+ hrs wait in our first visit. We made sure this time to be one of the first groups for dinner by queing up at 4:15 pm.. Sunday dinner technically starts at 5 pm, but if you get here at 5 pm, expect ~1 hr to get your food. To be fair, the staff seems to have learned from the many negative reviews blasting the wait time and have become faster overall. On to the food, it is the only reason why we'd endure waiting in line. Soba broth is delicious but the real star I believe is the soba. Someone commented that the noodles were undercooked, I think they might have been confused by the chewiness of handmade soba. This isn't your Mitsuwa food court fare for sure. My boyfriend got his favorite kamo nanban and I decided to try the vegan soba. Unlike other vegan dashi I've tried, there's actually tons of umami flavor in the soup. I wish it would have come with more veggies though, like a sansai soba. The shichimi they serve with the soba is very fresh and actually spicy so caution if you are a spicy food lover like me and used to putting in a tablespoon of that stuff. We also got the chashu and pressed sush appetizers. My boyfriend enjoyed the chashu. We both agree that the sushi was very light due to the halibut. It was overshadowed by the shiso and rice. I feel like they could have chosen a more flavorful fish, like mackerel or katsuo, or fatty fish like yellowtail or salmon. Overall it really hit the spot after a day of tomfoolery at PP. We ended up spending close to $100 so this is definitely a splurge. I really appreciate how the chefs are always experimenting with new flavors and menu items. We will definitely be back!
