Best crab bee hoon
Went there for my usual crab bee hoon and Kong Kong with my bottle of white wine. The bee hoon was yummy as always and the crab meat was firm and sweet. Love the chilli sauce for the Kong Kong which also goes well with the bee hoon. The crab bee hoon was $104 which is reasonable, my No Signboard visit the week before for the white pepper crab was $90+ (No bee hoon). Enjoyed my crab bee hoon fix.
Be the first to Replyaside from the good sauce dip for the gong gong....
there was nothing particularly outstanding in my opinion here and this has nothing to do with ambience. i am perfectly comfortable being in dirty (not that it was by kopitiam standards) dingy surrounds. crab bee hoon, steamed fish, scallops, prawns, cold crab and gong gong. danny was kind of doing a hard sell on us. only the gong gong dip stood out. pity. i had waited a long time to visit. the number of tables (only 3 including ours) on a friday night sort of reflects the quality of food now.

All the negative reviews about this place are accurate and true. The positive reviews are from local Singaporeans, Anthony Bourdain fanboys and people who basically don't know what good food is.
I worked in Singapore for 3 years and ate here one time. For the price I paid and the food I ate, I just shrugged my shoulders and said, "It's Singapore" which means premium 1st class prices for 3rd world quality everything.
The food here are your typical Singaporean dishes of drown your food in sauces and over do the garnishes on top. Its sloppy and lazy cooking and it's not surprising most of the positive reviews from non-Singaporeans come from people who are from bland food countries in Europe and from Australia. There is nothing masterful or skilled about these dishes. I've eaten at about 6 restaurants in different parts of the world that Tony Bourdain featured on his shows and all of them were crap. Bourdain was a lousy chef but a good writer.
There is no menu or price list for a reason. They charge non-locals more and like other reviews said, if the owner is in a bad mood, expect to be ripped off even more. You're basically paying 5 star fine dining prices in a hawkers center setting. What a joke 'lah'! $200 for crab drowned in sauce and soaked noodles? Ooookay :rolling eyes:
Amazing food in a local restaurant.
Amazing food in a local restaurant. We have Otak-otak which was delicious. Cockles, Chicken essence frog, Snails- the dipping sauce was spicy and good, Crab bee Hoon- which was yummy. However it was quite pricey. It cost us nearly $900 for 11 pax in a local restaurant

We went there for dinner with local friend. Service not special, will take the order an bring the food. Not a fancy place. Most of the people are local. The tables are on the street. Not a fancy restaurant. You go there for the food which is excellent at reasonable price. We took 2 crabs, shrimps, fish, chicken and 3 more dishes and finally payed ~220 SDG. For same food quantity at east coast touristic restaurants you'll pay double. The only problem at this restaurant is that ACCEPT ONLY CASH !!!
ENGOY.
The Best Seafood Restaurant in Singapore.
I don’t normally write food reviews, but today, I’m forced to. I’ve been eating here for more than 15 years. Seeing all the negative and unjustified reviews of Sin Huat Eating House has been infuriating. I suspect it’s because of these unjust reviews that have taken a toll on Sin Huat’s business, and I’m deeply saddened.
Firstly, let’s talk about the food. This place serves undoubtedly the best crab bee hoon in Singapore, if not the world. I challenge you to find another that is even half as decent as the one here. The other dishes are also just as wonderful. The Gong Gong is one of the freshest and its side dip is one of the most addictive. The sotong is steamed to perfection. Even the simple kailan is full of flavor.
Secondly, the service. Many have complained that the staff are rude and the laoban Danny is even worse. I beg to differ. Chef Danny is a man of few words, a man who takes pride in his work and a man who is proud of his food. Indeed a rare breed these days. The other staff do their job well. Of course, if you’re the kind of diner who expects the waiter to ask about your food after every course, then Sin Huat is not for you. Yes, the wait time may be longer than most other restaurants, but the sheer quality of the food makes up for it.
Thirdly, the ambience. Situated at a run down corner coffeeshop in Geylang, Sin Huat exudes a rustic charm. Not the cleanest or most hygienic place in Singapore, so if you’re a clean freak who sanitizes everything, then again, this place is not for you. But do rest assured that the clenaliness of the food is remarkable.
Lastly, and most importantly, the price. Most reviews express outrage over the price, stating that it‘s unreasonable and ridiculous. I strongly object. Yes, it is more than your average seafood restaurant. But Sin Huat is not your average restaurant. For those of you who are afraid of getting ripped off and being charged by Chef Danny’s mood, let me reassure you. I have kept receipts of every single meal I’ve had here since 2013. Here are the prices:
Crab: $192 for 2
Gong Gong: $25/kg (usually 1.5kg for 3 people)
Sotong: $25/kg (1 sotong is 1.5kg)
Kailan: $10 for 2-3 people
Scallop: $25/kg
In conclusion, Sin Huat is one of the best seafood cze char in Singapore. I swear by it. I have it for every birthday dinner. Ignore the negative reviews. This place is the real deal.

Place is old and service is 0. The crab beehoon is however Heavenly. Go for takeaway and you will not be disappointed.

Do not go ! Total rip off ! Waste of money! Rude owner and chef. Overpriced food. Dirty, old, dark. Don't waste your Time and money.
Be the first to ReplyEXTREMELY expensive!!
EXTREMELY expensive, poor and nasty service though not crowded and MSG laden food! Treasure your health and avoid this place at all cost. There are much better places and more affordable. No prices on menus... till you are billed. STAY AWAY!!

A total rip off that is criminal. A WARNING to visitors... DO NOT VISIT!!!
Rude staff, very long wait (2 hours minimum) and very very very very expensive.
There is no value to this meal
Dinner! Do not go! First and last time! Total rip off!
Old and dirty coffee shop. Waited more than one hour for food. Price was shocking!!!!!
$353.40 for a meal for 3 person! I would have gone to Jumbo or a nice 5 star restaurant.
If there was an option to put half a star or even no stars this place would have it. Food was so so. Do ask for the pricing before ordering. Prices were too high. 4 dishes, 3 people, over 350$?!?! This is simply an old, dirty hawker store. The only few fans we saw in the whole shop was inside next to where a small television was for them to watch their shows. Went there around 7.10pm and ordered first dish. Barely anyone eating there. Finally finished all 4 dishes at 9.30. Eating one dish after an other as they serve as and when they want to. NEVER in my life have I ever seen any restaurant de-scale a fish infront of you right after they had steamed it. Not even a hotel has done that before. Please beware when eating here. No idea how they got their michelin star in the first place. The waiter is basically their chef. No wonder they take a lifetime to cook your food. Eat at your own risk. Eat here only if you have lots of time and money. As this place would both waste your precious time and money. I would rather eat at a five star restaurant with staff that take care of you and a place that actually has air con. $15 for 2 mineral waters , 1 lime juice and 2 plates of peanuts. And the mineral waters weren't even a big brand. Useless place to eat and to think they actually dared to say they charge that much only because their food is "extra fresh". This would be the first and the last time I would ever eat at this place.
I will never go back and urge none of you will Too.
