They don't seem to care enough about customer retention for me to give them my hard-earned money. Food is mediocre and they skimp on ingredients (e.g. my shrimp & grits had exactly 4 pieces of shrimp buried under plenty of grits), noise level is ABSURD (crowd tends to skew towards college-aged kids, and the bottomless mimosas don't help, but Silo also turns up the music in an apparent attempt to drown out the noise, turning every conversation into a shouting match. If you want a disco with bad food, this is definitely your place!), and the staff is perpetually over-extended and unfriendly. We last tried this place just yesterday, but didn't even get to order, because a snarky remark from the waitress made me basically put my coat back on and walk out. We waited a few good minutes after being seated at the bar (all the tables were full with what looked like college kids or younger) until she finally came around, and, without saying anything, slapped 2 menus in front of us. I asked if it was always this noisy (a normal question - we could have returned at a later time or on a different day if she had said some days/times are noisier) and I guess she took it as a personal insult, because she went "well, there are a lot of people in here, so if you put two and two together instead of having an attitude..." and then walked away. I looked at my husband, he seemed as perplexed as I was, and we decided to leave. When she came back, she asked if we weren't going to order. Uhm...we're putting our clothes back on! If you put two and two together, you'll figure it out. I just politely, but coldly responded that yes, we were leaving. Advice to the managers: train your staff, hire more of them, and lower the music levels. Or just change your business name to "disco with food", instead of "restaurant". To the waitress: learn some customer service skills. I didn't make you take a service job. We had brunch instead at the Ottoman Taverna, not far, where there were two equally full long tables, and several others with families (including small children), but the sound level was that of normal, polite conversation, and the music was barely perceptible - so no, crowded restaurants do NOT have to be loud. But apparently the folks at Silo aren't familiar with that notion.
