Omakase
Co-owned by Saint Pierre next door, this michelin restaurant doesn’t have the Fullerton view but rather, the typical michelin japanese setup There are 2 menus, and the more expensive one has the chef’s special - monkfish liver and abalone. If you don’t fancy these, better off just getting the regular menu Everything else was also very good to excellent - sashimi, sushi, steamed dishes, dessert The japanese chef doesn’t speak much due to language and the maitre’d or manager Dezmon makes up for it with his interaction Rather pricey at $680++ per pax
Be the first to ReplyFalling in love for soft, melting sashimi on my sushi
I don't usually eat sashimi cause I just don't like them BUT with shoukouwa, each fillet was so soft that it almost melt in your mouth with the sushi soft rice, it's something I hands down cannot resist! Terrific soy and I wished I did request for more wasabi on my sushi as I can take really spicy food. Real wasabi once again its' spicy level is just like a hinge of ginger kind. I love the little yuzu, lime, salt element in different sushi which blend well with my yuzu wine since I wasn't in a mood for beer. No doubt you should try beer with your sushi as it brings out better flavors. I ll be back for the shirako and abalone next time!
Be the first to ReplyWOW! This is the best (and most expensive) Japanese meal I've had
Went here for my birthday. What a treat. Only 6 guests and the chef and his assistant preparing some spectacular food! I have the beautifully printed menu, so I can list every dish we had, but I'll spare you! To summarize, my highlight was the smoked young tuna with seaweed sauce! (smoked over a charcoal fire in front of you) Another first for me was an unexpected dish of blowfish milt with uni! The cherry on the top was a beautiful (FOC) birthday cake that was served with dessert. The server explained every dish as we received it with an ipad, so we could see the various fish. Exceptional attention to detail!

Second time here.
Definitely one of the better sushi restaurants out there, but this visit was less impressive. Didn’t leave any impression after.
Service is terrible.
From front desk all the way to departure after meal, it was sorely lacking.
Reception- wasn’t trained well. No welcome greeting. Unacceptable for such a fine dining restaurant.
Wait staff- uncertain about food, couldn’t describe it well. Didn’t handle our wines well, no offer to decant and poured right to end. Left with sediments between my teeth..
Chef- we sat in the smaller private dining too
. Both visits, I was allocated a seat here. This chef is really unfriendly with a sour look on his face. Made us feel completely unwelcomed and inferior to him. He had an arrogance and snobbishness to his actions and mannerisms. Very quick to serve dinner and kept everything quickly once done. Didn’t even wait to say goodnight or goodbye.
(Come to think of it, no one sent us out. Once we paid the bill, no one was to be seen.)
Honestly, for the price we are paying, this meal is unreasonable and easily forgettable.
Better off at Masaaki, Ishi, Shinji, Oshino or any smaller more cozy, specialised sushi restaurant.
At least the whole experience is worth the effort.
Deserving of its reputation
Amazing experience! Chef was creative with the ingredients and the staff were also very personable and showed great hospitality. One of the few Michelin starred places I would go back again!
Be the first to ReplyBest Omakase Singapore
Been to so many Omakase in Singapore, but this is hands-down the best, no wonder it is awarded 2 MICHELIN stars. The sushi is freshest I ever tasted!! Very good service 👌 I'm amazed at every dish, every dish is dancing in my mouth.. !! Can't wait to go back
Be the first to ReplyCozy Japanese restaurant awesome quality of food
Cozy Japanese restaurant with 8 seats. Very authentic Japanese tastes, seafood freshly flown in from japan daily. Chef’s preparation of food was like a performance. Highly recommend to visit for special occasions
Be the first to ReplyVery authentic sushi with excellent fish
When Shoukouwa re-opened after Circuit Breaker, they switched to fewer seats but 3 seatings per night instead of 2. The service is excellent but food is served faster than before. Their supply has also been affected so there seems to be fewer varieties of fish from Japan. One major draw is the willingness of the restaurant to let you select a full sized sake bottle but only buy half or even a quarter of it.
Be the first to ReplyExquisite Cuisine, Great Service & Cosy Atomspehere .... Find It At Shoukouwa!
If there is a sushi restaurant which you must try in Singapore, look no further than Shoukouwa. You will experience the traditional Japanese level of service, exquisite and delectable sushi cuisine coupled with top-notch friendly team who takes care of all your needs.
We are delighted to have this opportunity to have the dinner omakase set, Hana, last night and it was indeed an perspective changing experience. Lots of avid food critics share about genuinely good Japanese food only in Japan ... after a visit to Shoukouwa ... you know this is definitely not true.
A place not to be missed for travellers, food critics and anybody celebrating a special occasion.
We cannot wait to be back ... See you soon.
An Evening to Remember
Amazing experience, wonderful food prepared with skill and obvious knowledge of super fresh ingredients, well measured friendly and helpful service, really something to remember.
Sushi
Sushi that melts in your mouth. That is what i remember from my meal. Just delicious. Very friendly chefs and serving staff. Small cosy place. A bit expensive but thats what you pay for the high quality seafood that gets flown in each day. Frankly thats better than some high priced places where you leave wondering what warrants the high prices. All in all excellant and memorable sushi in Singapore where this kind of highest quality raw seafood in the hot tropics is unusual.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service!
We had the premium Hana Omakase - the starters and cooked dishes were excellent but the sushi dishes didn't impress at all considering that Shoukouwa has 2 Michelin stars. Overall it was still a good meal but at such premium prices we had expected Shoukouwa to be excellent on ALL accounts with the WOW factor but it didn't meet up..
