Shitennoji Hayauchi Osaka Reviews from The Last Year
Authentic
It is one of the oldest temples in Japan, dating from the 6th century. Destroyed several times, it has always been rebuilt in the same style.
♪This is the stone torii gate of Tennoji, the first Buddhist gate. Please stop by and worship ♪ (Noh song “Yoboshi”)
On the 21st of the equinox, I stopped by Shitennoji Temple, where the Daishi-e (Kobo Daishi Memorial Day) is held. I wanted to see the layout of the Shitennoji style temple and the ``Stone Torii'' from the Noh song ``Yoboshi''. Unfortunately, it was cloudy so I couldn't see the setting sun. Nissokan is March 20th. I stayed at the nearby Smile Hotel Tennoji on its opening day on March 20th and the following day on the 21st.
Worth A Visit
This location is about 15 minutes from the nearest Metro station but as Temples go is worth a visit. It's in very good condition for its age - it could have been built last year - and the grounds are peaceful and serene. Allow about half an hour. Last entries are around 3.30pm
For better or worse, it's full of Osaka vibes.
This is a historic temple built by Prince Shotoku, and the vast grounds are well worth seeing, with halls scattered all over! However, the grounds are so vast that there are rows of stalls, creating a solemn atmosphere, making it unsuitable for those who want to worship quietly. There are also many Buddha statues that place emphasis on shining, and unfortunately the atmosphere is quite different from the elation and nostalgia you get after visiting temples and shrines in Kyoto and Nara.
A Buddhist temple full of life
It was a very lively temple. You can see Abeno Harukas from the temple grounds, and it's an area where old and new are mixed together. There are plenty of things to see, such as the torii gate that leads to the Western Pure Land and the disciplined five-story pagoda. There are many worshippers of all ages and genders, including foreign tourists, coming and going. There are also scenes of local people just taking a stroll. It's a wonderful temple full of a sense of life.
Excellent relaxing and spiritual visit
Truly beautiful and perfectly maintained temple. You can freely visit the entire structure. It is possible to climb the central tower without shoes. It is possible to participate in prayers.
Worth a visit
The outer temple grounds can be visited for free but you have to pay a small fee if you want to visit the pagoda or the gardens. There are lots of vending machines and toilets on the vast temple grounds. At the time I visited there was a ceremony with chanting taking place which was quite fascinating. I loved the smell of incense which was omnipresent on the grounds.
Relaxing trip
A quiet place in the bustling city, with few tourists, mostly believers who come to worship. This is the earliest Japanese Buddhist temple established by Prince Shotoku, and it is also the oldest official temple in Japan. If time permits, it is worth a visit.
A highlight in Osaka
A highlight in Osaka, and one of the best visits of our trip. We used our Osaka Amazing Pass for entry to the internal complex and the gardens. Although entry price is reasonable if buying. The gardens were one of the best of the trip - we arrived quite early and we were the only visitors so it was very peaceful. The Temple was very impressive. You were able to climb inside of the pagoda - this was the only time visiting Japan we had this chance. Compared to Temples in Kyoto and Tokyo, it was very quiet and you could take it all in a little bit more here. Really was very peaceful and beautiful. Worth a visit. Only a short walk from the metro station. Toilets and vending machines available here.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
