Disappointing!
Yet another disappointing visit to a Michelin starred restaurant. Talented sushi chef. However the restaurant lacks in atmosphere. There is no sake tasting option - only two sakes are offered by glass. Also surprising that a 1-star Michelin restaurant serves salmon sushi! Will not go back.
Chaotic and unsettling
For being a 1 star Michelin Restaurant we expected more from Sushi Shin. The food was excellent, but the ambiance and the service was that of a take-out sushi parlor. An overly eager hostess disturbed our dinner with small talk and personal complaints, and opted to sit at the sushi bar surfing and reading during our entire dinner (there were no other guests..) Dinner started late as the previous guests were not ready when our reservation was up. The whole experience was a bit chaotic and unsettling. Too bad, the food had deserved better.
A real experience - worth a trip!
Clearly, from judging by other reviews, you either like the Sushi Shin experience or you don't. We did! And how! The food is of excellent quality, the hostess is charming, smart and has a real passion for food. I believe Zurich is priviliged to have such a good Japanese restaurant. Sure, it is expensive. I agree, it is not your average weekday dinner. But if you have something to celebrate or if you would like to culinarily take a trip to Japan, go there and enjoy.! The whole experience is exquisite - away from "fast" everything and instead into sophisticated enjoyment of quality: a fantastic meal prepared with much attention to detail. Very happy!
As usual at the top
I have been several times at Sushi Shin, and I was never disappointed. The omakase diner is always superb and includes a variety of hot and cold dishes, including some sushis. The ingredients are top notch, and believe me, I know how difficult it is to source these in Europe. The quality is simply at par with what one can find in the best places in Japan. The sake list is not extensive, but include some of the best jewels from Japan - some also by the glass. Mata kimasu! ("I will be back!")

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
