Saltie Girl Boston Reviews from The Last Year
This is definitely one of those places you need to visit
This is definitely one of those places you need to visit when in town. It's the best lunch break after shopping on Newbury Street! The seafood tasted FRESH! Everyone was so happy with the meal! Our server was awesome and he was able to find the Saltie Girl hat in the back! I was so excited to buy one! Also, the overall decor and vibe is great! Mermaids everywhere!
Rounded down from 3 1/2 * Whelp, this was a strange one.
The food was 5-star excellent and predictably expensive. No argument there. But we had an absurdly snarky server. From the moment we sat down, there was confusion about the water. "Filtered tap water?", he asked. "It comes out of a tap." Well, ok. We sat unattended for about 15 minutes until we were able to order drinks. Then we asked if we could get an order of potato chips with our drinks, assuming they were house-made; after all, it's a classy joint. So, potato chips in a bag were brought out in a bowl. Umm. Just know that when your entree comes with chips, they're out of a bag. Then, there are two lobster dishes on the menu: lobster roll and lobster with frites. Both are MP, so we asked how much the lobster was? With disdain, he asked "which one?" I guess lobster roll=lobster in his mind. We had about 3 rounds on that one. Finally, I wanted a glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my 2nd drink but there are 2 on the menu. So my husband requested a taste of one of them for me. An entire glass appeared some time later. I asked which one this was, and the server answered, without irony, "The one you asked for." There's more but you get the picture. In confusion, Dance/10; Looks/3
Hella good with great vibes and service.
Drinks are original and definitely get reservations because it's popular. Would go again
Adorable place to grab a quick bite.
Not the most inexpensive place, but fun with good food.

Saltine Girl is seafood in the most elevated way! You come to Boston, you have to order a lobster roll, right?! So I did. I was asked "hot or cold" which I've never ever been asked before... so asked back "what do YOU recommend?" Warm butter, warm lobster roll. So I did. WOWWWWWW. That was one of my Too Ten best foods I've ever eaten. Thank you Saltie Girl!!! The Saltie Girl equivalent to "chips and salsa" is cashews and Castelvetrano olives. Wow! Yes! The menu is pricey. But you will get the crème de la crème elevated seafood experience! In addition to my entree, I wanted to try a few things off their cold bar menu. There's no minimums! I ordered one of each: oysters, jumbo shrimp, stone crab claw. Impeccable seafood! There's a 4 seat spot at the oyster shuck station- try to sit there! This is the perfect place to go after shopping on Newbury Street all day
Really elegant establishment focusing on seafood.
The tinned fish (they have many varieties in a specific menu, almost like a wine list but instead of wine, focused on tinned fish) was nice and delicate, accompanied with some bread slices and unique salts. The sesame-covered rice paper wrapped around king crab was also absolutely gorgeous, very balanced flavors. (The dipping sauce was a bit salty.) The king crab was very fresh, and overall it made for a very good small plate. The lobster bucatini was delicious, though with less complexity of flavor. I would have rather had another pasta shape (maybe a linguini would have been okay). At these rates they probably should have used a fresh pasta (not necessarily homemade). Prices are out of this world, but everything was really nice, and it's nice to have a real treat here. Service was very good!
Came here for Mother's Day with our family of 10.
Our server was excellent and helped us in every way possible. Food was good. We really enjoyed the aged beef carpaccio. You could really taste the aged flavor of the beef come through. I also had their burger. Burger was cooked perfectly to a med-rare. I liked it but it had a lot going on like a piece of fried lobster, pork belly, etc. I prefer a perfect burger where you could taste the meat. All in all, great place for a dinner and drinks with family and friends.
This restaurant is amazing! The food is top notch.
Fresh, delicately flavored, wide variety. We enjoyed the warm king crab rolls, tuna sashimi (unusual topping of pistachios and the usual, but outstanding capers and onions), crab toast (delicious and very generous portions), lobster bolognese (rich) and even a good burger (ordered by one of the less adventurous in our group). The cocktails were creative especially the Grapefruit. Do not forget to order the bread. Toasted, buttery, fresh. Edward was an awesome waiter. Attentive, competent and fun. Several rooms that seem to have different styles and although we didn't drink in the bar, it looked interesting. We ate here twice in five days. Yum and fun! We will be back!! Thank you Saltie Girl!
Looked super cute and saw great reviews so decided to stop
Looked super cute and saw great reviews so decided to stop in for appetizers and some cocktails. We were told we could sit in the bar but the only seating was at tables around the bar top. Asked about the wait and were told tables were only for entree service. Unfortunately we decided to leave since we only wanted appetizers and cocktails. This place lost business to paying customers due to an unwillingness to seat us in the bar at open tables (approximately four). We spent our money somewhere else, and had two cocktails each and a few appetizers before continuing the shopping on Newbury Street.
Get the scallop crudo.
Get the lobster roll. The service is impeccable and the ambiance is like being in the finished basement of your uber rich uncle.
Went to Saltie Girl with a group when we were in town last
Went to Saltie Girl with a group when we were in town last week. I thought it was really solid. For starters we ordered the Calamari, sardines, and assorted east coast oysters which were amazing. They don't provide horseradish standard but they did have some when I asked. The calamari was ok and sardines were solid. For my main I had the Lobster Fritte which was good and is quite large. I really was craving mussels but they only had items from the brunch menu which was disappointing. The restaurant itself is very nice and upbeat and service was good overall as well.
Came here for dinner tonight and overall it was really good.
I had the "Pineapple" cocktail to start with and it was very thirst quenching actually. I don't like drinks that have added sugar or simple syrup so the pineapple gave it a good amount of natural sweetness. The green tea mocktail was also delish. For appetizers we had the Saltie Girl Chowder and the Hamachi. The chowder came out piping hot and the smoky bacon flavor was really nice. It was good to start with because it was a bit chilly outside. The Hamachi appetizer was so pretty, we really didn't want to touch it. Flavor wise, the flavors were subtle but fresh. The halibut dish was superb and the mussles frites was sublime. However, we had to return a lobster roll because the lobster was super chewy. A miss on the server for taking 10 minutes for a second drink to arrive and for forgetting to remove the lobster roll from the bill.
One of the best lobster rolls we ever had! I wish we took
One of the best lobster rolls we ever had! I wish we took pictures but between the food and drinks everything was fantastic! We traveled in town for a concert and were told about their fun food (also did not disappoint) our bartender was super knowledgeable and made the best drinks! Everything was fairly priced and the bar was the best place to sit in such a busy restaurant. We only waited about 40-45 minutes but again, I would highly recommend!
Food was delicious.
Definitely pricey but I thought it was worth it. I got the clam vongole (pasta). We also got the tinned salmon to start and both were tasty. Great for a girls night out or date night. There is both table and bar seating. I would recommend making a reservation because it can get busy in the evening.

Loved the food here, the lobster roll was super buttery and as a butter fan myself it was a dream. The truffle fries were great as-well. Server was attentive and gave us lots of time to order Ambience was nice, however chairs were very high. I understand this restaurant was in a wealthy area, however I think the prices should be on all items as we did have to ask the price of a few things. Lastly, I did not like the added kitchen appreciation on the bill at the end.

Great food, service and ambience during our visit for the Boston marathon. Highly recommend!
Good lobster roll but hold the vinegar
We had the cold style lobster roll and while pricey, it was really good. Nice, chunky bits in the lobster roll. The meat had a nice sweet quality that's indicative of lobster from Cape Cod. The bread was properly buttered and grilled. The only downside was they splashed vinegar in the lobster. It must be an acquired taste but not something I loved. Also the fries were overcooked and just not tasty.

Located on Newbury st, where Parking can be hard to find
Located on Newbury st, where Parking can be hard to find but once you get inside, it's definitely aesthetically pleasing. There's a lot of pink in the walls. The oysters we ordered are very fresh and they come in different types. The brunch menu was pretty good but interesting combo on the snow crab toast as it's a little bland, but the pistachios make up for the saltiness. The egg Benedict with salmon had a nice creamy fresh blend together. Although if you come in first thing when it opens, there's a lot of servers on shift that just stand around and it's kind of uncomfortable just them seemingly watch everyone? Their service was fine, the bare minimum. I know this place gets pretty busy during the day so reservations are recommended.
Lobster roll 9.
74/10- I think this was my favorite lobster roll out of the three I tried in Boston. This lobster roll was actually incredible. They have two options- hot or cold, and I went with the warm option. There were so many big chunks of lobster and you would get a lot within every bite. The lobster itself was so fresh and didn't taste too fishy which I loved. They put a lot of warm butter in it also which made this such a comforting meal and it was absolutely delicious. The brioche bun itself was so good- and I loved how it had a hint of sweetness. They also give you a bag of their salt and vinegar chips which is such a great complement to the lobster. Branzino 8.86/10- I loved this spread!! Saltie girl has a huge selection of different tinned fishes so we decided to try the branzino and it was so fresh, and in olive oil. I loved their spread- they gave bread, peppers, a red pepper harissa sauce, and then salt/peppers.
I might have gone here 3 times in 3 days.
I'd recommend the downstairs bar for any solo travelers who don't want to make a reservation. The bar is beautiful, but you're going for the lobster roll. It was perfectly warm and buttery, and the salt and vinegar chips paired perfectly with it. I couldn't order anything else! Beware if you have a big appetite it may not be enough but there are many other delectable bites to tempt you on the menu!
Great restaurant, great seafood menu, lovely staff and atmosphere
Went here the other night as we specifically wanted seafood and had heard very positive things about this restaurant. The food did not disappoint! We had 7 oysters in total which were a generous size and very delicious. There were several options of oysters and they came with hot sauce, cocktail sauce and vinegar. Very delicious !!!! For mains we both have mussels and Parmesan fries. The mussels were delicious with a lovely sauce. The fries were also cooked to perfection and certainly far from boring !!! Would definitely come back here again! The restaurant was packed for a Monday night and the staff were great! We have Marcus serving us who was lovely
No dice and never again!
I have really liked this restaurant in the past. Ate at the bar as a solo diner. Food and drink good, but the bartender charged me incorrectly- less than what I owed. I was happy to make an adjustment but they insisted on charging and recharging my card. This was their error- not mine. I would have expected some type of apology or even a dessert to say, we are sorry. No dice and never again!
Reputation might be better than the actual experience …
Overrated….overpriced…..very average portions/quality and service ……was very disappointed in our experience ….sorry
Fantastic Lunch spot !
One of our best experiences in Boston - the food was ridiculously good - the soup, the lobster roll and the fish and chips! The fish and chips were probably the best we ever had? Well executed and nicely presented - this seems like a simple dish but many places don’t know how to make it. The fish was lightly battered and fried to perfection. Tasty thick French fries that went well with the fish! The clam chowder was also the best we had in Boston. The lobster roll was great too. If we come back to Boston - we’d order the same items again.
Pricey but worth it
The food here was fantastic. On the pricier side but not bank breaking and worth the money. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the dish overall was wonderful. All of the cocktails me and my fiancé sampled tasted great and he enjoyed his main (saltie girl burger). Puddings to top it off were also very nice quality. The restaurant itself has a nice quiet ambience which we enjoyed.
Once in Saltie Girl, you'd better look out your credit card bill
Went there for a family dinner on late July. The $ 170,00 bill had been regularly charged to my credit card, and so was paid. Since the service was terrible, there was no tipping at all. But almost 2 months later, I was surprised with a $ 30 debt from Saltie Girl. No big math necessary to equal the abusive charge to the undeserved and unconsented tip (18%). Shame on you, guys.
Good, but not amazing. Expected more.
It was good, just not amazing. We had 8 oysters for our starter. I recommend the East Coast oysters. For my entree I had the Moules Frites….they were kind of bland and nothing special compared with the Mules I’ve eaten at other restaurants. My husband ordered the flounder and he enjoyed it a lot. Our entrees didn’t come out at the same time and my Moule was getting cold while we waited 10 minutes for his flounder to come. Better timing from the kitchen would be nice considering our bill was over $140 for two and I expect better from a restaurant.
Delicious! It is worth it!
Delicious restaurant! I ordered the lobster roll, very tasty! I loved! Good and fast service, but I suggest booking, it gets very busy on the weekend!
They hate customers

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
