I've been put on a mission from my boyfriend to find him a good steak sandwich for his birthday. Not a Philly, but a real steak sandwich. I went online and looked all over and finally found that Ruth's has an AMAZING sandwich that they ONLY sell during happy hour. I'm excited so I make a reservation for a couple weeks out on his birthday weekend to ensure we are there in the two hour window that they serve this dish. I make an account, put in all my info, choose the time, put it in our calendar, get the confirmation emails and texts, the works. Then I realized, it said online you can order from the dining room in the bar, but not the other way around, but surly that was just an odd turn of phrase, right? Why would they allow people from the bar to order anything but people in the dining room be limited? So I go online and find nothing about it, so I find their number and call, just in case, and the phone is answered by someone who already sounds fed up, like absolutely no enthusiasm or service provided. I've worked service jobs so I get it, and I just try to move on and I explain my situation and ask if you can order from the happy hour menu in the dining room. His answer? a sarcastic "not if you want the sandwich," I am more annoyed, but not completely deterred (yet) and ask, since I made a reservation weeks out, if they know if the bar typically has open seats during that time. He tells me that there is absolutely no way of knowing what events might be happening, or what weather they might have and that it could be dead or we might not get a seat. Finally I just straight up ask "should I just cancel my reservation and find a back up then?" And he just says "yeah." So that's what I'm doing, if you're looking for a review on the food you'll have to look elsewhere because the service was so bad we didn't make it through the door. Also, I'm sure it's not enforced, since paying customers aren't usually middle school children but the dress code is absolutely archaic. All in alll 0/10.

Thank you Shaun and everyone for an absolutely amazing first experience. The porterhouse for two was cooked to perfection. The service was top notch above many other places these days. Pretty sure that was the best crème brûlée we've ever had too so high compliment to the chefs here are well deserved too. We look forward to coming again.

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious filet mignon dinner for our anniversary last week. We took advantage of valet parking, which at $15 was worth the convenience of not having to search for street or garage parking and walking to the restaurant in the unpredictable March weather. Everyone from the hostess, to the steward, and our waiter Raul wished us a happy anniversary and the service was top-notch. The crab stuffed mushrooms , salad, steaks, asparagus, and garlic mashed potatoes were cooked to perfection, and the complimentary dessert was a nice finish to a terrific meal. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and provided a wonderful dining experience.

I can't believe I haven't written a review of all the times I've been here. I love their regular menu but also their bar menu. Whenever I'm craving a quality cheeseburger, I switch between Ruth's Chris and Ringside. The service is always impeccable and the food never misses. My go to orders, besides the filet and spicy shrimp is the cheeseburger or steak sandwich! They also make a mean old fashioned. I have never had a bad experience here and I've been coming here for years! 10/10 highly recommend

Sarah and Bernie were so good to us! Lobster Mac and cheese is to die for. Mashed potatoes are outstanding. Filet was the best steak I've had in years! Cheesecake is phenomenal! Service is beyond 10 stars. Love it.

You cant go wrong with Ruth's Chris, even in Portland! Nice location with a great bar that overlooks the street, so good for people watching. You know all the classic here and the service was great! When you want a great steak and martini, this is the place to go.

I have eaten at five separate locations and never a single problem with this upscale restaurant.
A Disappointing Dining Experience
If not for the good service & fine cocktails, I would have given RC just 2 stars. I ate at RC many years ago before Darden bought the chain & had a good meal & an excellent steak. Last night the universal sentiment among 5 diners was “meh” - at best. My lobster tail was overcooked, as was my filet. I ordered medium rare & it was far closer to medium. The accompanying garlic mashed potatoes arrived lukewarm with an over-processed texture that suggested mass production. The Caesar salad that preceded my entree suffered from too much dressing, too few minuscule croutons, and the weirdly uniform chop of the lettuce again suggested mass production. Given that prices rival the longtime local competitor famous for the best onion rings in town, we were all left wishing we had gone there instead. Two of our group ordered the lobster bisque and it was so overcooked, with an off putting strange aftertaste, that they could not eat it. Darden has taken a once proud franchise & put their food on par with the very pedestrian Olive Garden…albeit at much higher prices.
Perfect steak
Very good to visit a Ruth’s Chris again after a few years. The 11oz filet steak was a must for my husband while I enjoyed the 8oz petit filet. We added roasted Brussels sprouts, asparagus and garlic mash for a perfect dinner. As always, a wide selection of wines to choose from. No room for dessert but we enjoyed espresso martinis to finish a lovely evening.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
