Don't come for early breakfast.
The posting says Roula's opens at 6:30 AM. After an early morning airport run, we searched for a unique breakfast place. We love Greek food. The reviews mentioned the cafe is located in a downtown federal building. Parking before 8 am costs $8. Street parking is not available until 8 am. We walked to the locked building. The guard, Doug Conrad, told us Roula does not ARRIVE until 7:30 or maybe 8 AM. We rushed back to our auto, and departed before we were charged $8. We'll just eat at home.
Be the first to ReplyGreek-xican burrito was delicious.
Small portions on the marinaded pork. Adorable mom and son shop. A little hard to find.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a crazy location for such a great cafe.
After going through the TSA style bag exam to enter the court house, your stomach expects the standard warmed over gas station quality food. Thankfully the flashbacks of airport food gone wrong we're shattered. The highlight is the Chicken Souvlaki. That is simply fantastic. Thy serve it with good quality Pita and a single skewer is enough for a light lunch with the salad and rice they serve it with. I was aiming for a low carb meal so I asked for more salad in place of rice and they gladly accommodated me. If you're hungrier you'll definitely want the extra skewer. Cheap, delicious, and they gave me a free cookie because it was Friday. What more could you want?
Be the first to ReplyI have used them multiple times for catering/take out.
They're amazing and go above and beyond to help you. You can tell the level of quality service by the supplies they ice you. They provide you with everything you need to serve your food, even things you may not have thought of beforehand. As a bonus, the food always gets superior reviews from the groups that I eat with. I haven't heard of one bad review from the people I deal with on a personal level.

Be the first to ReplyRoula's cafe is quietly located in the federal building.
Beware of the feisty breakfast because it's so good. I think they refer to it as the grexican - burrito with gyro meat. Their tzatziki cucumber sauce is my go to sauce for the burrito because it's so refreshing. I've never tried their lunch option and would love to have more time in the office to try it out.

Hey you, if you love delicious fresh breakfast foods you're gonna want to read this review. Flying out of SLC early and we were craving a fresh local breakfast. Microwaved powdered hotel "eggs", bacon grease bombs or waiting for the crusty hotel waffle maker all sounded dismal so we did what any other smart tourists would do - we googled it. This fine establishment came up second (the first was a pizza place which we still don't understand) so that was enough for us, No Yelp reviews necessary. Navigating to Roula's may throw you off as others have pointed out it's on the first floor of the courthouse. Fear not as there are lots of parking meters right on the street! These meters are $.25c per seven minutes so be prepared with plenty of change. Walking into the courthouse you will be greeted by the nicest pat-down security staff you've ever met. Sure they frisked me but after I shook off the rubber glove residue I knew this would be the safest breakfast I've ever consumed. Walk past the old local antiques display case (save if for later) and make your way towards the cafe. Now after you walk through the door the large modern decorated room looks a bit stale but don't worry you're in the right place - there's a secret kitchen hidden on the left side of the enormous glass wall. Turn the corner and be prepared for the best breakfast any Utah courthouse has to offer. Their colorful Greek-inspired menu hangs from above, but be warned descriptions are basic. For example one option is "omelet", another is "burrito." Behind the cash register stands the sweetest elderly grandma in Utah. I felt as if my own Yaya was answering my detailed questions such as Do you have bacon? Or how much is coffee? Warning: there is a slight language barrier so fewer words will go a long way. In the end I got a veggie scramble with jalapeño and bacon. Sure the menu said 6.99 and mine was 9.78 but minor details really. We got there around 9:15AM and must have beat the downtown rush because there wasn't a soul in the entire dining room. Whether or not this had anything to do with food quality was TBD. On a positive note there was no wait for a table. After about ten minutes our food was delivered by a kind Latino man who happily grabbed the Choloua for our table. The presentation was spectacular for what I expected, a fresh serving of eggs gently piled high on top a square white plate you only find in high end dining facilities (see attached photo.) The other people I was eating with food also looked absolutely delicious- two eggs perfect over medium ontop crispy hash browns and a bacon breakfast burrito served along salsa and sour cream. Another person in my group made a hasty choice at checkout and settled for a plain bagel wrapped in cellophane. This was a huge mistake, as I watched her bite into the cold soggy bread I could feel her envy our meals - meals that could only be described as Devine. What I'm trying to say here is if you want a wonderful breakfast experience then Roula's is the place for you. Why? Grandma Roula that's why. She puts that love into every bite. I will definitely probably be back!P.s. Every Friday is Free Cookie Friday a free cookie with every purchase. I forgot to grab mine after so don't make the same error I did!P.p.s. Also don't forget to check out the local antiques on the way out!

This was weirdly inside a federal building where you had to get through tough security and go through a medal detector. Pretty good food once you got inside. Seating is in a weird all-white room. Take out is the way to go if you're downtown.
Be the first to ReplyRoula's is located inside the courthouse.
Which not only made it difficult to find, it means that you have to empty your pockets, take off you belt and watch, and go through a metal detector before being able to get to the restaurant, which looks more like the courthouse cafeteria than a restaurant. So, is the hassle worth it? Yes! (at least for breakfast)Their breakfast burrito, which is a favorite, according to the guy taking the order, is a delicious mix of hash browns, egg, seasoned meat, cheese (it comes with jalapeños, but I asked for it without them). It sounds like a simple enough dish, but was really good! Not only was it good, it was large as well. You certainly get your money's worth. If the rest of the food is as good as that breakfast burrito, then this place is a winner. Its certainly a shame they don't have a location that is easier to find and access.

Walk into the big shiny building. This is a super clean and modern courthouse with a Greek gem on the bottom level. We were greeted with friendly service and recommendations of their most popular items. My friend and I both got the chicken souvlaki. I told them I don't like salad and they kindly subbed the salad for tomato basil soup which was delicious. The chicken was well seasoned and not too dry and went well with the tzatziki sauce. It would have been nice to have hummus to go with the warm toasty pita bread. The space was open and cozy at the same time. We felt no pressure to leave in a hurry. Fun to look at what hearings were happening that day too!
