NOT for Vegans
For a restaurant of this supposed caliber, the experience was embarrassingly poor. The staff contradicted themselves on something as basic as which breads were vegan, and the same muddle applied to the dishes. Precision is not optional at these prices. The two vegan mains on offer were uninspired and forgettable. Service was equally lackluster - having to request water three times is simply unacceptable, especially when the dining room had just opened at 6:30 and was scarcely populated. The vegetarians at our table fared better, though even they remarked on the inattentiveness. When a restaurant trades on its reputation but cannot deliver consistency, clarity, or even competent service, the result is a sad, hollow evening.
Outstanding! Service, quality, food!
Arrived a bit early and they graciously found us a place at the bar for drinks. Great customer service, let us know table was ready and sat in very nice, quiet area of restaurant. Food was wonderful, had the tamales, sea bass and linguine. All were delicious. Service could not have been better, never felt rushed, it was timely and a great experience. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Food delicious but service dropped the ball
We just returned from our 20th anniversary celebration dinner at Rosetta. It started off delightful, with an amazing cocktail upstairs and attentive service. When we got to our table, our server was friendly and offered excellent recommendations. We really enjoyed the scallops and then the entree tamale he suggested. The sauce on the tamale was so good that we were dipping the house bread in it. This is where things took a turn. Midway through a bite, I encountered a hair- I didn’t know whether to spit it out or pull it. It was like floss through my teeth and was ant least a few inches long. It was extremely off putting. When I let my server know, he was apologetic and took my plate to the kitchen. When he returned, he told me that it wasn’t an actual hair, but corn silk. He made me feel really ignorant and like I was trying to pull something and that I’d never heard of corn silk before.. No one else came to the table to follow up and there was no offer to replace my almost untouched tamale that he’d removed with the hair. Server was less friendly afterwards and acted awkward and cold. It totally ruined the vibe of our celebratory dinner. I’ve had extensive restaurant service experience and I feel like they dropped the ball in turning around our negative situation. Yes, they brought out a complimentary dessert as well as an anniversary dish with a candle, but the warmth was absent and the gesture felt like a bandaid when we weren’t looking for a freebie. Honestly, our expectations were higher for a #46 restaurant with a Michelin star. The food can be amazing but if the service staff don’t handle the moments of truth well, it can sour the experience. A bit of sincerity and empathy can go a long way.
A rushed disappointment
We loved the interior of the restaurant especially in the bar upstairs where we started our experience. We ordered 3 courses to share and the food was original and well prepared and beautifully plated and delish. Here comes the problem. We read that the service is rushed in other reviews, so specifically asked for 10-15 mins between courses. We sat down at 8 and we were finished by 9.10… not a Michelin experience . I think the judges of Top 100 restaurants, would be horrified. The essence of a good meal is to spend time enjoying the food, the aftertaste and the time to discuss… we never had that and that is a pity.
I showed up early and was sat immediately. The greeting was warm and service was prompt but not pushy.
I’m not sure what everyone in the reviews is whining about; I had a phenomenal experience! The service was impeccable: Tony gave me space and was there when I needed him for a suggestion or a refill. The food was outstanding as well. Again, what’s to complain about when you get to enjoy a 6 course, Michelin Star meal with 2 drinks for about $100USD?!?
Overrated but fine
We were really looking forward to our dinner after rave reviews from friends and critics, but I think there are many better choices in Mexico City. The atmosphere is gorgeous, especially the front "parrot" room that we were seated in. That is 5 stars. The bread (especially foccacia) was fantastic -- I asked for seconds! The food ranged from quite good (the tamale) to average (white mole) to mediocre (all of the main courses.) The service was professional and kind. Coming from San Francisco, this felt like it could have been any other pretty good restaurant, so having only 3 nights in Mexico City I wish we had gone with something that provided more of a local flair. However, I get why Rosetta gets attention for its combination of cosmopolitanism, vibey-ness, and polish. (Tip - try Maizajo instead!)

* Peter can now talk to DistinguishedTree58 for any questions Peter may have as DistinguishedTree58 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* DistinguishedTree58 now uses their connections at Rosetta Restaurante Ciudad de México to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If DistinguishedTree58 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
