A Dinner Worth Going to
This was our favorite dinner in Budapest but you need a reservation in advance. Great atmosphere and good food and fun service. All in all a terrific dinner experience.
Delicious
This restaurant was great. The food was wonderful. We didn’t book so were told we could only have our table for a limited time. However there was a cancellation upstairs so we were able to keep the table. Tried to go again later in the week but fully booked. Shame. Waiter very friendly and helpful.
A place to visit again and again
One of the best restaurants in Budapest. The food is excellent, service was amazing, and the shef reconnection menu is incredible.
Absolutely awful
By far the worst restaurant I have ever been to . The staff are the rudest people you could wish to imagine honestly if your booking from the uk don’t and if you take no notice of this review be it on your own head , Far better restaurants in Budapest including McDonalds , god please don’t go .
Excellent menu but not well executed
Rosenstein has very good reviews and an excellent looking menu with plenty of options which drew us here. However, none of the dishes ordered really were well prepared and executed. We ordered foie gras for a starter and it was thin, overcooked and not very flavorful. The veal cheek had flavor but the sauce paired with it didn’t really match well and seemed liked the porcini mushrooms were not fresh or very flavorful. The wiener schnitzel was mostly breading as the veal slice was far too thin. Service was very friendly and fun. Atmosphere is a nice casual. Can’t recommend.
Horrible experience
Absolutely awful, booked weeks ago for a birthday celebration. Food was bland and over priced and service so rude. Challenged having to pay service fee as a matter of principle but they very aggressively insisted it should be paid. Avoid it!!
Dinner at Rosenstein
Really tasty and attractively presented food - I choose the venison - and served on hot plates too. Tucked away behind the Intercity Hotel it was shame that the heavens opened just before I was due to go round, but that is not their fault. I must go again when next in Budapest. Recommended.
A WONDERFULLY CREATIVE MEAL!
We were recommended by friends to visit and boy they were right! The menu is extensive and requires plenty of time to study especially if you are not conversant with quasi Hungarian/ Jewish cooking. The restaurant was busy when we arrived and remained so all through our visit with people still arriving at ten pm, but regardless of this our waiter took time to chat and advise on various questions from the menu. We shared a very interesting egg & onion starter with lovely bread, but the main courses were both outstanding. My wife had the Lamb Knuckle on a bed of Latkes, whilst i had the Roast Venison Fillet in a forest fruit sauce with porcini rice. Sadly, we were both so full that we couldn't manage desert, which was annoying as they served some great puddings including Kaiserschmarrn. (google it!) Not sure if i will ever get back to Budapest, but be assured this will be on the top of my list for a return visit!
Characterful Jewish restaurant, well worth a visit
A long-established Jewish restaurant. Different, interesting, very enjoyable. Good food, good Hungarian wines. We had fish and noodle dishes which were excellent.
Classic Jewish-Hungarian cuisine
If you're looking for Hungarian-Jewish cuisine, make sure you add this Budapest restaurant to your bucket list. It's a couple of mins walk from the main train station. Couldn’t figure out the online reservation so walked in after lunch hour and there were ample empty tables. Loved the traditional old school decor and their menu is very extensive - a variety of Hungarian dishes and even the dessert menu is impressive. Went with the roast goose leg (apparently a classic Jewish staple) which did not disappoint. If I had more time in Budapest I’d certainly be dining here daily.
Excellent
We chose to have dinner in this restaurant because I saw it on a Sky show. The welcome and table service were perfect even if we had a bit of difficulty as we didn't speak English, but the waiter was very professional. Everything we chose was truly excellent. Reservations are mandatory because the place is always full. To reach it, just take the MM2.
Poor customer service
I wish I could give this restaurant a review based on the food, but unfortunately even though my husband made a reservation a week ago, they claimed that they didn't have it when he called to confirm. I heard my husband make the call and the person he spoke to.I called back in hopes of rectifying this, but he justhung up on me. Sounded like the same man. So disappointing 😞.
Good atmosphere with exceptionally delicious dishes.
The restaurant has a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. The main dishes were exceptionally delicious. The wine we choose was perfect. We really enjoyed our dinner. The only thing I can say is that the staff can be a bit more warm, smiling and helpful.

Not worth it!!! Find somewhere better.
Absolutely do not bother. From the minute we arrived the waiting staff could have not been more disinterested if they tried!! Asked about the wines literally reiterated what was on the menu. Served a lukewarm glass of white. Ordered some roasted catfish, it came with breadcrumbs. They took it back and eventually returned with 3 tiny bits of almost inedible fish. My son’s goose was so dry he could barely swallow it. Admittedly they offered us dessert on the house. Has crepes which were revolting so left them! Who cares if they have photos of themselves with famous people. I’m sure they were served with a smile!
Very good Hungarian restaurant. Expensive compared to the area but worth the price
We orders asparagus soup and goulash soup-excellent. Then a huge Vien schnitzel and Paprikash goulash-excellent for dessert chestnuts purree-excellent.
Another kind of food
Not realt my kind of food. Very tasty, a bit too much if you ask me. Mainly one taste. E g the aspargus soup. Just plan, White. Very intense.
Not a central place, but highly recommended
Restaurant not really within reach (40 minutes from the center on foot) but very welcoming and with highly qualified staff. We went for lunch during the week and the place was almost full. We had a fried fish together with catfish with fresh tagliatelle with ricotta. Afterwards we finished with two typical desserts: somloi galuska and flodni. Extremely good food, and a lower price than expected make this place highly recommended, despite the distance!
Highly recommended, quality, atmosphere and attention
Full satisfaction, highly recommended. They served us for dinner without a reservation, with little time left and the kitchen was already closing. They recommended dishes of roast goose and paprika beef to share, and they were right. Exquisite and to the point, at least for us, in our first Hungarian gastronomic experience. Very pleasant atmosphere, and unbeatable attention and service. With mineral water and service, €38 for two people. It's not especially cheap for Budapest, but it's worth it, for quality, location and service. Aside from the fact that in Spain the price would have been double, for this type of restaurant and dinner. We will return without hesitation. The urban environment, contrary to other opinions I have read here, I do not think is threatening, suburban or worrying, it is simply not the Center. And it is well located with respect to other points, such as Varosliget, Keleti Station, Kerepesi Cemetery, Botanical Garden, etc.

A wonderfully sophisticated place, with a wonderful atmosphere, a friendly, family-like, yet elegant feel. It is very difficult to express in words how good this place is, you must try it. When you come here, you feel that you always want to be here. You can feel that they like you here. The food was amazing, you say Gastronomic experience. Thank You.
Amazing food and experience
Absolutely one of the best meals ever. In my top 5. I made a reservation ahead of time via email for. Thursday evening in March. The three of us appreciated the waiters advice on dishes and his sense of humor. He also explained wine differences which we appreciated. We had the beef with potato croquettes, matzo ball soup, schnitzel, and beef and onions. It was all fabulous. The beef was cooked to perfection and the roasted potatoes lovely. My mom commented that she hadn’t had schnitzel that good since her mother had made it decades ago. My only critique has nothing to do with the food or meal service. When we left we asked one of the waiters if they could give me the number to a taxi service and he was not willing to do so. The lovely young girl at the bar overheard and called one for us. She was very sweet.

Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
