Central Park Views
Robert offers an oasis from the City. It is quiet and has decent views of Central Park. The food offerings are upscale and were good just not exceptional.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for food. Good live music
Fantastic place along Central Park for food. Service was great and food was delicious. If you want park views call them.
Be the first to ReplyGraduation Celebration Dinner
We enjoyed a wonderful family dinner to celebrate NYU graduation. We were two families celebrating together with our graduating young adults. It was a repeat visit for us, after a 7 year gap, and the evening was enjoyed by everyone. It was a special evening and our confidence in Robert to deliver was well met. Food - excellent, everyone enjoyed their choices. Highlights - Tuna Tartare, Asparagus, mains generally delicious. There was a special treat from the Restaurant for our two graduates. Coeliac - two guests were so well looked after and every care taken to ensure no cross contamination. They had plenty of menu choices and particularly liked the GF bread rolls. Service - it was well paced with time to enjoy each course and a flowing conversation around the table as we got to know each other. Our waiter was great and explained the various dishes, had a great sense of humour and, given the reason for the visit, congratulated the graduates on arrival. I will say that we are from the UK and the service was more akin to a european pace of service which was ideal for us. Cost - we considered the meal was excellent value for money. Venue - great to have the view of Central Park. Tables well spaced and accommodated some mobility needs for one of our party with great care.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing view and Ambience
Food was very good but perhaps not the best but overall, i would definetly go again. The music and the view make it exceptional
Be the first to ReplyReturn Visit and Still Terrific!
It's been a couple of years since our last trip to NY and Robert was on our list to revisit, a little curious about whether or not the pandemic has changed the experience -- and what a pleasant surprise to see that it has only changed it for the better! The food is still delicious (I ordered the roast chicken, knowing how tasty it was the last time, and it did not disappoint!), the ambience still great, and the service still awesome. The GM, Ana Harris, was amazing: she and her team treated us so well and made sure my family and I had the perfect lunchtime experience. Certainly one of the best meals of our week in NYC!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Meet-up Spot With Out of Town Friends
My wife loved Robert. I liked it too, but in my opinion "Bob" only deserves four stars. Very good but not great. We were warmly greeted for a weekday lunch, the four of us were seated at a prime window table. Agreed, the springtime views of Central Park and Columbus Circle are a great feature. Service was friendly and knowledgeable and avoided all manner of cloying pretentiousness. We started with a superior Champagne and continued with a decent Chardonnay. Our guests selected the beverages, so I never saw the wine list; pricing was a tad high but OK given the level of food and service offered. All four of us enjoyed the prix fix luncheon - two chickens, one salmon and one pasta. It isn't often that the sorbet outshines the other dessert on the prix fix menu, but it certainly did on this occasion. Go for the blueberry sorbet - best ever! Service ever so slightly declined once entrees were delivered and confirmed acceptable. Glassware and plates needed to be tidied up quite a bit faster. One shouldn't have to ask for coffee with dessert at a fine dining restaurant. Dessert beverages should be offered/suggested by the staff proactively and promptly. We in no way were in a hurry to depart - we had all day and enjoyed a 2:15 dining experience. We can easily recommend Robert for a special or upscale meal. As I said - very good, just not quite great.
Be the first to ReplyUnbeatable view and delicious food too
The first time we came to Robert I was slightly disappointed that we were not put next to the grand floor to ceiling windows overlooking Central Park and Columbus Circle. Our second visit, however, we were in luck and were seated much closer. The views are sweeping and stunning, and I can only imagine how lovely it would be in the autumn. I love the natural sunlight and airy atmosphere of the place, as well as the sleek design overall. The food is quite good too. I really enjoyed my salad and eggs Benedict. The prix fixe is a really good value. The banana cheesecake was excellent as well and a work of art.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful views, very good food, pretty friendly but somewhat disjointed service
Forced to eat here earlier than we ideally wanted since we were heading to the theatre and Robert's popularity meant the only option for us was a somewhat early dining time of 5pm. As a result, our party of 4 wasn't particularly hungry so the relatively small size of the plates offered was perfect for this meal, but be aware the dish sizes are not huge although, I have to say, I prefer this generally speaking. One enters the restaurant via the lobby of the museum of Arts and Design which is not immediately obvious. There are dual elevators that lead you to the 9th floor and open directly into the restaurant, where the front of house desk is immediately to one's left. I am thinking that booking is pretty essential here. We were quickly welcomed and taken to our table for 4 which was next to the window with excellent views over Central Park. We were lucky to get such a table and they are the best the restaurant, with it's modern decor, has to offer in my view. Service was friendly but somewhat dour at times and delivered with a very straight face. There were a couple of mix ups on our table as we had two servers who seemed to get the orders duplicated a couple of times. Not the end of the world but seemed a tad disorganized. We were served quickly with our entrees (all we ordered) but it didn't feel rushed. Both the presentation and the flavors were very well done and our whole party very much enjoyed the meal. We were served efficiently and not rushed at all. There is a good selection of wines by the glass to match the extensive wine list by the bottle. Desserts are also very good. There are nice touches including a couple of amuse bouche-type complimentary items which are always welcome and shows that the restaurant is both trying hard, and working to make both the value and the experience all it can be and I applaud them for that. The prices, whilst not excessively high for NYC are still up there and our bill was well north of $50 for one course, a couple of desserts and one round of drinks for 3. Not horrible, but expensive nonetheless. Still, a very good experience especially on a lovely spring evening such as tonight. I'd certainly eat here again. There is also live music of a subdued type which adds a lot to the atmosphere which is calm and relatively quiet allowing for easy dinner table conversation. Very good
Be the first to ReplyGood Food. Nice Views
Very good prix-fixe lunch in a lovely setting. I loved the parsnip soup. Don't miss it. My wife enjoyed the chicken and the desserts were yummy
Be the first to ReplySimply fabulous
My best dining experience in New York City! Victor, our server got us a seat by the window. And the service and the view were outstanding. My duck was superb and my girl friend really enjoyed her lobster also. Every single person from the wait staff to the hostess were fantastic!
Be the first to ReplyWonderful evening
What a wonderful experience. Of course the view is extraordinary. Of course the food is fantastic. Of course the wine selection is excellent. But the service! Such personal, carrying service. I was floored by how welcome we were made to feel. A very enjoyable evening thanks to heartfelt service
Be the first to ReplyGreat fixe prix lunch with views of Columbus Circle
Robert provides a great fixe prix lunch that includes scenic views of Columbus Circle. Located at the top of the same building holding the Museum of Arts & Design, the lunch I had included turnip soup, grilled salmon, and finally a strawberry cheesecake. All were excellent; this is a good choice if you're visiting the museums in this area (and in this building).
Be the first to ReplyGreat Views of Columbus Circle
Dining at Robert is a visual delight. The views are wonderful. Our meals were good and well presented, however did not justify fine dining prices. The staff were efficient and perfunctory. Noise level was moderate at times loud making conversation difficult. Tables were appropriately socially distant.
Be the first to ReplyExquite dining experience!
My sister treated my wife and me to a Thanksgiving dinner here with a window table . The window view of Central Park was amazing; the food and service were equally divine. The three-course price fixe included (among other choices) a delicious mushroom strudel with micro greens with entreรฉs, such as short ribs and turkey roullade. The pumpkin cheesecake was divine.
Be the first to ReplyCOLD AT WINDOW TABLES SO HAD TO BE MOVED
Yes, we did sit at the windows and that was good EXCEPT RIGHT IN THE WIND AND THEY COULDN'T MAKE IT WARMER so we had to move further back............what's the point? Food was fine. Service was fine. Won't be back
Be the first to ReplyNice views, modern vibes
Goof food in a modern clean setting with quick service.Branzino was very good as well as sautรฉed greens. Others at the table enjoyed risotto.
For dessert the goat cheese mousse with figs is highly recommended, rich and creamy, and chocolate cake was well balanced.
Views of Columbus Circle are great.
Very satisfying New York experience overall.
Terrible food, mediocre service.
The food was poorly cooked โ some things overcooked, some things undercooked. Everything is sweet, lacks any creativity. Drinks are uninteresting. Service is lackadaisical.
Be the first to ReplySpectacular
Absolutely incredible location with beautiful decor. Everything was pristine (except the bathroom which was actually a little dirty). When my group came, there was a live pianist which helped elevate the experience. The food was spectacular. Every dish our table ordered was colorful, delicious, and fresh.
I ordered the eggs benedict with canadian bacon. The hollandaise was really delightful and the greens balanced the heaviness of the eggs benedict very well.
