Traveling in Madrid alone, I wanted to treat myself to a good authentic Spanish meal and this place seemed to fit the bill. After doing some research, I found this place offered traditional Spanish tapas with a modern flair. I stopped in late, around 11pm but the place was lively. I loved the modern decor and would recommend this spot to tourists and locals alike! For dinner, I started with the "Alubia negra de Gernika con chorizo y piparras" which was a red soup with black beans and sausage. It was very tasty with the bread that was served warm with my meal. Afterwards, I got the "Albóndigas de Buy Carbonara con Guanciale, pecorino rallado y yema de huevo" - which were some of the best Albondigas I have ever tasted. Seriously GET THEM, even if it is just to share. They were so good I wanted to go back the next night and get them again. This would be a great date night spot or place to celebrate a birthday. The staff was extremely professional and help (they suggested I order a 1/4 portion of the soup because of the size, which was very helpful). LaKsa was pricey but I think the cost matched the experience. If I have the chance, I will definitely come back.

I assumed that it must be beyond-words exciting. My experience was very good, four stars, but nothing memorable, especially compared to some of the other places that I've been to on this trip.

We reserved weeks in advance and were welcomed and escorted by the chef, to a lovely window side table. Observing the setting, the soft reggae playing suited the chic and trendy room. It was uncluttered with well spaced tables. We were the only foreigners. Locals were enjoying a post Xmas meal. Service was flawless. Food flowed and quite honestly, revealed perfection with each course. Flavors and plating was spot on. Our server chose an excellent bottle of wine to pair with our meal. One of the top 20 meals of 2018.
Be the first to ReplyDining at Lakasa was a phenomenal experience.
The restaurant has the option to serve most of its dishes as half portions to have a more tapas like experience. This is what my wife and I elected to do. We started with the Idiazabal Cheese Fritters. These soft gooey balls exploded with warm cheesy goodness and were insanely addictive. Next we had the Deep Fried Shrimps with Lime Mayonese. These shrimps were lightly crisp and airy and paired nicely with the creamy lime mayonese. Next up was the Cured Cow Meat from Astorga with a Touch of Pepper. This rich and flavorful cured meat had a pleasant salty and smokiness. Next we had the Grilled Duck Foie with Sweet Truffle. The Foie was creamy and lightly toasted and topped with savory mushroom shavings. The Marinated Loin of Bonito with Tomato Sauce & Cherry Tomato was also amazing. The melt in your mouth fish was paired nicely with juicy tomatoes. The Roast Pork with Homemade Mole Sauce was next. The tender pork had a nicely crisp outside and topped with a flavorful and spicy mole sauce and crisp tortilla chips. Next we had a cheese selection featuring four cheeses and jams from different areas of Europe. The cheeses had a variety of enjoyable flavors and textures. Finally, we couldn't decide what to order for dessert, so we ordered three. The first dessert was the Lemon Pie with Meringue & Crumble which was lemony tart, creamy and filled with crunchy graham pieces. The second was the Crème Caramel made with Sheep's Milk, which was a creamy sweet flan. Finally we had the Double Choco (Black & White). This dessert was chocolate bliss: creamy and rich with a nice sweetness and bitterness. Every dish we had was perfect! Overall, the food was exceptional and flavorful and Lakasa is a must visit when in Madrid.

A little out of the way but pretty easy to get to from our Airbnb in another neighborhood by Metro (I am so jealous of Spains metros!).Service was super attentive and the menu was really inviting. We ordered a whole bunch of dishes (all to share!) in addition to several rounds of drinks to wash it all down+ Buñuelitos de Idiazabal (1/2 racione) // Cheese Fritters - Definitely get these. Super simple, flavorful, crowd pleaser!+ Verduras de verano salteadas // "Sauteed Summer Vegetables" - After 9 days in Spain with few vegetable dishes we saw this and decided to go for it... you know...for health... They were crispy blistered vegetables with a little sauce at the bottom. I'd probably skip this in lieu of a salad in the future.+ Lomo de bonito del norte marinado // Marinated Bonito with confit of cherry tomatoes - This was really delicious-- a little fishy (which if you know bonito that is to be expected) but the tomato confit seemed to really help round out the flavors. + Secreto de ibérico puro semi asado // Seared Rare Iberian Pork Tartare w/ herbed aioli - This might have been the highlight-- Spaniards ain't afraid to serve their aged pork rare AF and it was a delightful treat to have this way. Don't skip this! + Dry Rice w/ Rare Squab (unsure of the name it looks like it is no longer on the menu) - I loved this! It was sort of reminiscent of paella-- but NOT paella- the squab was delicious and flavorful. I'm not 100% sure but the rice seemed a touch undercooked but it's possible it was meant to be that way. + Flan con leche de oveja y huevos de corral // Sheeps Milk Flan - Simple but made so well. I've had some really bad flan in the states (usually made with gelatin, or the custard is broken) but this was my ideal flan. Worth getting if you're into flan like us!

Be the first to ReplyGreat food.
Service was attentive and fun to talk to. i like they can serve half rations, i was able to eat an appetizer, 2 main dishes and dessert without feeling too full. Atun rojo a la blood mary was my favorite. I'm definitely coming tomorrow to try more dishes.
