Tasty dishes, elegant trendy atmosphere, no disturbing music, pleasant terrace.
Indian food can also be served in elegant china, surrounded trendy decoration, and be part of the Michelin guide. We enjoyed excellent seafood with exquisite sauces. Spicy as it should, with no disturbing modifications to cater to local palate. Service is quite good and location is unbeatable. One of the best non Spanish restaurants in Madrid.

The different specialties of great finesse and delicacy and of course delicious. A delight of food. We have enjoyed
Be the first to ReplyVery delicious food and excellent service
Family dinner. They have attended to us quickly and have advised us well regarding things and quantities to order. The cocktails are also exquisite. We will repeat.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent experience!
I love the place, it's very nice and the service is fantastic! I love the food, especially the chicken tikka masala. Highly recommended!

Amazing! Excellent and truly Indian food. An experience to repeat, perhaps the best Indian restaurant I have visited to date! Congratulations!
Be the first to ReplyReunion with the Benarés restaurant.
Our first restaurant, after some years without visiting Madrid, was Benarés. The same qualities continue: cordiality, attention and professionalism. The daily menu allows you to taste first-class Indian cuisine at a reasonable price.
Be the first to ReplySpectacular
A word "Spectacular" and developing something more, we loved it because of the honesty of the dishes that transport us to India and at the same time to the world, a world full of new flavors that surprise along with aromas that fill us with new memories... a complex cuisine and very balanced with authentic flavors Congratulations Chef Luis Ojeda. Furthermore, the place is beautiful and with a wonderful interior terrace and the Restaurant team is the icing on the cake, "professional and friendly." Congratulations to all!
Be the first to ReplyGood atmosphere in a place with the smell of Indian spices
The place is very spacious, I expected more decoration. At the entrance they took our warm clothes for the wardrobe. On a poyete they show the Michelin 2023 plaque and "recommended Repsol 2023 guide." On the way to the tables we pass by a counter where all the spices used in the kitchen are displayed. Which gives a pleasant smell to the entire place. The menu does not differ much from that of any other Indian restaurant, although the presentation improves and the waiter presents the composition of some dishes. It has some vegetarian options and I found everything delicious.
Be the first to ReplyThe best in Indian food
It is a spectacular restaurant. Food 10, restaurant 10 and staff 11. We will repeat for sure.
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance is good but normal food
The restaurant ambience is very nice, staff is polite. The quantity is good as compared with London Michelin restaurants but food presentation is like normal restaurant. We tried seekh kabab, chicken tikka, fish coconut curry and butter chicken. Some chicken tikka pieces were over done (partly blakish). To my taste, the curry was salty. The butter chicken curry was tasty. Nan bread was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyBeyond disappointment!
The waiting staff were lovely. The food was terrible! We are used to eating Indian food in India, in the UK, as well as in Madrid. When the chutneys that accompany poppadoms are no more than fruit jams, you do begin to worry. When we asked for a spicy chutney, we were brought a sriracha sauce in a dish - definitely not the taste of India! For my main course, I ordered palak paneer. My husband and mother both ordered butter chicken. Indian food is all about the depth of flavour, from the cooking of the spices. There was no depth whatsoever in these dishes. My paneer dish had a load of chilli (not fresh) added to it, as I had asked it to be spicy. I had to send it back. I eat hot food, but not hot food without any spice. It was wholly unpalatable. I was given a coconut vegetable dish instead, which was just al dente veg in a sauce made of coconut milk and again no spices. It was the most uninspiring dish ever! My husband's butter chicken was like a de-boned barbecued chicken drumstick in a tasteless red sauce! A far cry from how it is eaten in New Delhi. To sum up, this is no fine dining emporium, but neither is it a place to try Indian food - you can do better in the cheap restaurants in Lavapiés, and if you want authentic, refined and tasty Indian food, go to Tandori Station, but at all costs avoid Benares!

Be the first to ReplyPrice or Quality and Taste Need to Improve
this restaurant has been on my must visit list for quite some time and I had booked for a special occasion especially after I found out it is in the Michelin guide and run by one of the London chefs however it was quite disappointing because the prices are so high. it’s at the expectation you are going to have something really special but I would have paid half each of the curry dishes that were priced at 25 or 30. The bill was extortionate for what was a pretty basic meal that I didn’t even finish or bothered to take home because it was average or “fine” The menu itself is all prepared in advance which means they were unable to cater for dietary requirements or pregnancy they also did not attempt to change or amend any dishes i.e. if you are allergic to a sauce they didn’t think to give you a different sauce which should be quite a basic swap for a Michelin standard restaurant. The service however was exceptionally good and we were well looked after by Sergio and Rodolfo who went out of their way to try and make our meal special and they clearly belong in Michelin restaurants. The starters were delicious and the dessert was wonderful so I was quite confused why the curry was so basic (we had the lamb the veggie and the fish) curry. And they told us that if we wanted to have more variety I should have told them about my allergies in advance but it was clearly stated on the booking so they could have called in advance or at least been prepared as they did say they had received this and the waiters were quite knowledgeable but it seems the kitchen can’t quite keep up. Overall this restaurant is probably trying to find his feet however because it doesn’t quite make Michelin guide standards I think their pricing should be adjusted to reflect this until their dishes improve in quality taste and experience. There are better places to spend 80pp at this time. I’d only return on a special discount and be cautious what plates I tried
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Beautiful restaurant and attentive staff but futile attempt at serving Indian food. We ordered the Aloo tiki and Murgh tikka for starters and Chicken biriyani with a side of dal makhani as a main course. Aloo tiki - looked great on the plate but was overly spiced with a very strong taste of garlic and ginger (strange ingredient for an aloo tiki). Murgh tikka - was advertised on the menu as chicken tenders cooked in the tandoor but what was served to us was boneless chicken thighs that had never seen the inside of a tandoor. Looked oven or steam cooked. Chicken Biriyani - I know the majority of Indian restaurants don’t serve biryanis cooked from scratch. It’s normally pulao rice mixed with chicken and some spiced sauce but they can still be tasty if done right. This was not done right! Just lots and lots of fried onions and herbs in a tasteless sauce served with the same chicken used for the murgh tikka, boneless thighs. On top of this it was served warm, not hot. Dal makhani - was bland, like they forgot to give it any sort of tempering (tarka). Garlic Naan bread - naan was good but they charge €5.50 per naan. We have eaten at Benares London and similar modern Indian restaurants and have enjoyed our meals immensely. I wish I could have said the same for Benares Madrid. Obviously Atul Kochhar took his recipes and skills back to London with him. Such a shame for such a setting to serve such bad food.
Be the first to ReplyBenares Madrid- not quite beating London yet
As a frequent diner at Benares London- this was an absolute must on my to-do list for my visit to Madrid. The decor and ambiance is lovely. Staff are warm and friendly. Food is on par with London in terms of quality and flavours. BUT.... menu choices are much more limited with no where near the same to choose from and actually works out a fair bit more expensive. The Executive Thali is only on offer during the week, apart from the Tasting Menu, you only have A la Carte. London have the set menu options for lunch & dinner Mon- Sat which is exceptional menu. with a starter and a main & side shared, some rice & naan, 2 cocktails each- it was over 110 Euros. I would love to go back on a future visit but not if the value for money doesn't improve.

We had lunch in their beautiful patio next to the pool. The food was excellent and the waiters were very kind and helpful. Lots of vegan options as well!
Be the first to ReplyA perfect dive into the Indian kitchen
A perfect dive in the Indian kitchen. What an amazing dinner, surprise for your taste and wonderful and careful service. Nothing could have gone better. The chef adapted the menu to our diet without any problem and if you do not want a. Spic food, the chef will satisfy your desire. Everything was perfect
Be the first to ReplySuperb.
Remember when fusion was a great word before we sold our soul to “authenticity”. This is a joyous mix of classic Indian and Spanish/Indian fusion. Sublime. Great cocktails and seriously good food and service. One of Madrid’s best!
Be the first to ReplyAll that glitters is not Gold
Having walked by Banares before, I tried it for lunch today. The service and atmosphere are the quality of food I tried disappointed. I tried the kebab starter with nan and chai. The kebab was ground with remnants of bone. The seasoning was just average and the sauce was the star. It was seriously overpriced at 19,50 Euros. The garlic Nan was average. I could only eat one piece and left the rest. The chai lacked flavor and the lentil crisps were typical and the accompanying sauces lacked flavor and were a bit hard as they were on the table when guests arrived. Overall my check was 30,50 Euros for Service, Chai, Nan and Kebab. I seriously recomend you look for a smaller place in a less pricy area.

Staff was amazing, and food was even better!!! Our favorite courses were the cauliflower and duck. We definitely recommend the wine pairing.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing dinner!
I came here for my fiancés birthday and it was so good.
Beautiful restaurant, great staff, and yummy food. I recommend the corvina and octopus- they were both particularly amazing. The lamb Rogan Josh was good but I was surprised it wasn’t spicy like Rogan Josh usually is, but the lamb was tender and tasty so it was ok.
I definitely recommend it!
Best Indian food in Madrid!
Best Indian food in Madrid!Barbara and Paula were really helpful and attentive. They also offer set menu lunch. Hope to be back soon.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious but lukewarm food.
We both ordered the executive thali and were also given some poppadom pieces with various chutneys and an aperitif. Everything was lovely except the food was lukewarm and not hot enough. I understand that the thali it is a popular option and not cooked to order but this was a shame. Nevertheless, a return visit will no doubt be made when we shall order from the main menu.
