Superb food and incredible value
Ate here during a short city break to Lille. Absolutely superb little restaurant. Staff were incredibly helpful and more than happy to assist with the wine list and menu despite our lack of French. Knowledge of the wine list was amazing, taking us through each one from the region we had selected and landing on something we really enjoyed. The food was incredible. Presented superbly and everything perfectly cooked. Probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Even more astounding when you consider the price was so reasonable for 3 courses and an excellent bottle of wine. Highly recommended to everyone.

Restaurant Sebastopol is a short walk away from Republique-Beaux Arts metro station.
I had strolled from Lille Europe station which was just over a mile distant.
Several years ago, I had tried to have lunch at the Sebastopol without booking and had been unsuccessful.
This time, I booked a table for lunch well in advance at noon on a Wednesday.
The lunch menu was quite concise but all of the items were mouth watering.
I opted for ‘Ouef’ to start, ‘Canard’ for main course and ‘Fromage’ for dessert.
There was an amuse bouche to start - a fish purée with sesame seeds. It was very nice.
The starter was a runny egg in a croquette type coating with avocado and asparagus. This worked really well and was delicious.
The duck was beautifully cooked and very tasty and the cheese consisting of Brie, Camembert and smoked cheese was decent too.
To drink, I had a gin & tonic, a couple of glasses of Cote de Rhone, cider and cafe au lait.
The service was friendly and relaxed and it was a lovely environment in which to have a leisurely meal.
Cost was around €65 without service. A splendid experience.
