Such a lovely restaurant.
Cheese platter was delicate. Wine was delightful- anytime we can find a RED Sancerre we are happy! Such a pretty spot to have lunch on a beautiful day!

A typical French brassiere from your onion soup to your steak frites . The best dish was the sole meunière, fresh and well prepared. Otherwise an unremarkable meal in a somewhat noisy restaurant. Would not return, many other options available.

.. One of the worst experience of my life. Horrible smell at the entrance followed by an odor plume of filthy sweat. Food was a bad caricature of french cuisine. We got the menu a la carte and the main course, the canard confit, came out of an hospital canteen. The service was sloppy and filthy. Food fell on the floor when removing plates and nobody came to clean. Finally, when we asked for a digestif drink, waiters refused to serve us. Apparently the bartender was gone. It seems very hard to open a bottle these days... I sincerely recommend to avoid it.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a tremendous dinner.
i had duck breast cooked medium rare and it was perfectly prepared- sliced over dark lentils. My wife had roast chicken which was a large portion and she loved the remainder for lunch today (note it takes 45 minutes to cook so decide ahead and order upon seating). Our server, Mauro, was excellent. He was there anytime we wanted him and never Interrupted us when we were in obvious conversation with the couple who joined us. Great value and a very good time. We would happily return.

Great customer service, the waiters are so attentive and take the time to explain each dish on the menu. Food is great especially Foie gras.

Was walking pass this place so decided to check it out. Great food, service and ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyChristmas Eve at La Voile was amazing.
From the service, to the food, to the ambience it was top notch. The Onion Soup was perfection with great flavor and the perfect amount of cheese. For the main course it was the Le Filet de Boeuf - Beef Tenderloin with a peppercorn sauce. The beef was not only flavorful but melted in your mouth. With dinner and a glass of wine, we passed on desert as we were full. And our waiter was amazing. Friendly, funny, and the perfect service

We usually go watch the Nutcracker every year since 2014 but we switched it up this year and decided to make it a tradition to hit every French cuisine we can in the city of Boston and we're so happy we made this our first choice! From the moment we entered to the very last moment we left everything was fabulous! Loved the dim lighting had a nice cozy feel. I highly recommend the pouched pear for dessert! Thank me later. Great experience Cheers

Food and atmosphere was lovely. Can't wait for al fresco dinning.

Had lunch today, -- after this "French" food, I probably don't want to eat "French" food for a long time. ---food we order:1) fois gras: overpriced preserved food. 2) duck: hard to chew 3) veal: not very fresh. 4) dessert: hard & cold Service is nice actually To summarize, we regret spending 75 mins and 100 dollars on this and probably don't want French food for a long while.

We ate at La Voile last night and it was a terrific experience. I had a beet salad and for my main had wonderful scallops expertly prepared. The service and ambience were lovely. We felt like we were back in France. Can't wait to go back..
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food, service, and wine.
Highly recommend for a nice date night out in the city.

We stopped in for an early (5:30 PM) dinner because we had to catch a flight and overall it's a place that I'd want to visit again. We had the beet salad, seared duck, and sole meunière which were all cooked perfectly. My duck was a tad bit gristly but I'm being nit picky. Topped everything off with their "La Brouillard" (an affogato) which was the perfect way to end the meal. They have an extensive wine list and full bar. The next time I come back it will definitely be a more relaxed visit and I'll want to explore the menu more. Besides the classic French Onion soup, I'd want to have the escargot and the foie gras. They also have a $69 prix fixe menu which would be a contender for next time. Oh Boston, so much food, so little time...The service was very good also. We were greeted and all interactions with staff were positive. Our waiter was cheery and checked in on us at the appropriate times and was always there when we needed him.
Be the first to ReplyI've been here about four times.
The food and service have always been impeccable. It is pricey, but the fixed price menu is reasonable for what you get. Unlike many restaurants, they don't cram you in so there is a little space between you and the neighboring table. The wait staff is attentive and professional. The food is your typical French dishes, always cooked and presented well.
Be the first to ReplyWe were blown away by everything in this restaurant.
Our waitress was bubbling with enthusiasm, you could tell she just love to be there as did everybody in this restaurant everybody loved what they were doing and it was a pleasure for them to not only be there but to do what they were doing and to be able to serve people very best French food. The decor was delightfully cozy with a nautical theme. The only complaint I would have is that where I sat was right behind the major Z's station and when the air conditioning came on (or was it the wine cellar doors opened?) It blew cold air behind my back.We had the escargot and the smoked salmon both were absolutely divine, the bread baskets were filled before we even knew they were empty same with our water glasses. The sommelier came by to check on us and before he even left the table he noticed there was a ever so slight imbalance in the table reach down and fix the table himself. This left such a huge impression on us! No one in the restaurant was too big or too small for any task and they did it with such pleasure! It added all the more to our experience and our pleasure with it!I ordered the Dover sole which was absolutely fantastic. The man who brought it over showed it to me and said "may I debone it for you?" Of course I agreed and he did it so artfully and so skillfully he took out the spine of the fish in one piece!Sadly we did not get many pictures because we were so enjoying the experience The phones didn't come out. The Sommelier remarked on the court when we got the special bottle that they were wondering how it would hold up and it held up beautifully and the wine was absolutely lovely. At the end we were too stuffed for dessert and they brought us out Cognac as a dessert / pallet cleanser and we have to say we were extremely impressed! The food was absolute top level. The service was beyond exceptional, we had things refilled before we even knew they were getting close to empty. Everyone was courteous and obviously happy to be there. The bathrooms were even cute and well-appointed. Do yourself a favor and book a dinner here and you will not regret it!
Be the first to ReplyTrès Bien! The food was fresh and cooked to perfection.
Great selection of wines. Every staff member spoke French and was very polite and attentive. Restaurant is cozy and lighting was very pleasant. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a little taste of France in Boston.

When my friends suggested French food I was a bit skeptical because I wasn't that sold when I went to France and had the food there. But let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised. Everything we had in the table was delicious. My friends also enjoyed everything. The staff was friendly and responsive. It has a very intimate feel to it and that paired well with the food. Would definitely go back. And would recommend it. Check out all the pics for inspo.

Very quaint and upscale Parking: all street/meter so plan ahead. It is newbury after all and famous for rare parkingService: above and beyond. They take your coat, hang it for you, and help you put it on. The waiter was attentive and I didn't have to wait long to get anything. Attire: jeans and nice top or business casual. Not a sweatpants or gym clothes kind of place but also not a full tuxedo ball gown kind of place. Food: went for the 3 course lunch ~45pp. Good options. Had the duck breast, salmon, pate, and mushroom soup. ALL perfectly made. Minus one star for dessert. I think the dessert was pre made and the neopolitan was not flaky and crunchy since usually this type of pastry is best freshly made. The chocolate mousse was delicious though! Be the first to ReplyJadore La Voile for years.
.. It's so good, never disappoints. Their salads are amazing but also one of the best steaks around...and of course wine and mussels. The service is good and consistent. Been going for years and cant wait to go back again soon!!!
Be the first to ReplyFirst time there; can't say enough about the service.
French onion soup was somewhat ordinary, but the Dover sole was perfect and sublime.
Be the first to ReplyHave been here twice and both experiences were amazing.
First, make a reservation online, because the restaurant is small and fills up during weekends and peak hours. Second, if you have friends/colleagues from France or who miss authentic French cuisine, bring them here. The majority of waitstaff are French or speak French fluently, and the menu has enough French wines, starters, entrees, desserts, and teas that are 100% authentic for them to be satisfied. Although the vibe is welcoming, even during the summer you should dress up slightly (I wore a summer dress and my guest wore a polo, khaki shorts, and Sperry Topsiders), but I've seen full suits here having business meetings. The charcuterie board was great, had the rib eye with greens, my guest had the sea bass, and my previous time I had risotto, roasted vegetables, and my friends and I split a chocolate mousse. A great place for a business lunch, anniversary dinner, or celebration. The menu changes with the seasons, so I'm excited to go again in the fall and winter.

They burnt my foie gras, which is admittedly hard to sear if you're a new cook, so I'd give them a break...but their salmon made my girlfriend violently ill all night. We called up to report the food poisoning, and they offered a comped meal in return, as if we'd ever go back. Quite a shame considering the good experiences we've had here in the past.
