Stopped in for dinner a few nights ago after the host
Stopped in for dinner a few nights ago after the host persuaded us to go in. The service was the quickest I've ever seen. We were seated immediately, ordered within a few minutes, had our food and drinks within 8 minutes, and were checked on multiple times by our waiter. The restaurant is cute with a chic red vibe inside and out. The lighting is darker and there's TVs inside as well. The food was amazing!!! It was moderately priced, average for the restaurants in the area. The fries were the best I've ever had. I got the chicken supreme and it was cooked perfectly, and I loved the sweet and sour sauce on the side. My mom got the beef entree, while there wasn't a lot of beef provided it was cooked and seasoned well. Very tasty food! Overall: loved the service and the food, interior is also very trendy. Would come back, makes for a nice dining experience in Paris.

I wish I had better things to say about this restaurant because the food was great. I had just dined there last night with my mother and father. The environment was cool and seemed intriguing to us. Everything was fine with the initial drinks and food. My mother and I had one bloody mary each to start and my father had ordered a single Carlsburg. The service was fine at best honestly the server seemed busy or that possibly he was not as attentive with us. We then ordered a round of drinks, two Chardonnays for me and my mother and a Carslburg for my father when the food came. We were brought the drinks with no issue and then the real problem begun when the bill came. We had been wrongfully charged for four glasses of Chardonnay and three beers. My father quickly saw the mistake and asked for the server. Immediately the bartender ran up to the table and began starting a verbal argument with my father accusing us of drinking said drinks. As if we had been trying to get drinks for free; however, we had only ever ordered the second round and had only received said round. My father calmly explained this and the bartender continued to accuse my father of "scamming them." I understand that mistakes happen and I myself am a waitress but the way this bartender approached us and forced our waiter to pay for the round of drinks was absolutely disgusting. I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant for any tourists or non french speakers.
Be the first to ReplyBad service by a dishonest waiter.
He dropped a stained fork on me, and ignored my request for check. When I finally got my bill, he didn't return me all the changes, insisting on extra cash as "service charge" and saying "otherwise no good for me", despite the fact that the restaurant service tipping is completely optional and discretionary.

Very friendly staff who welcomed English speakers. Food was delicious.

Classic French cafe that with good food that was reasonably priced for Paris. It has a "moody" vibe with dark decor and beehive-inspired fixtures. Lots of locals came in for a quick cafe at the bar. We liked that it had two separate floors so it did not get too loud.

Went to this restaurant a few years ago and haven't forgotten my experience. It was such a trendy, cute spot. I was only in Paris for 3 days but found myself getting something here every day! The coffee is great, the food is phenomenal. The owner was super personable and the entire staff was very friendly. When I go back to Paris La Ruche will be the first place I go!!

Great environment, really nice menu, full-service bar, excellent service, outstanding staff....we are very happy we walked into La Ruche. Our food was great, the drinks were spot-on, and service (a 5-foot something Asian gentleman) just outstanding. We'll be back to La Ruche next time we're in Paris for sure.
Be the first to ReplyIn a nutshell: A typical brasserie in the Montparnasse
In a nutshell: A typical brasserie in the Montparnasse neighborhood. The good: The prices are reasonable. The cheese plate is presented well. The bad: Nothing I had blew me away. The ugly: The servers underwhelm me with their friendliness.
Be the first to ReplyWent wandering towards Montparnasse on my last night in
Went wandering towards Montparnasse on my last night in Paris with a cuban cigar in my pocket and a desire to just sit and relax for hours. I like this cafe and this area because it felt lively without feeling touristy. There were a lot of people out, but it felt more like just a regular neighborhood than a bunch of tourists like me looking for the Parisian cafe experience. There was life, but it wasn't hectic. The waiter was nice and didn't give me any crap about sitting there for two hours smoking cigars while all we'd ordered were a couple coffees and a beer. As much as I mostly think that for a tourist one cafe is pretty much the same as another, for some reason I just felt more comfortable in La Ruche. A hint should you find yourself here - they do have free wifi but you have to re-sign-in every twenty minutes. So don't be scared when you first sign in and it seems to say that you can only be on the internet for 20 minutes. When your twenty minutes is up, you just have to open your browser and go back to their login page and click "log in" again.
Be the first to ReplyPleasant Montparnasse bar and brasserie.
Dark decor. It's a decent size, sporting multiple floors. (From the upper floor, you kind of overlook the ground floor.) Chill music. Drinks seemed expensive, but tasted fine. If you don't - or can't - drink alcohol, they have coffee and lemonade. I first stopped in three years ago, and I'm happy to see they're still around.
