Great Oysters, loved them all .
We tried assorted oysters, raw and grilled .. they were all amazing!
Also had the fried basket but that was a bit greasy and lots of fries not so many oysters or shrimps. PoBoy was good too. Somewhat small portions
Great friendly service ... would definitely come back. Might have done better with some of the other options. I guess we should expect the fried basket to be fried!
Yummy and local
Excellent offering of local oysters shucked properly in salt water without shell remnants spoiling the taste. Wonderful selection of local brews and wine to wash it all down. Great for people watching.

Stopped in for a quick late lunch and sat at the counter with my husband. Between the two of us, we ordered raw oysters, the oyster po' boy sandwich and oyster chowder. They were all delicious and we would go back there in a minute if we lived closer. The ambiance was cozy on a very cold day and the view of the river and wharf was great.

We came here for drinks - the Pretty in Pink was excellent, but fairly small for the price (forgot to take a picture until it was too late!). Highly recommend the Rappahannock Shooter: just what a shooter should be - briney and strong!

This is my first negative review so I waited before writing this because this is someone’s livelihood. So will try to be constructive.
Started when host/hostess snapped at us for just wanting to look at menu. Ok. You have empty tables. We saw many. And there are lots of choices on the Warf. Not sure what that hostility was about. But we rolled with it and got a table.
Only craft beer here. Got a sample and it was bitter as terpentine.
So beer not an option.
So went with oyster shooter. Love them and surely an oyster bar will get that right. Negative. They were not good.
Moving on to oysters. No steamed option. Only cooked to a dried up mess charbroiled.
I could go on, but you get the point.
Go to the street food seafood vendors and walk down to the street beer vendors not to repeat our newbie experience.
UGH. Hot and crowded and pretentious
We headed here as a multi-generational family group. We were seated more quickly than expected so I was optimistic. Unfortunately this was short lived. On the positive side our waitress was fantastic. Personable and informed and knowledgeable and fun. I loved her. Sadly it appears that she was left alone to service the entire large outdoor area. After ordering a large platter of mixed oysters, a busboy dropped it without a remark. When we asked him to identify the varietals, he told us “oysters.” When we flagged down our waitress to ask for elaboration she told us she’d have to send over the shucker. After waiting a good long while we gave up on waiting and dug in. Good thing, because said shucker never showed.
We became aware when ordering that the chef is dogmatic. Evidently this means he refuses to make delicious food. I was told that I was not allowed to have cheese on my burger (I don’t eat seafood.) When asked to omit onions from a salad by another member of our party it was a firm “no.” I can appreciate the aversion of a classically trained French chef to modify his art to the base whims of the masses, but that’s part of the gig. This is not case of a patron asking that a dish be completely stripped and remade; it is simply a minor addition or subtraction. I ate my plain burger and it was fine. Due to extensive life experience (and probably my underdeveloped simian palate) I can say that it would have been better with cheese. Dare I say American? I think it is pretentious and obnoxious to dictate food to this degree. If a chef thinks so little of the people he is preparing food for, perhaps he should reconsider his career.
In addition to the chef absurdity, the service was terrible. I am loathe to say this because our waitress was awesome. But there was no staff and multiple things fell through the cracks. One of our parties’ entrees was completely forgotten and took an additional 30 minutes even after we’d alerted the staff to the oversight. The busboys didn’t speak any English and showed zero initiative in helping to get the appropriate information when it was requested. In the end our whole group agreed that we should have done take out food and brought it elsewhere.
Great service! Yummy local oysters!
I found this place the first time I went to the Union Market. The server was so helpful explaining the different oysters to me. They also had great happy hour specials! As a matter fact, it was so good, that when my friend came to visit me two nights later, we went and had dinner there. She and I put back quite a few oysters and clams.

Be it the service
Be it the oysters
Be it the booze
Sad as I had high hopes - in fairness there are no good choices in the new waterfront development.
